Please provide architectural view link.

There are 2 points to note:

1. Performance per watt ie consumption
2. 32 vs 64 bits

For 1, Intel seems slowly but surely getting there, and they might even leapfrog a bit and beat ARM at some point.

For 2, I don't know if their current mentality allows them to give a non-castrated chip and claiming 64 bits.

Yess precisely. Intel has been known to do this to their chips.

There was an early look by anandtech which compared the perf of a merrifield soc and another chip, was early this year so i cant really remember already.

About the 64 bit part, we all know intel is late to the game, so maybe somewhere around 2015?

Nice.

I was reading an Anandtech article about Silvermont from May, and here is what keeps Atoms back:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6936/intels-...us-about-mobile

.....At the risk of oversimplifying the decision here, Intel had to weigh die area, power consumption as well as the risk of making Atom too good when it made the decision to keep Silvermont’s design width the same as Bonnell. A wider front end would require a wider execution engine, and Intel believed it didn’t need to go that far (yet) in order to deliver really good performance.

In general, it not higher performance than MSM8974 - Snapdragon 800. Only few win but mostly not especially the GPU. Don't talk it may not support 4K video yet.

I don't see this chipset is great enough to take over yet. It still under Atom category.

Wait until Intel decide out new range processor first just talk.

I know Intel can make it but just Intel going to do it or not.

If you want bigger screen, more features, 4K video record - Get Note 3.

If you want 20.7MP - get Z1. (Sorry I can't think much better from Sony Z1 anymore, design - Z1 is normal, not as nice look as Z or Z Ultra. Screen wise, Sony is back to old type panel, no longer outstanding.)

Actually, I now wonder of the utility of cameras in smartphones. N8, PV808, Lumia etc etc and now Z1.... I had the N8, got it because of the camera, and in fact I got all my Nokias BECAUSE of the camera. However, at this stage, everyone has got a pretty decent camera, even the China phones have decent cameras.

When you snap something with your phone, it's never going to beat a DSLR or even a prosumer type point and shoot.

So I wonder, for those who love staring at their own pics on a small screen, does it really matter at all???

All pics of digital cameras on phones that I've seen have some level of noise, and even the best phone cams can have noise. So selling a phone now due to the camera may not be an easy proposition. See every ad that extols the phone's camera shows the model viewing the result on the phone, even editing and uploading from the phone. And when you upload to FB or whatever, the resolution gets downgraded....

Just something to think about.

A smartphone + QX10 may be a far better proposition. If budget permits and the reviews are good I should be getting one too.

Review show QX10 image quality is fair, just having a longer zoom compare to smartphone

Better get QX100 if you demand for better image quality.

I don't stare at the pixels on my pics tongue.gif

I prefer long zoom to capture things I want to see brows.gif but I don't aim for award winning quality.

I have no DSLR since I find them to be unwieldy and I rarely view my pics more than once or twice. I managed to capture the transit of Venus with my 10x point and shoot, with digital zoom out to 40x and a hastily folded ad-hoc filter, and I haven't looked at the pic since laugh.gif

I have a DSLR but nowadays I prefer get a good PnS like the RX100 II laugh.gif
DSLR is heavy, burglar attracting when travelling. Use DSLR for important shot only

I agree with one thing with Apple, photo is about the moment. Until you manage to get your DSLR great stuff is no longer there

But I can't think much any selling point of Z1 anymore beside camera. Sony really put not enough thought on it.

Sometimes noise does not means bad, it depends how well it get control.

You are right now most phone camera with great camera even China brand phone.

I still remain my DSLR as I know certain situation still need DSLR.

But a good point and shoot like mobile camera is required for instant capture the moment. DSLR never can get as due to it is impossible you bring it every moment unless you are a real photographer and you earn meal from it beside hobbies, or your are a extreme enthusiasm photographer where you can't life without bringing the gear.

Gpu wise, its as good as an ipad 4, and this is their FIRST ultra mobile gpu, so I expect the 2nd gen one to be really good. Lets see how it performs, in MWC 2014 laugh.gif
