Not necessary as seen too many such cases where the slot for the dock is too short to fit the length of the magnetic dock head itself. You need to widen the slot by cutting it nn spoil it's looks. The photos of the slot seems too small to me

You see the slot of the dock is just very slightly larger only. 9/10 it won't fit the dock charger head. You need at least up another 2 mm longer space both ends to have the dock head fit in

Your PC USB output usually is around 0.5A which is too low to power the dock which needs at least 1.5A

In the car, I am using my Blackberry Playbook 2A USB car charger together with the magnetic dock cable to charge my Xperia Z Ultra and it works perfectly. It charges as fast as from the wall socket

You must install first the Sony usb phone drivers

Seriously asking such a simple stuff here ?? Just use a flat screwdriver and insert in any place at bottom of either edge and it will jump out

Some of the dock the slot is a very tight fit n you cannot easily lift it out with finger. Mine 2 units were like that. After first time taken out than subsequently can lift up easier

Could be your optimised back light settings is off causing the long delay in boot up. This is a bug in the firmware n have it on before reboot

I suggest you listen to only users who had used both phones. There are plenty of smart alecs in forum lowyat who knows how to comment just based on specs and what they read on the web.

I have no experience using this Z1 but I can verify and confirm Stamina Mode on the Xperia Z and Z Ultra is amazingly good and proven. It is the only phone where battery conservation really works unlike the HTC and Samsung battery/power savings mode. With 3G on 24/7 with active FB, mail notifications active battery drain often less than 2% over 7 hours overnight and infact I have recorded many times amazingly even 0 % !! My other Androids I will usually get minimum 2 to 5% battery drop under similar conditions
On my Note 3 , SOT easily 6 hours and that is 80% and more on 3G. If i used more WiFi - 7+ hours is not an issue. It is slightly better than XZU, can match Note 2 but loses out by approximately an hour to the Mate 6.1

You can always add those app you wish in the White list eg mine is whatsapp, kaiten mail n messenger

Use the pencil as a stylus in XZU is OK but not for extensive writing. The writing feature is half baked from Sony n not even worth to consider to use it. I always said if one try to write more than a sentence he will get so frustrated that he would want to throw the XZU on the wall.
And the pencil will not even work as a stylus in the XZ1.

Today only I managed to see and test for myself this XZ1 at Seng Heng BP Mall. And is Crazy they are selling it fro RM 2399. Besides it was the older XZ and XZU ( both these phones i have used before)
MY immediate impressions was it looks way better than those photos shots on the web which seriously did not even appeal to me at all. The display is the most obvious improvement over XZ. Phone is snappy and very responsive . Will highly recommend this over those thinking even about buying the older XZ BUT the price !!!

No matter how good the phone is , having used bigger size display phones ( Note 2 ( 5.5) , Note 3 ( 5.7) , Huawei AScend Mate ( 6.1), Vega NO6 (5.9) , LG G Pro ( 5.5) and XZU (6.4) - I can never accept to use any phones with display less than 5.5 inch. Perhaps only the NEXUS 5 might change my mind ! ( simply because it is a NEXUS !!)

USB port in PC output only 0.5A n you need at least 1.5A to charge phone.. use a pisen usb adapter Iin PC to boost output. Can get this in garage sales or ebay
