Silver Aro is very ugly. Look like a ikan parang. For budget Aro(<Rm100), best is a Pearl (RM55 in Jln Pasar) <RM200 I'ld go for a Green not a YT.(tail 2 tone color damm jalat) 1.5(Gd 2) can get for RM400 but u will regret. No color and no demand. |

It simply doesnt have the "majestic" presence of an Asian Aro.
Btwn. silver and Jardini(Pearl), Jardini won hands down! This post has been edited by ChelseaFan: Nov 26 2006, 03:56 PM |

Be patience. Try getting a "Snowwhite" green. The body is white, silverish in color and the tail is transparent, not 2 tone color like a Yellow Tail. So far, I only came across 2 grown specimen. Some ppl. bluff, said it a platinum. btw. some pearly are quite nice too, if u know how to choose. Those golden/copper bronze color with red dots on the scale. |

QUOTE(madstone @ Nov 26 2006, 10:58 PM) Hahahaha Stay away fr YT and 1.5(Grade 2)i think i can't wait 3 months. right now felt unsure what to do exactly the shop near my house got 1 yellow tail for RM180.80 1 green aro for RM198.80 and 1/2 red aro for RM500++ I saw at Jalan Pasar last sat some nice aro cost RM130++ not sure what kind of species may be buy another 3 feet tank for new aro RTG? May be after i gain experience with this silver aro then decide whether want RTG or not RTG nowadays how much aaaa? i think my silver kinda special coz got bonggol like flowerhorn I'd a 1.5 b4, waited for 1' still no color or shine. Try to trade-in and sell but nobody interested. I end up setting it free. YT, colorless except the 2 tone tail(damm jalat) If u do buy a green, look for some shine or pale white and make sure the tail dont look like a YT. As for RTG, min. RM900+ for a juvenile. Try getting those with some 5th level development they call High Back. Tank size, min. 4' x 2', better still 5' x 2'. Havent seen a 3' width yet. No need experince, Aro r v.hardy fish. Most fatality occurred when it commit suicide(jump out) This post has been edited by ChelseaFan: Nov 26 2006, 11:12 PM |

Certificate means nothing. There are plenty of low quality certified Aro. Some of the best I've seen are not certified. |

SnYY,
Around 4". Size doent matter, healthy Aro grwoth rate is 1"/ mth. Most important is the quality. Dont waste time with YT. No color and the 2tone yellow/orangie tail very jalat. For budget get a Jardini. Try to find one with intense Gold/ Bronze. 2 wks ago, I bought 1 fr the stall next to the Chinese temple. If money isnt a issue, start with a RTG (min.) Noregrets, even if u decided to give up ur hobby in future, u can still recover ur cost. Others(lower species) no demand. Aferall mainteneance and feeding cost is the same For filteration, an overhead filter and 30% water change weekly is fine. This post has been edited by ChelseaFan: Dec 8 2006, 10:08 AM |

QUOTE(Snyy @ Dec 8 2006, 11:38 AM) oh.. then please let know what WF you get. Dont worry, Aro is probrably the easiest/ hardiest ornamental fish. No experince needed. Aro is never greedy so less bioload. Adult Aro can go months without food. Most important is water parameter. pH6.5-7.0. Add a few drop of black water to solften the water.my fren also told me the same thing. at least start with RTG. but the problem is I don rear any fish b4. thay why I thinking to start with those cheap aro to get some experiences b4 going for those expensive aro. then after a period of time if my aro is growing well then only i go for those expensive aro. this is what I plan now. with this kind of filter, izzit need to make a hole on the bottom of the tank? what is the size of tank you use for filteration? More than 90% of casuaty came fr suicide. Jumping out of the tank so make sure it's covered all the time. |

I used to have 1 fr Qian Hu too. Kept for 2 years, very slow 5th level development(only a few sparkles) Fed up, sold to a farm in Johor for RM1500(bought for RM900)
My 1st Aro, dont know how to choose. The farm asked me if I wanted to exchange for 2 fries but since I cannot choose, I took the cash instead. This post has been edited by ChelseaFan: Dec 8 2006, 10:51 PM |

QUOTE(saif_bear @ Dec 8 2006, 10:55 PM) Yep, I took the money and reinvested in a untag HBRTG fr Irene. Now 1 year/ 14".Wat caught my eyes as a juvenile was the 5th level"shine" and big tail/finage and long pectoral fins( beyond the anal fin) Paid RM1100 for 3.5" No regret. Thats why I said earlier, cert or no cert dont make any difference. It's the eye of the beholder. I've seen plenty RTGs with certs @ 2 ft. without any shine on the 5th level. Black Top, u know wat I meant. This post has been edited by ChelseaFan: Dec 8 2006, 11:18 PM |

QUOTE(madstone @ Dec 9 2006, 07:46 AM) Genetic.or too much fat tissue around the eyeball or when u place ur aquarium too high and the Aro always looking down. Putting pingpong ball might reduce the chances ot cover the bottom glass with gravel to reduce reflection. |
