Nope.. The 2018 G2 CX-5 kills power to the cig port when engine is off.

I tried both the cigarette lighter power source with the a129:

1- The socket under the aircond control: straight away off after engine off

2- The one in the armrest compartment: stay ON after engine off (i'm not sure for how long havent test fully yet)

My viofo a129 just arrived yesterday & able to install front & rear cam. For now only using the cigarette lighter for the power source.

So far works well & the video quality is great. Just one issue I noticed & if someone can help me here:

I changed the settings to my preference & After each time I start the engine, my cam automatically change the setting back to default.

Anyone encounter this issue with the a129? Any solution?

Thanks!

Try to factory reset the A129 and setup again. Did you run the engine for a while to charge the capacitor?

Yeah... Maybe the capacitor didn't have enough charge to save the settings.

Hmm, never used that port in the armrest compartment.. Will check it out and see..

So you manged to install the A129 rear cam on our hatchback type boot cover? Wires hidden properly and no hindrance opening and closing?

Edit.. Checked the port and power is killed once engine switches off. I consider this normal operation, so you might want to check with SC as to why yours still supplies power even after the engine is switched off and not in ACC mode.

For the rear cam
Its not really hidden. The wire they provide for rear cam is jussstt enough to make it to the rear window so theres 1 small part where I unable to hide the wire but no compromise whatsoever.

Now Im searching for extension wire (Mini B Male to Female) so i can adjust it a bit.

Regarding the cigarette lighter source:
Im gonna try it once again & confirm back.

Thanks!

Anybody use Transcend drivepro 520?
Want to know how well the recording inside.
I got a 2nd concern on positioning where both cam In a device. Correct position on front may not be best position for inside.

I'm considering a cheap spycam cube sell in shopee sq11. But I check on their app for download and viewing is terrible. Any reliable brand that similar that size?

I see.. Not bad, at least you can self install.. Pls do update on your progress. Interested to see how that boot can take a rear cam neatly.

not an issue for my case.. able to hide all the wires with lots of access length for rear cam.. so have to open the rear boot compartment to hide them in.

it was just the rear cable is damn thick and it took lotssss of time to hide all the wires.. rclxub.gif

blurjoey Hi, can the Xiaomi 70mai Pro dashcam be detached from its mount after being installed in the car? That would be helpful if I want to take it down when parking at less secure spots. Thanks in advance!

Most dashcams are usually powered by the ciggie port or fuse.. not USB.
*
Actually dashcams be powered by USB ports. I'm using Aukey 4 USB ports car charger to power those dashcams I'm reviewing. But don't use the quick charge port.

Only those with proprietary sockets can't.
