hi guys,

i just bought a pair of dumbbell to train my shoulder.

i would like to know bside shoulder, any other body part that can be worked out with dumbbell?

and i hav to work from 8-5pm, so what time is it best for me to work out? and before or after dinner? around how many hrs b4 or after dinner?

is there any reference or link to show how can i train myself at home using the pair of dumbbell?

thanks

note: im not sure whether "dumbbell" spell this way? coz dumbbell on the other hand is vulgar language!! just to let you guys and mod know that, i dont mean to be rude!!

of course when u talk about dumbell, there's many combo u can do to enhance:

1. biceps
2. tricep
3. chest
4. shoulder
5. wings - i dunno if they still call it "wings"

I don't go to gym, I play with my dumbells in home biggrin.gif .
Dumbell can train most of our body part.
The workout time is personal thing.
Mostly is the time when you are free and active.

Do your curls equally on both hands. e.g. 20 reps a set on each arm. finised a set then change arm.

Workout 4~5 hours before dinner to take advantage of insulin released. Plus keep your workout within 45 minutes.
Here's a great workout dictionary link http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html .

You better train your left hand back or people will think that you are Supermasturbater.

I would try to do it evenly on left and right body.

I do have 2x dumbbells too.
No gym in university.

U can try
bench press, deadlift, squat, hammer curl, lateral raise, front raise, triceps workout.....

almost every part of your body. smile.gif

Hey guys, where can I buy a pair of dumbell in Klang valley? Do they sell in nike shops or royal sporting house? How much does it cost roughly for a 5kg dumbell? Do they sell dumbell with fix weight (say 5kg) or they also sell dumbell with adjustable weights?

they're everywhere. except nike shops. there a lot of specialized gym equipment outlets at most shopping malls so i don't think it'll be a big problem for you to find it. most dumbbell weight sets come with a 2kg handle bar with 2 spinlocks, 2 1.5kg plates and 2 2.5kg plates. i bought my kettler 10kg dumbbell for rm50. that was around 2 years ago. always look for the thicker bars so you won't sink your own nails into your palm when you grip too hard.

go to a exercise shop and try out the dumbells there, find one that feels solid and fits your hand. most are pretty much the same, some have rubber grips on steel dumbells, some are somekind of plastic or cement(concrete or something) encased in plastic. see what you like and what fits your needs and ask for suggestions at the shop if you cant decide.

prices of steels/metal has increased quite a bit since a year ago. I think not a set of 10kg DB would cost > rm60

Yeah man. I thought of setting up a home gym, but now i'd rather join one. Equipment here's bloody expensive compard to the prices in the US. So many of my friends there have great home gyms, i really envy them.

You just train your right shoulder first and later train your left shoulder. That's all!
