I am not a elton john fan. But I want to know what do you like so much about that EJ bluray? Maybe I can consider getting it as well.

Definitely the sound staging...

It really REALLY feels like that he is performing RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU.

The Bass.

The Sound Separation

The Clarity!!!!!!

I don't know how else to express the sensation one gets when you listen to this disc.

It is staggering

I have a friend who is very "CD is for my Stereo setup and Movie is for my Home Theater setup and never the twain shall mix" kind.

He DESPISES SA-CD and DVD Audio, saying that Sense Surround has NO PLACE in music listening...

On Saturday, I invited him to my place, put in Lionel Richie (Stereo)... When All Night Long started... he went all silent, which means, he is fully concentrated at finding fault with the format... No negative comment came!!

Then he said he has stuff to do and that he can only listen to one more disc, I went for the kill and put in Elton John with the Sense Surround option, waiting for his to criticize the HECK out of the remaster/format... He was stunned silence...

Does this help you??

One thing for sure that I'm not saying that you're lying. I don't even think you're lying. BR has larger capacity than DVD so there's so much space to install higher definition file. We might be seeing larger than 500MB for a 3 minute song. It's just I remembered a dialouge which goes:

A: Why'd you listen to him?
B: Because it's good what he said.
A: What if he's lying?
B: I know a lie when I heard one.
A: So what if you know he's lying?
B: I'd listen to him too.
A: Why?
B: Because it's a good lie. I'll listen not to anything that's mediocre, I am an audiophile. If it's a lie then it better be a good one.

I dont think its better. it just different experience.
Like a concert, its not 3D surround sound, it just plain stereo.

Wonder if they will release Dire Straits: Alchemy in this format.

In fact, I told mov_freak once I like SACD better than bluray because most blu ray audio are 2.0. But with 5.1 it is a total different experience to listen to my favorite music, I like the separation of vocal and instrument and that what I am looking for, be it audiophile or not, it is the listening experience.

Haha. I'm sure many people know for a FACT, I have never and will probably not be, an Audiophile.

I just do not have the budget for it.

What I do enjoy, is Classical music, and with my modest setup, it is VERY difficult to squeeze the sound I enjoy from CD.

I actively seek this format out when it was first launch because I have heard what Bluray can do for classical music, namely, I have got most of San Francisco Symphony Keeping Score concerts on bluray and those blew me away.

Having invested pretty penny on Bluray Audio disc now, I have no regrets, with the exception of some purchase (not because of the format, but because of the performances)

All I can say to you is if you don't try, you won't know...

You will definitely enjoy

1) Elton John's Yellow Brick Road
2) Queen's Night At The Opera
3) Bob Marley and the Legends

All 5.1 mix

I don't think you will enjoy Beck - Sea Change.

I am a self profess weirdo, even I label this... too weird... tongue.gif

Sony and Warner Bros (who owns the rights to Dire Straits material) had announced that the would start to release Bluray Audio disc this year.

I also have to add, I have not seen any of their releases yet, only Universal is actively doing it now...

I for one would love for Sony to release Michael Jackson stuff on Bluray Audio list.

They should have done it for his Xtreme Album... cry.gif

I mainly use CD for the car, i believe some still do. Many use mp3 already.
At home, I just use the vinyl or ipod. Vinyl because of vinyl and ipod because of convenience, and I can just put a million songs in it. Use Spotify then i can add another 20 million songs.

To add another bluray player, and to buy more CD in this format. erm.. not quite sure. I still need to change CD and all that. And my favourite album would be, not more than 20 so far. As albums, not songs.

I still have a CD player in my car. I upgraded it two years back and the newer player supports MP3 and Wav. So I have ripped my favorite CD onto thumbdrives in wav format and you know what is the best thing, I can drive from KL and Melaka and back to KL and not have to repeat a same song!!! Also, no issue with not receiving the radio signals properly and having to listen to static...

I do have a huge collection on CD

I have recently started to collect Bluray Audio disc. And correct, if you do not have a bluray player, you have to buy a bluray player...

Each song on the bluray disc, if I understand correctly is about 100+MB.... So having said that, I will not be ripping and listening to my bluray Audio stuff in my car anytime soon. Mainly for home use only.

To each their own.

Everyone can enjoy music in whatever format they choose.

I created this thread to let people know there is an option called bluray audio.

Nothing more, nothing less... smile.gif

Great for those who have not any CD collection and wanna start one. The Gen X can compare them.

Again, another interesting question.

For the longest time, I only used the disc on my Bluray player, an old Panasonic Bluray player...

I recently bought a bluray rom for my laptop... Have not tried putting the bluray audio on that will try soon and let you know...

Bob Marley Legend: 30th Anniversary Edition in 5.1 Sense Surround

[attachmentid=4079415]

Something interesting happened at my local CD store today.

The lady boss contacted me and told me that the above is now available.

I texted her back pass (meaning I'll give it a pass). Two days later, she texted me back that my order has arrived!!

She took my "pass" as in pass the exam, I want!! laugh.gif

So I picked the disc up today and discovered this is mix in 5.1.

Got back, put in in and... IT IS GOOD!!!!

So much better compared to the Stereo version!!!

Sound separation, vocals and instrumentation are all clearly defined!!

This albums has most of Bob Marley greatest hits.

No Woman No Cry, Three Little Birds, One Love & I Shot the Sheriff, all here.

It would really REALLY sad if this format does not take off even with all these wonderful titles.

@Mov_freak how much did you buy this? Bought it before seeing this thread for RM105.90 at Rock Corner KLCC, it's a book packaging with a CD and the Blu-ray Audio. My first ever Blu-ray Audio.

Hi Aiman04

The price is about right.

I did not play the CD copy yet, only the Bluray Audio copy

Have you played the CD version?

Why is the No Woman No Cry song much longer in the CD (Seven Minutes) compared to the Bluray Audio disc (# Minutes)?

That's a relief, thought I overpaid. Listening to the CD on my workstation with a pair of V-Moda headphones, nice and sweet. No Woman No Cry on the CD is the live version, hence the longer duration.

No sure how the CD compares to the BD-A yet, will only get to hear when I get home later. smile.gif

The Bluray Ray Audio version is also live, but I like it. I think they truncated it....

You are in for a treat, when you play the Blurau Audio version tonight.
