you can try using power socket USB adapter, or any powerbank, or hi-powered PC USB port
normal port just won't work, low Ampere...unless of course, you can combine 2 usb port into 1....

btw, haven't tried car charger for magnetic charging...anyone else tried?
*
In the car, I am using my Blackberry Playbook 2A USB car charger together with the magnetic dock cable to charge my Xperia Z Ultra and it works perfectly. It charges as fast as from the wall socket

But my el-cheapo Panasonic S1 produce better indoor shots than the Z1. I suspect Sony need to tweak the firmware first.
*
never try using that but yes, it is sony famous imaging processing issue.
There are 3 main factors affect image quality - Sensor, Lens and Imaging processor.
Sony tend to screw up on the last 1. Easily can fix via firmware if Sony want to.

admin, new Z1 black user here. Pls add me. thanks smile.gif

I've compared my Z1 screen with my Z. The famous yellow/warm hue of the screen is evidently there and is pretty bad. white is nowhere near white at all.

Did anyone tried exchanging with Sony Malaysia or are all stock is the same now?

Loving my Z1 now, just wondering if I can do anything with the screen now that the white balance option has been removed.

In addition, any way to change the white colour background in settings to black? Prefer the black hehe
*
i have opened around 10-13units of newly sealed z1, all got same yellowish tint, some even worse, newer batch = more yellowish.
maybe updating future firmware can solve this, unless u wanna buy the whiter screen but demo unit like they offered me lol.
but using it few days, felt that the screen got slightly whiter d, maybe its just me?

It is image processing. Not imaging processor.

Firmware cannot fix yellowish screen. If firmware tune yellow screen to white, then white screen will become what color?

Conclusion:-
Yellow screen must be accepted by you before buying. Z1 is yellow screen. You have to accept that.

why some units have the whiter screen?

maybe really cant get the white screen, but if u add blue in it, will give u a slightly whiter feeling.
like my previous phone, i flash other kernel, gave me a diff color, yellow white > blueish white.

Because Sony get screen from different manufacturer.

As for custom firmware changing your screen white balance, then you have to wait for custom ROM then. But then again, those white screen flashing this ROM will get what color? laugh.gif

Finally someone making sense here.

I don't think we should cheat people into buying Z1 thinking yellowish screen will go away.

Yellowish is yellowish. Its not a problem. I'm still very satisfied with my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. I still using until now. And use it actively.

I don't agree, if you can trace which panel you have in your phone, the firmware can easily tune the white balance respectively according to simple programmin.

If>sharp panel
then white balance -10

If>JDC panel
then white balance +0

Just saying....
