Actually dashcams be powered by USB ports. I'm using Aukey 4 USB  ports car charger to power those dashcams I'm reviewing. But don't use the quick charge port.

Only those with proprietary sockets can't.

Yeah.. My bad.. Don't know what happened to my brain then.. Confused under-powered ports (usually in the front) with means of power supply rclxub.gif

Wow....6+ plus, mean say average per day, say 2 hours on road, within 3 days will full, can't even last 1 week. Let me check again the dashcam manual (got it free when bought the car,  biggrin.gif ) The SA told me won't overwrite, need to manually remove and clear when full, mean every few days need to take out and delete  doh.gif

And, thanks for the heads up on Sandisk Ultra, nearly bought at Lazada, but, still want survey. I thought their brand very strong, market leader for SD card, and even more expensive than Kingston. Kingston ok?
*
No offense.. But a dashcam that doesn't overwrite? What model?

Yeah.. Beggar can't be chooser.. I doubt it's RM1xx, cuz that's Yi cams territory already. But it's okay.. Use first as testing bed. Hope it lasts.

QUOTE(tifosi @ Nov 24 2018, 10:15 PM)
I’ve been googling around but could not find any real fix. I’ve tapped to more than 6 or 7 diff fuses and it’s the same result. I tried to tap to my radio but there’s no interruption to the radio during the start stop process but it affects the dashcam. I don’t know if it’s because the hardwire cut off at 11.6V and a restart drop the voltage lower than that. I currently suspect that.

I think I am gonna give up and gonna take it out and rewire it to the ciggy port. Only way to get it work with start stop. Abit ugly but no choice since I use the start/stop quite abit especually in long traffic lights.

Any who wants my original Viofo 2 wire hardwire kit? Sell cheap cheap 😛

Thanks for sharing your experience.. Helps others in similar situations to know what to expect. How about a compromise, give up the istop feature by permanently disabling it? Can be done via software hack.

QUOTE(Kilohertz @ Dec 10 2018, 09:46 AM)
Just curious, is there any dash cam that works 24/7 like a cctv? even when the car is turned off and stationary mode..
*
There are several and often referred to as "Parking Mode". It can be done in various ways (using your car's primary battery or a separate one) and some cams do it better than others. Usually, the pricier ones.. Do a search of this thread with the keywords to see the models. Then check out Blujoey's reviews on those he has. Since you aren't asking about a specific one, hard opto properly explain. So do some reading first to lock down basic knowledge first.

That bad? My last few orders from them was ok.

Some are lucky.. But many have been disappointed lately.. Can see their reviews and complaints on Lazada and Shopee... Plus it's CNY period now.. Long holiday, parcels delivery may get delivered or even lost.

the cable management is bad... doh.gif

You must be new here and not know who blurjoey is.. What you see as bad cable management was probably done on purpose.. Check out his signature for a hint as to why sometimes he really shouldn't bother with best wiring practices... smile.gif

Unless you are referring to the cables that shipped with and the placements on the unit itself... In which case, ride on..

Yup.. Seconded the part about the first page having some sort of FAQs and updated regularly.. Though in typical fashion, sure have some who will still ignore it.. At least, then I can reply.. "Go read first page". biggrin.gif
