QUOTE(lactose_operon @ Jul 2 2006, 06:57 PM) dude..u didnt record any pwm temp in the 1st post You mean Mainboard temps? If so I agree also, we missed that one out cos same thing happen in another forum where all posted the idle/load and missed out mainboard temps which sort of like tells how hot the inside of the case is... but generally for malaysia is not really big diff lah, i mean its always 30C+ one... unless ur room full blast aircon and u run your rig in open air. Btw PWM is used to control the fan speed and by itself does not have temps right? QUOTE(shawty) 9) Doom ~ Intel 630 3.0 Ghz ~ Thermalright SI-120 ~ Idle 24°C, Load 30°C 24C idle damn cool man Doom is champion I wonder what environment it is... I ran a P4 2.8GHz@stock in our server room (24hr a/c, 20C) also the fella idle at 44C with stock HSF... This post has been edited by vey99: Jul 3 2006, 09:46 AM

QUOTE(lactose_operon @ Jul 3 2006, 08:03 PM) my PWM temp is 52 idle n 6x load... my mobo hv passive otes, which uses airflow from stok intel hs to cools it down, but since now im using ninja, theres no air blowing to it.... tinking of making an active otes with 40mm fan, modded with acrylic (gonna pow sum from the factory im working in...) Whoa fanless system... scary (like shawty mention earlier). If I could fit ninja into my case i oredi bought... and stick a 120mm fan at around 1000RPM will be just nice...

Can fry egg oredi man... like a few posts earlier, got use thermal paste properly or not? Either that or your HSF not seated properly on your CPU... dont let your processor fry ya...

I don't see much AM2 coolers around. I bought my cpu+mobo@PCZone, the dude say that can use Thermaltake Golden Orb (I have one spare) so I went home cannot fit for AM2 lah, darnit...
Any AM2 users with aftermarket HSF around? After I o/c my rig a bit it gets quite hot also I can feel the hot air under tthe table...

QUOTE(miraged @ Aug 4 2006, 09:10 AM) one question... those huge ghue heat sinks. i think it's hyper 6+.... so darn heavy.. . the other day i saw it in sri com.... how the heck can the mobo stand? i mean... when u attach it, the heat sink will be horizontal... won't that cause LOADS of stress to the mobo??? heavy ma!! Its probably safe since they can produce and sell it to ppl. Important thing is not to carry your PC around with big momma HSF attached. Most manufacturers also advise to remove big HSF when moving the PC around, esp lanparty ... DRO: Try to squeeze alittle more budget and get a decent HSF. If not you may end up unhappy with what you got. It happen to me also, kedekut go and buy small HSF then cannot cool the Pentium D during load, end up spend even more. End of the day I give free HSF upgrade to all my family member's PCs (but it was fun testing them out)

QUOTE(spacepilot @ Aug 4 2006, 11:13 AM) I suspected this also. Likewise I build my own PC and my stock Intel Heatsink base is made of copper(straight out of the Ori packing) ..whereas my friend's PC which she bought and build from a shop the Heatsink base is not copper and the stock fan spin nearly 4000rpm which makes alot of noise. But when u touch the heatsink, it is not that really hot and what i am suspecting is the processor could not transfer heat effiecient enough to the heatsink thus making the fan spin at full blast. I wonder if your's stock HSF is a copper base or full aluminium? You don't have to remove the heatsink to see, just remove the fan will do. Shawty was replying to my post on noisy fan. I have to dig out the HSF, I chucked it into store room oredi. I guess its suppose the stock should have copper base right? Never got around to investigate, anyway I love my Zalman 9500 I got to replace the stock hsf. Now I learnt my lesson oredi, everything buy and assemble at home. Cant trust the fxxxers...

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Aug 4 2006, 04:22 PM) Owh, now i get it... By the way, can i know which shop did you bought that processor? I bought my rig at Jayacom,Midvalley. It was an impulse buy... NOTE: I cannot confirm they tipu me cos I haven't check the HSF that I threw in the store room oredi. I don't wanna make false accusations. But I may edit this post once I go back today and check.

Today I upgrade HSF after searching high and low in LYP (exlude OCP, they open so late) I finally bought a Gigabyte G-Power (GH-PDU21-SC) from All IT. Most other shops no AM2 cooler for sale.
After adding this + some AS5 I see around 13% improvements and now testing to see how stable at 2.7GHz. Previousl load was 67~69C@2.7GHz, now is 59~60C@2.7GHz. I prolly won't go higher for normal use cos generally I set guideline at 60C max for CPU.
Shawty pls add me: vey99 ~ AMD 3500+ Orleans AM2 @ 2.7GHz ~ Gigabyte G-Power ~ Idle 40°C, Load 59°C

QUOTE(coolblade @ Aug 23 2006, 10:22 PM) wahh, I am eager to buy that Gigabyte G-Power cooler for my socket A cpu.. vey99, mind to tell me if there still some stock of this Gigabyte G-Power cooler? how much it priced? Maybe next month, I able to grab one. QUOTE(sHawTY @ Aug 23 2006, 10:31 PM) You can buy it anytime from "moderno"... It's cheaper than buying at lowyat plaza... I bought mine at Low Yat All IT. RM 139. At Moderno's, the model is the G-Power with variable fan speed, RM120. At All IT that model is RM 189. HOWEVER, the variable fan speed one does not have the "Support AM2" sticker compared to mine, so I didn't consider it. Also, I was tired of searching for other coolers so final stop at All IT I just buy it.

QUOTE(soulfly @ Aug 24 2006, 08:27 PM) what voltage are u at with the Orleans at 2.7GHz? because mine doing the same speed at 1.5V is around the same temperature as yours.... STOCK COOLER some more. and my room is not airconditioned. oic.. my voltage I set at bios is 1.425, when running my asusprobe shows 1.49 ~ 1.52V. Should I give it more voltage? I notice my rig not enuf exhaust power also, 80mm vantec fan @ 2000rpm. I think the case can take up to 92mm, not try yet cos no spare 92mm fan...

My ears are very sensitive, that day I bought 92mm Vantec to replace my 80mm exhaust fan, at 3000rpm also its too noisy until I cannot tahan (comp is in living room). Anyway its benefit was a 3C reduction in MB temps so it really helps.
You guys 100CFM and above sure sound like airplane one...

Yeah I found that my side panel fan wasn't helping the airflow in my casing. Took it out, no temps change in mobo and cpu... reduce the noise a little...

That Titan looks cool but result was a letdown on a single core p4. One thing about the review strikes me as very true:
"To my mind, the problem of such coolers is that the era of super-hot processors and, accordingly, of super-efficient coolers has come to an end."
In fact, I also started taking notice on HSFs / Cooling cos I bought the super-hot Pentium D 830. I paid so much (at that time) for a spanking new processor and ended up spending another couple hundred on cooling.
But no regrets cos I find that studying and testing fans and HSFs was a really fun experience for me (except for cutting myself on the thin HSF fins).

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Sep 17 2006, 09:22 PM) Is there any recommendation to blow into the CPU heatzink fan? I am using TT101 heatzink but with the Delta 12cm casing fan on it.The max roration for the fan is just around 1500rpm that is pretty low for me.Can someone suggest me a 12cm fan which can rotate at 2500-3000 rpm? Full copper HSF usually need good airflow to work well. In fact, what size is your exhaust fan for the casing? Posting a screenshot would be helpful. I think becos of your low RPM 120mm fan, you have lots of hot air circulating in the case. What's ur cpu + mobo temp at idle? What about load? You could also tell us what model is your CPU, Pentium 4 641? I would go for higher power fan at exhaust to take out the hot air, for HSF maybe 2000rpm fan would do, cos the 2500+ rpm fans sure noisy one...

QUOTE(J-Slade @ Oct 19 2006, 07:25 PM) I dont know which is better but I sure do know that blue orb is freakin' heavy... then the screws to mount is so small.... sure break off from the bracket sooner o later... Don't say blue orb, my golden orb screw mount also broke after *some* handling, crappy stuff. Dont forget blue orb is 120mm diameter, some casing wont fit (HSF block by PSU)
