QUOTE(junclj @ Nov 9 2008, 07:23 PM) Simply say, digital sound is a wave sound which transfer in "bit". A bit different to analog which you listen n years before with your cassette. the CD and all the mp3, WMA and lossless are encoded into 44khz and 16 bit format...high bit depth is for enhancing the dynamic range, theoretically upsampling to 24 bit from 16 bit won't help to make the 'more detailed voice' and 'more nature than 16-bit', because the extra 8 bit is use to represent the white noise which equal to nothing, and yourself also can't feel the different, no point you talk about it...16-bit is something like a CD sound quality. 24-bit is is something like a DVD sound quality. But when you compare by digital with analog sound. Sometimes in digital wave sound, you cannot listen to some details in the music. Some of the sound listen like not nature, maybe the voice when you talking then after record into digital wave was change to another voice. Analog sound is more details and more nature but a big problem is when you playing it such like a cassette. Sometimes fast and sometimes slow and also the big disadvantage is low fidelity. If you obtain a Creative sound cards, you set their sound quality to 24-bit and 96KHz. You will feel that sound is better than a CD music. The sound is improved to more details during you listen a song. Higher bit generate more detailed voice. You will feel the sound is more nature than 16-bit. But usually its not much different, you still can listen a high quality song at 16-bit. My own conclusion is, there have no different between 16-bit and 24-bit. I cannot listen out what are their difference with my sound card. Still 16-bit is a good standard for a digital wave sound. I cannot explain too much because I not very expert about this. Good sound card because of good DAC, which can convert the digital form to analogue with more detail (bit perfect), not for listen to your so called '24 bit more natural sound'... QUOTE(TheWandererX @ Nov 9 2008, 09:48 PM) Oh... Thanks you two for the detailed explaination. XD I'm really enlightened now. dude, don't misunderstood, most of the sound card the minimum standard is 96khz/24 bit now, no point to find those 16 bit external sound card, and i don't think you could get it...Anyway, where can I get the Trust one? Or are there any other 16-bit external soundcards? I'm really really low on funds... so I can't afford to get expensive stuff. well, if your main purpose of purchasing external sound card is for surround movie, get at least external Creative SB Live!24 bit, you can get it between RM160-200, or you can go to search at garage sales.... bare in mind that newest standard of 96khz/24bit card sounds better than old 44khz/16bit card is not due to the standard itself, but the better quality components used... QUOTE(moniqee @ Dec 28 2008, 07:52 AM) ![]() this socket....the upper yellow one... Few users can't control their 4121 volume, volume suddenly set to max or no sound due to this socket , i dealed with this problem before as my friend owned this speaker as well, but i didn't fix for him since not so serious, just unplug and plugin again....i saw your case quite similar with that, so i guess is that problem too. |

QUOTE(kubing @ Jan 5 2009, 03:33 PM) but Not all of them the best. New MX5021 cut cost version not produce reasonable sound at all. How to check? open the satellite and look at printed circuit board. They have Capasitor and coil. Old version have 2 coil(big black color component) with 3 small caps. But cut cost version only has one coil and 2 caps. Well, the coil is called inductor...that printed circuit board is actually called 'crossover'...depends on how you see it...if the driver is same as the old version but with lesser component, i will call it as 'cut cost'...but the truth was the driver not the same as the 1st batch. I will called that as 'redesign'. anyway, if this speaker not produce reasonable sound at all, i will call others AL speaker( including old ADA,ACS and ATP series) as 'unlistenable', do you agree? QUOTE(shah_ty @ Jan 15 2009, 05:45 PM) i'm using IXOS Gamma Geometry cable as my input and also change the speaker wires already. Inside got 1 piece of 560mH inductor, that one is the crucial part.it does have some improvements but i'm still not satisfied thinking on modding the X-over this weekend I opened before and changed the wire inside. |

QUOTE(Faint @ Jan 15 2009, 09:55 PM) Just a soldering iron will do the job...but quite difficult for newbie, because the cable was glued, so to pull it out while melt it with soldering iron is quite challenging. but the trace is wide enough, won't spoil easily...This post has been edited by coolkwc: Jan 15 2009, 11:22 PM |

QUOTE(Faint @ Jan 15 2009, 11:42 PM) Not much to mod actually...maybe will change the high pass capacitor for the tweeter later, still finds the good cap now...about the inductor, quite difficult to find the smaller one that can fit inside the satellite. |
