Yup. 3 years ago I applied, also had to go to SG.

Anyway, have already applied. All can be done online now. But their website is still confusing as fark.
Now just need to go to the VAC in KL to submit my passport and pay some money.

Hey guys, just wanted to ask, are there any other payments that we need to make at the US Embassy once we're cleared all counters?

Previously in 2014, at the last counter, if i'm not mistaken, we'd need to pay USD 9 equivalent. Is this still the case?
*
I just went for my interview yesterday. Nope, there is no additional payment.

I paid the visa fee online via JomPay. Filled up the form online and printed out the confirmation everything.
Scheduled for interview. Went for my interview yesterday. Appointment at 11.30am, arrived around 11.10am, was called in around 11.15am. Got everything done by 11.40am. The only thing they look at was the passports. Printed all the other documents also they didn't ask for anything. At the end of interview, she just said ok you're all done, you can collect your visa tomorrow.

Today receive SMS with tracking number for each passport that I can collect it at Aramex PJ.

Thank you for your response.

Let's say I'm going on March 1st, should I apply for this ETA already? Or wait till perhaps 2 weeks more, thank you.
*
ETA is approved immediately and it's valid for a year from the day you apply for it.
You can apply it 2 weeks before or few days before it's up to you. As long as your credit card payment went thru, you'll be fine.

*
Print out to be safe. They have it all in their system though.

I see some website offering ETA registration for RM20/RM30. Is there such package?
*
If you use local travel agents, apparently it's that rate also. I believe stimix and some other users here have tried other websites that charge RM20/30 for the ETA.

But I prefer to just use the official one la. Don't want any hassle upon arriving after flying so bloody long over the never ending aussie desert lol.

Guys, any idea how long before the expiry of my Malaysian passport can I apply for renewal?
*
You can renew them anytime but it'll only give you 6 months max in the new validity period. Usually we renew it around 6 months before expiry since we can't travel out if it has less than 6 months validity anyways.

What do you mean by it'll only give me 6 months max in the new validity period?

Assuming my passport will expire in May 2021, but for some reasons I have to renew it the earliest in June 2019, the new expiry date will then be somewhere in year 2024, no?
*
Say your passport expires May 2021, it's usable up to November 2020.
If you renew after November 2020, your new passport will be valid until May 2026.
If you renew in June 2019, your new passport will be valid until December 2024.

Basically, you pay the same price for the renewals but you lose out on a few months/years if you renew earlier before the last 6 months of your current's passport expiry date.
In your example above, you lost out about 1.5 years of validity but if it's convenience you're looking for, then there should be no issue.

Hi everyone, just wanna ask you guys/girl..having issue with filling up the form for VISA ETA for Australia.

1. VISA ETA or VISA TRAVELLING? any differences? im just going there for travel for 10 days.

2. Lets say my name as per IC/PASSPORT is Alex Chee Sin Meng.
The form requested:

Family Name: Chee
Given Names: Alex Chee Sin Meng

Is that how I should fill up my name?

Its so confusing at the moment. I'm not even sure that I bought the airticket is named correctly. Please help me. If my name is registered wrongly in AIRASIA ticket, do you all know whats the penalty like to change name?

Btw, I'm registering from this website:

https://www.eta.immi.gov.au/ETAS3/etas
*
Malaysian need ETA to enter Aussie. Just apply for an ETA and you're good to go.

For all international and airline forms, you should put your family/last name as "Chee" and given/first names as "Alex Sin Meng". Remember that, for ALL forms with that format you fill up in the future as well.

For wrong name on AirAsia ticket, not sure about penalty but you can check on the AirAsia thread. I think it's not that difficult to get it changed. If it's just minor ones usually it's ok as long as DOB is correct. But better be sure to contact AirAsia.

Yes that website is legit.

Hi, wanted to ask about passport validity.

If my passport expires November 30, and I want to enter and exit Thailand on May 24 (no overnight), is it ok? Or better go renew? Is the 6 month thing very strict?
*
It's only a few days short of 6 months.
If I were you, I would just renew my passport.

Hi Munkeyflo, thanks for replying.

I've change the ticket name to the correct version but still waiting for 48 days for changes it seems. I just did name change yesterday and seems like no penalty being charge expect further advise from airasia..hope no penalty.

For the ETA, if apply from website need $20 but I've ask RELIANCE agency to help submit for me would be just RM50. Izit safe or reliable to ask RELIANCE agency to help me apply the ETA?
*
Reliance is a pretty reputable travel company so I would not be worried if I were you. Some people here say some travel agents charge only rm20 too and it's legit. So far I've not tried those rm20 ones since applying online far more convenient for me.

Hello, I'll be travelling to Sichuan, China for a week on my own without travel agency.
It's my first time so I don't know how to do Visa.
Can do online? How much does it cost and how long does it last?
How early before my travel date do I need to apply?

TQ

2. How far in advance should I submit my application?
You should make your application well in advance of the planned travel date. You are advised to apply ONE month in advance but no earlier than THREE months.

Please do google. Everything you are asking for are easily found on their website.
You need to submit at their office. If you're not in KL, just get a travel agency to do it.

Need permit to get car to travel various country?
*
Depends where you are traveling to. If like Korea and Japan, you'll need an International Drivers Permit (IDP). Basically you just need to pay JPJ to get it.
http://www.jpj.gov.my/web/eng/international-driving-permit

Certain countries just require a translation of your driving license (e.g. NZ, Aussie). However, our new driving license already has english on it so it's good to use in those country. You can pick up your rental car with your license in those countries.

Hi all, appreciate if you could advise if "https://easyeta.com/app/applynow.php"  legit?

Not sure. If you've already purchase from there, maybe you can check your ETA on the Aussie gov website. Gov websites usually ends with .gov.au.

QUOTE(azkoleq @ May 24 2017, 05:08 PM)
Hi, if I want to drive in Hawaii, do I need IDP? Or my driving license is acceptable.
*
If I recall correctly, you don't need the IDP. But it's better if you do, especially if you do not have the latest driving license which comes in dual languages.

planning to go taiwan next year
need to apply for visa or anything before hand?

first time going oversea for holiday alone
*
Nope, visa not needed for Taiwan. Just make sure you have all your accommodation booking in hand if they require any additional details. Key rule of traveling to other countries (especially when solo travel) is to have enough evidence that you are going there for holiday only and have no intentions of working in their country.

In addition, a rough itinerary and a proof of return flight will greatly help. I've been asked for proof of return flight in UK, Aussie and Russia before.
*
Proof of return flight is very important. Some countries will not let you in if you cannot show them proof of return flight. NZ is one of them, you have to buy the return flight at the immigration if you do not have one. Also, sometimes airlines won't let you board the flight if you do not have a return flight.

If you fly to NZ/Aus via AirAsia, there's usually another officer checking your passport at the departure gate to make sure you have the correct visa or a return flight ticket.
