I suspect your efs backup is based on newer roms. Probably the reason why u cant use old modem on newer roms.Samsung Galaxy Note II LYN's Official Thread V27, 4.3 is here, but no Note 3 features

Im pretty sure my EFS is based on older ROM, bcoz after I flashed DME6 Rom, my EMEI is corrupted and I can't restore my IMEI. And my Modem is DME4.
Only I flash older stock Rom with Odin, then I able to restore my IMEI... Btw, what is the different between Kernel changer and Modem changer? I saw the guide, he talks about flashing kernel changer... But usual custom Rom comes witrh custom kernel right? Does it related to modem? |

Not all custom rom comes with custom kernel. Most comes with stock kernel. He asked to change the kernel cos the new kernel partition the efs differently so you cannot use the older modem. So in order to use older modem on newer rom you must use older kernel or custom kernel.Only I flash older stock Rom with Odin, then I able to restore my IMEI... Anyway, just for custom ROM flashing so no issue. Glad that Hawkish 4.3 looks good. |

Philz looks nicer but I'm used to CWM's interface, looks like I will go for CWM first and pray hard no issue. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 21 2013, 10:21 AM) Is SuperSu zip included in the package or I will need to download somewhere? Not at Hawkish thread. I download the package off XDA from somewhere else which teached how to root the Note II. Should be easy to google as it is specific for 4.3.Philz looks nicer but I'm used to CWM's interface, looks like I will go for CWM first and pray hard no issue. My steps yesterday: 1. Use Odin to push Philz recovery into unrooted stock Note II. 2. Boot into recovery and flash SuperSU. 3. Install Hawkish 4.3 4. Installation hang half way in Aroma menu - pull battery, boot into recovery again. 5. Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik. 6. Flash Hawkish 4.3 again, success. 7. Reboot system and check root lost. 8. Power down and boot into recovery, flash SuperSU again. 9. Reboot into system and do a factory reset again. 10. Done. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 21 2013, 10:44 AM) Thanks for the steps! i think so - since you are already on rooted Note II, much easier to flash. Actually i also not very sure whether my steps are the correct ones but anyway they work. Based on those steps, I think I can flash SuperSu after flashing ROM and not before and after right? Can't wait! Been some time since I last flashed my phone. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 21 2013, 11:25 AM) I had problems flashing 4.3 roms on outdated recovery. The old recovery doesnt support 4.3 roms. After getting the latest TWRP everything works fine. No need to flash SuperSU again. |

No need to flash SuperSU again. Yeah, I think my CWM could be too outdated for 4.3.http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/115 I think this should be the latest version? Or I'll go for Philz. |
