Just get the compact one, save the hassle of changing lens. If you're not pixel peeper, compact is good enough as nowadays compact's sensor getting bigger

around that pricing can get bridge cameras already, I think can be considered compact also. Try SX50HS? Not sure you'd like it or not. Check the photos produced from the camera here. www.flickr.com/groups/2082775@N20/ Tell me what you think.

P/S: I'm looking to buy a camera too, my preferences are very tough. Refer here https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2958564

Modern bridge cameras do not support interchangeable lens, you will be stuck with one lens only. It's not a DSLR, it's a bridge camera. Quite frankly if you're going to settle with RM2k and only kit lens without wanting to spend thousands more on better lens, no point buying a DSLR. Nice lens on a crappy body > crappy lens on a nice body.

Pricing around RM 1500 if you look around.

Compact camera like X20 or RX100. These compact's sensor size is bigger than bridge camera (SX50HS), photo quality is better.
RX100's sensor is 1", X20 2/3" and SX50HS is only 1/2.3"

Nex series is mirrorless exchangable lenses camera. The photo quality is good too.
I won't recommend bridge camera due small sensor size and the super zoom mechanism always broken after one year.

HTC one and Z1 is very different phone. Z1 uses G lens found on its digital camera and uses 1/2.3'' sensor size

Sony said you can have DSLR Quality compact camera here

http://store.sony.com/c/Cybershot-Digital-...Digital_Cameras

RX1, RX1R , RX100MII maybe out of your price range only left RX100

but shashinki is selling RX100MII at 2399

But if you want to keep your HTC one but want quality like RX100MII you can buy QX100 (USD499) to pair with your phone - click QX series on the same page:-

recently just bought 2 camera.
RM1130 for fujifilm xf-1, really surprisingly good
RM2000 for Pen E-P3, twin zoom lens, it's a keeper because it's such a joy using it

please la, be more considerate when making suggestion. yawn.gif

As for TS, i recommend you sony's rx100 or a mirrorless with pancake if you don't plan to get really serious into photography really soon. Buying a dslr would easily leave you into 2 most common situation. 1) Keep buying more and more gears at the end. 2) The camera end up growing dust at home due to the bulkiness. If you plan to learn deeper into photography, then getting a DSLR is a good choice.

This is very important if you going to use the camera oftenly, nothing beats the comfort of holding the camera. If you don't like how the camera feels in your hand, even if it has the top notch features and quality, you still don't feel good using it. This happened to me before, people suggested me to get a camera that feels good in my hand, I didn't really take note of it since I am a newbie that time. I then purchased a canon 550D, after a year of usage, I regretted for not buying a 60D that time since I really hate the small grip of the 550D now although it's a great camera.
