In a round about way yes, but in m2ts format. So not "useful" in a sense.

Maroon 5: V (2014)

Am a bit underwhelmed by this...

Was expecting more from the first contemporary album release on this format (blu ray audio), was expecting alot more....

Disappointing...

My Two Sen

** Addendum**

My apologise.

I tested this disc, when my system was still influx...

Some of you might know I had experience a flood recently at my place and my setup was basically taken apart.

I have been putting thing together and also upgrading my system (eg amp) so my system was not at it best when I test this disc.

Having said that, after tweaking my system (bass was too boomie), I retried the disc (my other disc are all in storage) and was pleasantly surprise.

This is a good disc. Not reference material, and have to add, for a contemporary it is very good.

No 5.1 option, but well produced and tight bass (Initially, the bass was everywhere... and that turned out to be by system's fault and not the disc)

Again my apologise

Tears for Fears: Songs from the Big Chair (1985)

Wow, what a blast from the past!!

And in 5.1 Surround.

Sound engineer Steven Wilson did an amazing job with the 5.1 separation!!!

Track 01 Shout

Percussion from the surround speakers, clear as a bell (no pun intended tongue.gif)!!

Bass riffs from the front left speakers.

Keyboards (different sound, emerge from different speakers) Either the front right speaker or surround speakers

Vocal from the Center speakers.

I played the different sound options available, namely

1) 24bits/96kHz PCM Stereo
2) 24bits/96kHz 5.1 DTS-HD MA
3) 24bits/96kHz 5.1 PCM

I ended up liking (again) the 5.1 DTS-HD MA format the best, although truth to be told 5.1 PCM although slight more "mute" was also very pleasant.

Track 3 Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Again everything is crystal clear. The Keyboard, The Guitar Riffs and the drums.

Bass is great and vocals, you cannot ask for better (please note we are talking Tears For fears standard)

Track 7 Head Over Heals

Beautiful, just beautiful....

Been in a funk recently, and this trip down memory lane is most welcome.

The only thing missing is, is only the track Mad World (yes, the song from Donnie Darko (2001). In the movie Gary Jules did a cover version that went through the roof. Please remember the original performers were Tear For Fears)

If you like Tears For Fears and you have a decent 5.1 setup, please PLEASE consider this.

Have a great 2015 everyone!

Ok, let me keep the story short. Last month, I have a chance buying 3 bluray audio (thank to Mov_freak's help): Elton John's, Tear for Fear's and Bryan Adam. Listened all and the last title auditioned was Bryan Adam's reckless. All the 3 share a common: multichannel.

The Reckless is a rather special one, the multi-channel (MC) is an original recording from 16-track machine. To me, the MC on the disc sound a lot better than the remastered stereo tracks: The separation of music instruments and vocal was like live. Guitar sound through distortions was so vivid giving you the impression are they came from the stage, singing along just for you. The vocal are richer, especially the duet with Tina Turner, where you can clearly hear the tore-voice of Tina really clear. Finally, the only downside is the drum sound which I think it is not vibrate and dynamic enough compared to modern recording, I guess I can't blame on it as this was recording almost 20 years ago. If you are BA or rock fan, seriously, give this title a try, you will never disappointed.

Overall, this is consider one of the best true to original bluray audio I owned. I wish more titles in original multi track like this to be made available soon.

Very cool.

I wonder when the bluray from sony will be available soon?

Looking forward to the MJ's Thriller. I believe sony may do a better job in bluray audio.

Awww man, I don't see my favourite artists.

Though I don't have the proper equipment to unleash the full potential, I'd like to have it just so I can re-collect my previously sold CDs in a higher-res digital format. Would benefit when I upgrade my system later in the future. I've seen only one album, but I have only downloaded it (and deleted), but yet to find one to buy.

Forget HFPA, I can't even find them in SACD format.

True, the selection of bluray audio and SACD is extremely limited. I am waiting long for my favorite albums to be available as well.

Just curious, which artist are you looking for?

Rage Against the Machine. Those are my top 2.
There are others, but accounting for music selection and actual recording quality, these are my priority. Wouldn't matter for others because their recording quality is atrocious, any higher-res won't make them sound better only easier to hear "nuances" which are many. tongue.gif Though I don't quite understand how these high-res "re-releases" work.

RATM have made high quality recordings, bordering audiophile quality too. Muse have released SACD format but I have yet to find one locally (I assume they'd have to be imported version not local remasters). They don't have the best recording, but they're not the worst. I jut wish that they'd be a bit 'quieter'.

Oh, RATM, they was pretty hot in 90' and I usually associated them with NIN. Anyway, I think they are not really that major to the point that the recording will re-release their album in an alternate format, judging from the profit making side.

However, RATM is s very unique band like pearl jam, NIN, and I do wish to see all music available in high definition format.

I believe the muse one is not an official release?

Yeah it was a limited edition release.

RATM made a different sort of sound and music, and it would be great that their music can live on as high-res. I got hooked when I fist got their CD in a garage sale in Australia for $1. laugh.gif I was too young when they reached their peak back then, so only in my teens that I can appreciate them.
