QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Jan 27 2014, 09:59 PM) Interest income is little because your deposit amount is little. That lucky young fella from Tmn Connaught who won magnum RM7.8m jack pot recently can earn FD interest RM25k per month just doing nothing. Little or not little? Aiyo, I just read and realized that this is a true news..But what I read was that this young man won 7.58 million from Bigsweep 1-3D Jackpot in Chreas Taman Connaught. Let's say if he put all 7.58 million in BR FD to earn 4.6% per year for 5 years, he can earn RM 348680.00 interest per year for doing nothing.., QUOTE(bbgoat @ Jan 28 2014, 10:09 AM) Well, it depends on the expenditure of a person, single/have family, life style etc. For some, RM38k is enough for 1 year. I agree this depends on the individual lifestyles and expectations.RM1 million is nothing nowadays as compared to 30 or 40 years ago. Of course having the 1 million is still better than not having it. Can get RM42k yearly and more from BR FD !! Ha ha ! If we go often to night club, Genting, Everyday Night Fever..and etc..then 10 million also can be gone in 1 year... QUOTE(pinpinmiao @ Jan 27 2014, 07:00 PM) Gong Xi Fa Chai with effective rate of 3.46% assuming you get nothing out of the 20% SA requirement. Because here is Malaysia; if in the US, UK or European countries, they can be sued for misleading consumers.. QUOTE(bbgoat @ Jan 29 2014, 10:04 PM) I was in the branch last week to place new FD. The ABM was with me all the while. I think I brought out the topic about the hamper and "complained" that last year hamper is "cheap cheap". He said he has submitted request to get the hampers and will inform me to collect it later. They have a list draw up on eligible depositors. I saw the list (from a distance) as he tried to tell me not everyone is entitled to it (have relatives who are not entitled to it). Aiyo... if your relatives know that you receive hamper, and they do not have hamper.. this indicates that you have more money than them in BR.., then how..? After Bank Negara meeting yesterday, Bank Negara remains 3.00% OPR until their next meeting
to be held on 6 March 2014. Source: http://www.bnm.gov.my/index.php?ch=en_pres...ac=2951&lang=en QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Jan 30 2014, 06:37 AM) Few years ago, (I think before Najib time), it was taxable if put RM 100K or more on one FD cert; then we had to split RM 100K into 2 FD certs. Now no tax at all regardless of the amount on one FD cert. |

I attached the pix here, are they the same like yours? It seems you received 2 diff hampers ? I received 2 hampers but both same type. It looked diff from the one you posted. I think diff branch bought the hampers differently from diff supplier. Anyway, Happy Chinese New Year to all who celebrate it !! Getting close to it now !! Another sharing here (= airing my frustration here!)
I mentioned earlier that I wrote a letter to BR asking them to transfer the FD $ to another bank account as I would be out of town on that day. They accepted the instruction , I signed all the required docs. But the transfer was not done when I checked days later! I have one important payment due. So I have to run around trying to get some money and deposit it into another account for the payment. Came back to Bintulu and asked BR why the transfer was not done. Answer was the officer called me to confirm the transfer. I was not aware of the call as I was busy at the airport. I called back later but no one answered. I had a chat with the manager this morning on this poor service. My signed letter and docs were useless. Maybe that was just the officer's point of view that she needed a confirmation via phone. So next time when you instruct a bank to do the transfer while you are out of town, ensure this is loop hole is covered, especially if this transfer is for important payments. Cheerio. |

Hi Guys,
Appreciate some help on this question. For joint FD or joint saving account with 2 names and with condition that either 1 can withdraw the money. However, if one of the account holder pass away unexpectedly, would the account be frozen until a court order is release, or can the other account holder still be able to withdraw or close the account after the other account holder passed away? Thanks. |

I have asked around and none can tell me the actual reason. Just wonder if 1 tries to take out the money, would this person be stopped by the bank or would the bank take legal action to get back the money if bank found out that the other account holder has passed away.May have to go to bank and ask the bank officer but worried different bank officer might give different answers. Wonder any one here has any experience in this kind of situation. |

I am no legal expert. But the person who passed away may have his/her asset distributed based on will or law.
