just recvd my infinity. no time to fix it yet. quiet suprise by its weight....i thought it's heavy! smile.gif

Bro, appreciate if you could record Idle and Load temps using stock HSF, then using Infinity and update us ya, I also very interested in it...

Today I saw 1 biji Zalman CNPS9700 LED at LYP. Bigger than the 9500. Comes with "special" thermal grease (apply using brush). Sports AM2 mounting also. Should perform better than 9500 cos the entire HSF is larger. Price is RM250 (vs RM245 of the 9500).

Damn sweet, now I also not sure wanna throw away my Gigabyte G-Power and stick this one in my rig...

one question... is there any performance aircooling that have the same height (or less) as intel stock cooler besides blue orb??

thanks...

Coolermaster Hyper L3 is pretty low profile and silent... or the TT101?

as long as ur full load temperature at acceptable range, save the money and stick with the Gigabyte smile.gif

Heheh I agree also but you know ppl got the *itchy fingers* syndrome icon_question.gif

QUOTE(soulfly @ Oct 26 2006, 10:27 AM)
the most important thing is, it clearly replicates Zalman CNPS9500 design, and added a fan shroud
*
The shroud kind of prevents cooling to surrounding components esp. for passively cooled mobos. Nevertheless it looks cool and est price 35USD is pretty ok I guess

That is a great setup there bro, pretty pimp3d out! Nice wording on your ram heatspreaders...

ah.. its very hard to install TT blue orb into socket am2 as my mobo use the push-pin type instead of screws sweat.gif

Hows the temps from blue orb? Its pretty silent ya?

Why in the world do you want you're fan to run at that speed? sweat.gif

It's too slow, and when it's too slow, there's just a little number of CFM liao... sweat.gif
*
For me anything below 1200RPM really cannot hear the difference but can see i.e. temps rising. Low fan setting is strictly for low power rigs like HTPC where its light usage.

why so few ppl here use Gigabyte G-Power? i heard tht it's good from few members and reviews(beating cm hyper 6+,Vortex, xp-90 etc etc)....

any comments?
*
Agree with bassist there, GPower is NOISY. I can hear my rig from upstairs at night. Cooling power I suppose is petty decent for that price bracket ya...

Bassist:
Why don't you drop your clocks to stock, and take a temp reading? By the looks of it, it may just be that its hot due to o/c rather than anythig else. (since your temps no change if remove case cover).

@ sHawTY

Yo... previously my records were
J-Slade ~ Athlon64 3000+ @ 2GHz ~ Gigabyte G-Power BL ~ Idle 41°C, Load 49°C
I sold off my G-Power BL already  blush.gif

Now using Thermalright XP-90

J-Slade ~ Athlon64 3000+ (s754) @ 2.01GHz ~ Thermalright XP-90 + Nidec TA350D 92mm fan ~ Idle 40°C, Load 48°C

Not much difference huh? Anyway I sold off my G-Power cos I couldn't stand the bright blue LED ><

I guess for socket 754 Athlon processors, the heat problem cannot be ever solved (unless water cooling la  sweat.gif ) So I guess these are my optimum temperatures already... anyway.. do add me up to the list yea?
*
I also want to sell my G-Power its nosiy lah, but does good job at cooling my o/c rig... aiming for Zalman 9700 its huge man and should perform great...

which zalman you considering? almost all the new zalman cpu cooler cost 200++
i heard that zalman cpu cooler not that good. better do more comparision before buying. zalman 9700 is not cheap smile.gif
*
I myself have a Zalman 9500 and its doing a good job on my pentium d 830, so I kinda have confidence. But then its bloody trouble to remove mobo to fit the HSf. then again superfly has shown that for 170++ u can get a good hsf (TTBTVX),...

By right we should have a reference program at the start, but I don't think it matters which program you use, end of the day ppl tend to see LOAD minus IDLE to see the HSF performance.

So you might have:

Easytune:
Idle 28C, Load 40C, Diff = 12C

TAT:
Idle 40C, Load 52C, Diff = 12C

Shouldn't be too big a diff...

Anyways, in this survey one important item that was miss out from the start is your chipset temp, cos some coolers can cool the chipset as well as the cpu ...

Yerp. Looks pretty biased. The graphs shows the Ultra to outperform all but only get a 4/5 for overall ratings. Whereelse the ASUS, gets 5/5. Weird.
*
Max ITs reviews generally have Power Award and Editor's Pick. Usually highest performer gets the Power Award, but maybe based on weight, and features it was not given 5/5. That's my opinion on their reviewing style...

Trying to decide between my CoolerMaster Aero 7+ and the extra CoolerMaster X-Dream 3 that i both have in hand.

THe Aero 7 is very noisy at full speed(about 3600RPM) so i'm thinking of replacing it with the X-Dream3.

Problem is that i do oc'ing and performance wise, which would be better? THe X-Dream3 or Aero 7?

Btw, Aero 7 is a turbine like HSF whereas the X-Dream 3 is a traditional setup HSF.

X-Dream 3

EDIT: Changed to correct link for Aero 7+
*
Bro, since you have both on hand you should be running the tests at idle/load yourself, then you can decide which one better for you. Visually I'd go for the xdream3 cos bigger fan...

Prob is that i don't have the time to actually sit and wait to run the tests at idle/load. Even for my 7600GS oc'ing, i had to clock it up by 10-20MHz and slowly run the idle/load tests on games or apps over a week. Not a very good choice for me.

So why i'm asking here instead of doing it myself is because there might be a chance where someone has used the X-Dream 3 and can provide some inout.

Hehehe I know the feeling (and fun) but here all the ppl use big big hsfs one... But in any case if the casing airflow is good the diff may be small....

Yo I see ur spec its PD820 chip. Just to share my rig's temps

Pentium D 830 w/Stock HSF ( I took out the Zalman, reapplied some AS5)

Idle: 50C
Load: Hit 78C after 5 mins of Prime95, then 80C and I stop oredi

Exhaust fan is 120mm, intake fan is 120mm, side no fan but got grill...

Interested to see your temps, Kataro, so few Pentium D users around...

Pentium D 820 2.8GHz + Noctua NH-12F

My result before AS5 fully sink in:

Idle temp (emule, msn running): 47C
Load temp (emule, msn, Prime95 small FFTs) : 56C

Only 9C different between idle and load... drool.gif  NH-12F great... thumbup.gif

btw, the cpu usage at around 50%++ most of the time during Prime95 small FFTs test...only sometime suddently go higher to 70-80%++... hmm.gif
*
Bro, for dual core must run 2 copies of prime95 lah, one copy sure 50% usage for cpu ... make a copy of the prime95 folder and run both together ... i suppose you'd be on 60+ load but thats still ok icon_idea.gif

Stock HSF
Idle CPU: 49C
Idle Mobo: 43C

Load CPU: 79C and fail @ 5th minute cos I set reboot at 80C in MSI Core Temp

ZALMAN CNPS 9500 LED @ 2600RPM
Ilde CPU: 41C
Idle Mobo: 35C

Load CPU: 67C
Load Mobo: 41C

Using 2 copies of Prime95 for 30 mins.

Nowadays many styles of cooler, this one also interesting, providing some help to cool surrounding chipsets. The fan is 120mm some more, so its bigger than it looks. Probably performs decent, but makes for a very good display HSF...
