Chrome is settings then in the search settings textbox type in "hardware" you'll see an option that says
"Use hardware acceleration when available"

Uncheck it and see.

That is a Surface Pro connected to a USB powered monitor, and the W510 on the side. I've been using Windows Tablets for a long time already. wink.gif

Seriously if one of the main uses of a tablet for you is to watch videos, you should really consider a Baytrail device. Imagine being able to consume any file straight from the Internet without having to transcode it!

Hi Marauderz,

Thank you for the testing, just wondering if you able to do the testing 1080p hi10p file from http://www.koi-sama.net/files/hi10/ which having really high bit-rate and try it out with LAV filter/decoder and Enhanced Video Renderer (i dont expect current atom is strong enough for MadVR Renderer)

Also may i know if it is possible to use 720p resolution via display settings and does the touch screen accurate for 720p resolution (this is for media center use via given HDMI port)

maybe i will skip baytrail and goes for next generation atom that support hardware h265/vp9

iconia w4 really is a good value tablet to buy (4 core atom, ips panel, 64gb storage, windows 8 with office)

I'm using the latest MPC-HC which is already using LAV, video renderer is EVR already. Not sure what MADVR is but it shows up as unavailable under my MPC settings, I'm gonna guess it's some renderer that enables something? Animated ASS effects?

refer here for madvr, you will get better idea. It just provide a little better Image quality copared to EVR (but takes more cpu cycle and gpu resource)

i just wondering if you can test with the file below just to check whether baytrail can run really high bit rate hi10p file

Your external output question was interesting enough for me to run out of bed and give it a test. And it's time for good news, bad news time.

bad news is... yeah, something funny happens when you plug in a hdmi cable tongue.gif good news is you CAN work around the problem, and I found out why Halo: Spartan Ops behaves the way it does. I'll explain in another video tomorrow.

As for the file... the site is SLOOOOOW... almost done though.

Oh gods... it 330 and I'm still posting in the forums tongue.gif

Great news, the W4 kicked the crap out of the test video, all subtitle animations displaying correctly. wink.gif

Selecting MadVR as the renderer gave some performance issues, until I tweaked the settings abit, which I think still means it might not meet your requirements.

Specifically I noticed that it was using bicubic for a lot of scaling algorithms, so I switched it to GPU Bilinear and it worked fine. Fine but of course it consumes 100% of CPU time during playback obviously.

Will test the effects on external monitor output when I wake up and then make a video, since this is gonna be interesting tongue.gif

Win8 experience score
Cpu 6.3
Memory 5.5
Graphic 4.3
Gaming 4.2
Disk 7.05

System 4.2

Result may not be accurate, as i know z3740 should be score at 4.3 only

I don't think the WES is a good gauge for performance.

Here's the Acer W4's display driver quirk. External video usage to come later.

thanks for the review. Holding on for more in depth review from more users. I've taken a test drive just now at the fair. Decent speed with no lag. However, it is more difficult to move around in desktop mode. I've enlarged the icon and text by moving the scale of the display. It is more manageable. Since no more 999 offer price and acer ate their own words of 10 units (RM899.00) each day, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon yet.

thank you for the test, if it can play the required test video smoothly , im sure it able to play 99% 1080p video on the internet. this is better than snapdragon 800 tested with the same test file, maybe it is because libav codec for x86 are much efficient than ffmpeg codec for arm.

i never thought baytail is this powerful, with 22nm manufacturer process, this is like underclock celeron already (but it is quad-core)
