hi... need some advise from you sifus here. biggrin.gif
My pentium 4 2.4GHz socket 478 on stock hsf is running real hot recently, about 55 degrees idle  shocking.gif
So I'm planning to change to a 3rd party hsf. I'm interested in the Thermalright HR-01 or the Noctua NH-U12 or something similar in design which have the fan blowing to the back of the case and also not so bulky in size like the Scythe Ninja. If I'm not mistaken, Thermalright is not available here and it's not in the 1st few pages in the bulk order and the Noctua seems to be kinda expensive. Any sugestion?  icon_question.gif  Btw, my budget is less than RM200. More than that is a no-no since I'm still a student.  tongue.gif
My mobo is the Asus P4P800S-X

Noctua NH-U12 thumbup.gif
It's good...
I mean very very good... thumbup.gif

When will the Ultra 120 Extreme available? shawty u know? since you sell TR stuff tongue.gif

Really want it drool.gif
*
Why everyone is waiting for Ultra 120 Extreme? shakehead.gif

I think it's better if you guys wait for teh 1337 IFX-14.
It looks better, you can fit two 140mm fan on it, got two heatpipes on the backplate.

And more plus specification on the IFX-14.

I'll go for IFX-14 if i were you.
No use waiting for the Ultra 120 Extreme. dry.gif

QUOTE(Doom @ Mar 19 2007, 03:34 PM)
isnt it become dangerous as the cooler become more and more heavy ..

wouldn't it bent the mobo... i already notice that Ultra-120 is to heavy and even the  bolt through kit unable to hold it firmly ... it tend to to bent a bi down ...
*
Lol. laugh.gif
Those thermalright engineers sure know what they are doing.

These heatsinks is sure heavy, but they've made a good choice by using the bolt through kit to hold the heatsink firm on the motherboard.

They've made a very good effort on designing their heatsink to be the lightest possible.

But still, don't forget about they know what they are doing.

Those new heatsink is considered light if you compare to the older CoolerMaster Hyper 6 that is fully copper. shakehead.gif

That heatsink is freaking heavy. shakehead.gif

Me too!
That backplate has a superlong heatpipe.

Been wondering how in the world are we going to fit that on the backside of the motherboard, and how the length will spread out.

I bet not many casing can support that. sweat.gif

Albeit, i think the Ultra 120 Extreme is just a waste, better get IFX-14 rather than teh Ultra 120 Extreme liao. laugh.gif

dont know la... at first wanted to buy it to test one but now see the price also speechless liau. probably not going for it unless the performance really very impressive like getting lower 3 - 4'C than my Noctua.
*
Agreed.
RM305 is a lil' too much for me too. sad.gif

maybe too expensive, so nobody buy to test, so no review yet...and maybe TR have not give to anybody to review yet... just my guess only... tongue.gif
*
Normally Thermalright will give a unit for those reviewers to test those new models before start selling new models.

Weird that this time Thermalright didn't give a review unit to any reviewer for a test. sweat.gif

Dude, look properly, that ain't normal intel stock heatsink. laugh.gif

That heatsink is 120MM in width.
Intel stock heatsink is only 80MM in width. thumbup.gif

look like intel heatsink the diff are it was huge as 12cm fan can fit on it n it bengkok like telescope  tongue.gif
*
But then, the Volar design sure looks much much better than the crappy Intel stock heatsink. laugh.gif

Weird though, even for Core2Quad QX6700, intel still use the same old Intel Stock Heatsink design, only that they've replaced the Black round fan with a "Gay" blue round fan which the maximum speed is higher than the black round fan. doh.gif

Can't they change the stock heatsink to a better design? sweat.gif

And no, i've never seen anyone using it either.

Looking at the design, don't blame me when i say it's weak. laugh.gif

Just my opinion though. icon_rolleyes.gif

hmm.gif it just similiar to the look of AC Freezer 64Pro i think.... hmm.gif
by the way bro do Freezer 64Pro fit in my biostar 6100 am2 mobo....??heard a lot of ppl complain many 3rd party hsf doesn't really fit am2 mobo??...any recomend 4 me??? notworthy.gif
*
It only looks 70% similar to ACF 64Pro.
But, look carefully, then you'll know what's the weakness of the buffalo. wink.gif

The buffalo is only using 4 heatpipes. doh.gif
While the ACF 64Pro is using 6 heatpipes. thumbup.gif

Many 3rd party doesn't really fit AM2 mobo, but not for ACF 64Pro. ACF 64Pro is made to support many types of mobo without facing any difficulties in using it on any AM2 motheboard. wink.gif

*
Well, for RM200, i suggest you to get Noctua NH-U12F from irangan's bulk order. thumbup.gif

good then, now my pentium-D is running on stock, idle temp also can reach 48,got once full load i think it reaches 58  sweat.gif  will the new hsf help a lot? and compare with ninja Scythe, which is better?"
*
Yes.
It will help reduce the temp a lot.

If not, why would those 3rd party heatsink manufacturer even bother to create such heatsinks? laugh.gif

Scythe Ninja?
That's one old old 3rd party heatsink ler, it's technology is also old.

Noctua NH-12F performs much much better than the ninja. wink.gif

So basically, I'm paying an extra of RM20+ for the speed controller since I'm using lga775. What if I change the fan? Fan controller = useless? Nuu?
*
IINM, the fan that is attached on the VX is faster than the normal bigthyphoon fan.
That's why it comes with a fan speed controller.

Ask the users who's using VX lor.

**PS.
IINM, Normal bigthyphoon is not in the market anymore ler.
Only Bigthypoon VX are in the market.
