Hi, hoping to get some input in this. I've posted the exact same thing in the pinned thread but I'm hoping for my recommendation request to reach out to as many members as possible for more opinions, please forgive me!

I'm thinking of purchasing a new camera (upgrade from my old Finepix J38 and Nokia X7's fixed focus camera)

My preferences:

1) Articulated LCD is a must.
2) Price range of RM 1500 odd.
3) Can record 1080p video (fps 30 and above and if possible can record slow motion)
4) Have viewfinder if possible.
5) Decent flash
6) Preferably have touch-screen and WiFi connectivity like Canon's S110

Please recommend me a good camera based on my preferences! Thank you so much!

Not sure if it's even worth getting a DSLR or not, I guess I could just settle with a higher-end compact camera instead, I like the G12 but it's a bit out-dated, is it?

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Fixed lens camera?
Budget: RM1500 +/-
Your Location: KL, Cheras
Preferable brand : Canon or Nikon
Type of photography u want to do : camwhoring with friends, landscape, event photographs
Any specific models in mind? : Nikon P7700, D5100, Canon G12
Any specific features u want? : Please look above. notworthy.gif

TS, from what i know, RM1500 for a articulate screen unit is very hard to get, Canon G12 is a articulated screen one, but replace by the new G15, which is non articulated unit, SRP RM1599...guess this unit suit your budget, and i guess you have a few units to buy in mind...

nowaday major compact can do 1080P, is just a matter of video audio quality and control and the FPS

Viewfinder? guess only Canon Power Shot G suits you...or you want to try the Fujifilm X20, which is far more superior in control and ISO handling...or just get a D5100 just like you stated, basically have all the feature you stated there

then about flash, what do you mean by decent? i rarely meet a compact camera with decent flash and dedicated flash exposure control, which they normally blow face highlight kaw kaw, unless you spent on the high end ones (eg. Fujifilm X100)...correct me if in am wrong

last thing is the touchscreen and wifi. For touchscreen you have to try Micro 4/3 camera, which is incredible easy and fast with touchAF capturnig, eg. Lumix GF5 or GX1...then for wifi, just get a wifi SD card you are good to go, or Canon G16, wifi build in

so erm, i recommend few unit here. Canon G15, Fujifilm X20, Lumix LX-7, Sony NEX 3N

happy shopping then! smile.gif

Thanks bro, for now I think I'll wait for the release of the P7800 first! See how the Malaysian pricing will be then I'll decide. thumbup.gif
