George Michael: Symphonica Blu Ray AudioThis is really an odd release...
This is actually a concert done by George in 2011- 2012... Why on earth would they release this on Blu ray Audio, instead of a blu ray disc (concert)...
It was touted as the first blu ray audio release concurrent with it's CD counterpart (well, at least for a big record label)
Sonically, it is good. George Michael back by a Symphony!!
It is good that a season recording artist show young'un how it is done (eg. no lip synching). You hear him hitting the keys and also breathing, with the crowd cheering him on!!
Supposedly, he will be releasing a new album (studio) later this year. Wonder if he will release that concurrently on Blu ray audio!!
Also a few surprises here, him singing Terence Trent D'Arby (Let Her Down Easy), E Maccoll (The First Time, I Ever Saw Your Face), Anthony Newley & Leslie Bricusse (Feeling Good) and Sting (Roxanne).
This album don't seem to have any fast song.
In 1990 - 1992 George had a famous "break-up" with Sony. George accused Sony for not promoting his second solo album (Listened Without Prejudice Part 1) and Sony retaliated by stating it is George own fault for the low sales number by refusing to appear in any of the MTVs and attending any live promotion himself!
From what I understood from that situation, Sony wanted to maintain the "Sex Symbol" status of George Michael while George Michael wanted to sell "Sensitive Artist" instead...
What I can say is George Michael is sticking to the later and that could explain the lack of Concert Bluray for this...
I for one think that a concert Bluray would have made more sense.
This is a well recorded "live" performance
