just because of viewing angle its gonna affect sales for sony ? what a smart statement

reception for the XZ1 since announced had been pretty high and welcomed. sony wont be able to catch up to samsung sales for sure, but for their sales to drop it's not gonna happen as well


on a lighter note.... "the best of sony is about to get better" it's true wad, "the best of sony" is tagline for XZ, now the XZ1 viewing angle is better than XZ already although the problem is still there

Played with display set Z1 in SG yesterday, physically its bigger than Z but I'm happy with how it feels in my hands. And it feels premium too.
One hand operation on Z1 is impossible for me due to the phone size.

Anyway here are snapshots of Z1 leaflet for SG. The standard package doesn't seems to come with dock...

And only QX100 is featured in the leaflet, not sure if QX10 will be available in our market,

Guys, was at 1 Utama just now. There was a Sony Mobile center (near Tangs) and they put up a sign that the Z1 was available!

So, i asked the guy there and he said yes, RM2399 (includes earphones, charger, and the magnetic dock!). Stock just arrived today. I asked for a demo unit, he said dont have... have to wait for a week. But can already purchase if I wanted to!

Will wait for a demo unit to play first before purchase!

in my opinion regarding this viewing angle issue, of course i wan the best screen on my phone, compared my XZ and my iphone 5, i amazed with the contrast, more vibrant color and deep black level of the iphone 5, how i wish my xz was using that kind of screen panel. however most of the time i look at the straight on and the screen is still beautiful. im surprised that z1 didnt use the same panel as zultra or tablet z as these 2 didnt have any viewing angle problem.

btw i totally agree with u, i dont think this viewing angle be too much of an issue to the mass market. the normal average consumer dont care with this kinda of thing, only us techie people are bothered with this kind of thing, things like specs and so on. i met a lot of people - my colleague, or customers, using phones that doesnt has viewing angle issue like s3,s4,iphone 5 note1,2, htc one, but what funny is that these people mostly applied matte type of screen protector. demm matte sp definitely will ruined the beautiful screen, everything looks demm grainy. not to mentioned people that applied privacy or mirror sp. these are even worst, totally killed the viewing angle view.

so i can conclude that, as long as head on view are beautiful, for normal average consumer, they still will buy it. other example are if sony has viewing angle problem, then samsung has this build material issue where they used plastic on their high end phones, but does it affect their sale? not at all.


i still hope that sony will continue improving and give us even better product in the future, my dream phone from sony will be super excellent display for the screen, audio chip from their walkman, good speaker, and excellent camera and software optimization.

It gonna affected, I know you want it badly, but not everyone.

Two my friends already decide skip it because of viewing angle. It just a poor display anyway.

Customer just need to pass by and see "err how come the screen is..." then not even need to step in to check around as the screen already make customer leaving.

Not only display, the bezel is too tick also.

For me, Z Ultra is ahead of Z, using great display, slimmer and much beauty design.

But this Z1? thicker and never look nicer than Z at all, don't said only turn back to poor display after Sony use great display in Z Ultra.

The best of Sony is getting better is not really there, beside the great camera, this Z1 had nothing better than Z Ultra or even Z.

They is a lot wow factor when Sony release Z as Z really is beauty and the water resistance make some point that time. Then Z Ultra another wow factor as people see Sony finally decide use great display on it giant size display and superb slim body, and it against look much sexy than Z. When Z1 announcing, any wow factor? Not really, the detachable lens given much wow factor than this Z1.

All my friends said wow when I show them Z, they said it is sexy beauty, when I show them Z Ultra, they said OMG! over crazy big but look pretty awesome sexiness. During the time I show them Z1, the only comment I get is errr... how come the bezel is that crazy thick, err... so bulky look and etc. No one ever mention it look beauty. The beauty of Z1 no longer there, then now not even on par screen as Z Ultra, what is the left selling point of Z1? Afraid only that camera.
