Hi, can anyone recommend me a gear lock that got good quality and cost around RM200-RM250?

And also a good dash cam for RM300? I dont want those that writes outside the box saying 1080HD, but actual only 480p or 720p. I want a real at least 720p or better than that for a price or RM300.

Preferably in klang valley only

There's a dedicated Dashcams thread here... How about you don't be lazy and go check it out.. It has tons of real world reviews, tests and price info on various dashcams.. doh.gif

Here you go... [WTA] Recommend Traffic Recorder, or Car DVR or Blackbox or...

Also late last year while conducting my research into which dashcam to buy.. I settled on the Viofo A119 as the minimum performance to settle for. There's a newer A119s, but I had mixed feelings over it back then. A couple firmwares might have been released for both devices since then. So check em out.. This should help you quickly narrow down your search. IMO, don't settle for lesser performing devices.

Yup... I noticed awhile back.. "Early adopters' price"... I don't plan on being one until sufficient real world testing proves it's worth it. Been following some talk on it and a buyer complained about it being too slow to download files to his phone via WiFi. Even after downloading, was unable to play it.. Codec issue I guess.. Though solvable by using a third party video player like VLC, etc. Anyway, too much hassle for him, had it returned..

Waiting on your review and comparison to the A119. smile.gif

Setting up soon. Hopefully can get some evening and night videos.

I was thinking of doing a WR1 VS A119S since both is Sony sensor and 1080p. A119 is native 1440p.
*
Nice.. Take your time and do it right..

I hope you can do both separately as I'm leaning more towards the A119 V2 than the A119S.. Done some research and so far not fully convinced that the A119S trumps the A119 so much to shell out the extra cash. So hoping that the WR1 will be more convincing.

I'll do the review for WR1 first then later will do a vs video for day and night if time permits.

Anyway, I tested the streaming over Wi-Fi and it was buffering after watching every 5 seconds. I saw inside the microsd and its 300+mb per video file and not the smaller video files that you'll see on the mijia or yI dashcams which gives faster streaming.

Also, I don't think the WR1 can compete with A119's video quality but it's small, have Wi-Fi and can rotate 360. Can consider to be a no frills dashcam. Could be a hit with others looking for the above.
*
Hmm...So the guy who complained about slow speeds over WiFi is right... IMO, Should the video quality be acceptable and WiFi performance improved.. I could consider it.. Cuz my primary interest in it is the size and WiFi capabilities (love me wireless, reasonably fast, convenience, everything). Else, it's a no go.. If the A119/A119S had WiFi capabilities.. I'd be sold immediately. smile.gif

I expected the WR1 can't compete with the A119 or A119S. Video bit rate at 14.2 Mb/s. But still, consider quite clear video quality. The only drawback is the US99.99 price tag.

Maybe new firmware will have improved image quality like firmware V1.7 for the A119S.

But I like the new form factor of the WR1. Considering it to use it as a rear dashcam.

Voncrane Get the A119 from banggood with 20% off coupon and free gifts.

Yeah, performance vs current price makes it a hard sell. Checking out banggood... Now need to figure out a specific SD card to use and how much storage is needed for average daily driving.

For A119, 64GB can record about 7 hours drive for videos with overall bit rate of 20.2Mb/s.
*
Okay, final hurdle.... Did some reading on which card to get.. Transcend's high endurance 64GB comes out top, but the price.. wow!.. Can I get away with 32GB instead? I get that upgrading to 64GB offers a more durable card (cuz space -- rewrites).. Also, how about SanDisk's high endurance lineup? Same question 32GB vs 64GB..? Essentially, if I can get away with 32GB (since it's going to be on a loop anyway), why 64GB?

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Jul 10 2017, 11:22 AM)
Suction is easy to stick on and remove. I like for reviewing purpose. Tape mount is more permanent but I use my own way to stick on with own supply of acrylic mounting tape which is easy to remove than other mounting tapes.

Right now, I would say A119 is a bit better than A119S.
Huawei chipset is getting good. Can see from the few generations in dashcams. Waiting for the Yi 2.7K dashcam to arrive so can test it also as it is using Huawei chipset also.
*
Final nail.. Going with the A119.. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Jul 10 2017, 08:39 PM)
Just imagine having to get 128GB UHS3 microSD card or bigger to cater to 4K laugh.gif  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

Also, have to consider if ppl are willing to spend more than rm500+++ for a real 4K dashcam or not is another question.

There is are some fake 4K dashcams in the market now which the 4K is interpolated.
*
I know right? I'd like to see people's sweat from behind their tinted windows.. laugh.gif ..Now if insurers offer significant discounts on premiums to offset this cost. I'm sure a lot wouldn't mind spending such. Till then? shakehead.gif

32GB is fine for at least 3 hours drive. I know a few of my friends actually bought Netac 128GB UHS3 to use in their A119. I also have a Netac 128GB UHS3 innocent.gif

I read that the Sandisk High Endurance is better than Lexar High Endurance if Transcend High Endurance is too expensive.

Just avoid Sandisk Ultra. Have to find those using MLC NAND chips.
*
Your friends.... notworthy.gif

SanDisk HE is better than Lexar HE..Apparently discovered recently.

Yep, read enough to avoid SanDisk Ultra series. Since SD cards' expected life span is proportional to their capacity. I'll go with the SanDisk HE 64GB as the main and a 16/32GB as backup.. Thanks.

Based on the discussion here, I should be going for Sandisk HE series?

Not so aware they have this HE series now, been using Extreme and Extreme Pro series for my photography tools biggrin.gif.

Guess I'll probably go for the A119 then smile.gif

EDIT: http://www.lazada.com.my/sandisk-high-endu...54429.html?ff=1

This should be sufficient for A119 1440p 30fps right?
*
Yep.. Same one I'm getting.

Earlier discussion regarding the micro SD card, Sandisk HE series is recommended right? Able to sustain A119's 1440p 30fps?

http://www.lazada.com.my/sandisk-high-endu...0.0.tttvaN&ff=1
*
Yea, its suitable.. It's the current recommendation.. However, as with all SD cards.. All is prone to eventual failure.. Have backup.

I saw that cam's review is quite good and seems like highly recommended by members here. But my concern is lack of warranty for such high price item....

You guys know any seller that offer warranty for it? Scared that it die after a week of use and my money gone just like that.
*
Sorry to burst your bubble but RM350 translates to about $80 and that, where dashcams are concerned is definitely not high priced.

I'm going to be blunt.. Increase your budget or deal with crap.

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Jul 24 2017, 11:29 AM)
Also, cannot watch in 2.7K on youtube.

Was thinking of uploading the raw files. But not sure if ppl willing to download 160+mb for the 1-minute video file.

The traffic looks a bit better but have to monitor and see the following week if it's getting better or not. Anyway, very convenient to go into town now with MRT.
*
Pls upload the raw files.. Gdrive, dropbox, etc..

QUOTE(Imagination *-* @ Jul 25 2017, 07:30 PM)
Hi everyone,

I bought this over Gearbest. It's not the Viofo A118c but I think it should be good considering the price.

Was very tempted to go with the A119 but have serious doubts about its degradation in our hot weather.

I've read some complaints on this A118c warping in heat and sort of wanting to test it out in our weather by leaving it parked in our hot sun. If it does fair well then I don't mind getting the a119 later on with the a118c shifted to my rear.

Serious doubts about the A119 in our climate? Mind sharing these doubts, perhaps I've overlooked something. IMO, from extensive research.. The A119 cuz capacitor, build quality, etc, actually comes highly recommended for the Malaysian climate. Plus the V2 has some practical hardware changes.

A119 have gone thru the alpha/beta testing with users around the world. And have improved so much till today and still continue to improve.

Heard maybe a Viofo A119W or dual dashcam is coming soon. I can't wait!
*
Pretty much sums up why I stuck with it... Manufacturers can advertise this and that.. Real world usage is what tells the real truth about a product..

Not bad Viofo..
