Contacted my Peugeot dealer n told him. He didn't understand the absence of the glove box air con vent valve.
He said his unit in showroom did not have the valve too. Need to convince him that its supposed to be there but its missing.
Other than that things are great with the 208. Testing fuel consumption now.

Car jerk when slowing down doesn't really bother me. Personally I feel its acceptable.
When switched to Sports mode I do feel the response from the acceleration is better. But what actually changed when Sports mode is switched on? Can someone enlighten me? Does the 0-100 time improve?

According to the manual, Sports mode will make the car shift gear at higher RPM.
Dunno about 0-100 time, because its hard for us to measure on ordinary road.
*
Thanks for the confirmation and yea, I eventually read it in the manual as well as some online Peugeot foreign site. I believe there are other variation of the 208 engines abroad as well. If not mistaken there is a 150bhp variant.

I just drive manual auto mode if I want the pickup. Maybe I will try the best 0-100 I can achieve.

hi, all 208 sifu~~

may i know is it possible to upgrade touch screen to navigation mode?
*
Last I checked with my Peugeot sales rep, he told me the GTI has the upgrade for the Navi and we 2 door and 4 door owners will have to wait til later in the year to get the update/upgrade.

From what I see on foreign sites, (correct me if I'm wrong), you can install new themes as well as navigation upgrades/updates via a special Peugeot USB which you plug into the USB port. Not sure the codes/script that needs to be in it for it to auto run though.

For now just hoping the upgrade comes sooner than later for the Navigation sweat.gif

I get my 208 about a week. They ride is fun. fc is high at 7.5km/l. Engine is hot that I can feel it when I passby and the fan is "always" at full speed which create loud sound when I open Aircon.

I think fc will be better after 1st service at 2500km according to sales advisor. My concern is the fan sound. Can I upgrade to full synthetic engine oil? Would it help to reduce engine heat as the sound is quite annoying. I accept if it only happen sometime but not all the time. Today I pick up my sis at her school, I turn off my Aircon because the constant noise make everyone look at me.

According the the sales advisor, the fan have low, medium and high spend. It will automatic turn to high speed when we turn on Aircon. Does anyone experience the same too?
*
I notice the fan speeds changes. Not always on HIGH when AirCon is on. The fan speed does drop after a while. Then again mine will be on high most of the time cos I do tend to push the engine a bit these days.

I've been trying to drive the Manual mode these days just to test the engine. Even though the transition from gear to gear is not as seamless as an actual manual, you do get to control the gears, like higher revs on low gears or 4th gear but driving slowly. laugh.gif

3 things I'm waiting for:

1) News on the upgrade of the 7" LCD display to have a GPS Update/upgrade.

2) News on body part additions like skirting and spoilers (Unless 3rd party)

3) Any news on software update for the LCD Panel (Themes etc.) ....

Anyone with answers to above please enlighten me thumbup.gif

QUOTE(peter_pj @ Jun 6 2014, 03:32 PM)
Hi all,
Just a warning to all of you who are thinking of getting a 208 GTi spec (and maybe all Peugeot niche models like the RCZ):-

I had ordered a red GTi in late April and completed all necessary documentation and loan. In mid-May, I requested for change of colour to white and clearly asked that unit must be new unit and no display or demo stock. In late May, I was informed that a white GTi had been allocated. I was provided with a chassis number together with details on balance payments I need to make.

That same week in May when my unit was confirmed, there was also a roadshow by Peugeot held in 1 Utama. Many models were displayed there including my white GTi. How I know this? Because I checked the chassis number that was allocated to me to the unit on display (door panel) and it matched! I took photo evidence of this and made a complaint to the dealer because I specifically said I don't want display or demo units. The worst part was that all the interior door panels were scratched from peoples shoes and can see little kids pulling and pushing everything including the moon roof cover.

After a week of ding-dong, Nasim came back to say that they only willing to give a RM2,000 discount on the display unit allocated and polish the scratched panels (not even replace). No apologies given at all besides saying if want a new unit, wait another 4 months.

I'm so disappointed with the manner in which Nasim handle their sales, especially for their premium and niche units that I immediatly cancelled the order. The worst part was that although they refunded my deposit, they "makan" for number plate and runner fees to purchase the number plate (which I cannot even use because of their bluffing and cheating ways).

So a warning for everyone getting GTi or even RCZ units, better beware your car would have been molested by thousands of people in roadshows prior to delivery and complete lack of professionalism on Nasim's part.
*
Sorry to hear that bro. I had a hunch feeling about mine too initially.

Whn I got my car, it came with no mats etc all bundled still I'm its packaging, seats all covered in plastic and basically everything else clean. Odometer registered 30km but Nasim salesman told me its because of roadtest so I thought makes sense. But exterior or car unferunately d roof, under light reveals hair thin scratches which made me question if mine is a display unit whig was wiped over and over again? I told salesman u better not be selling me a display unit. He reassured etc that its not.

In hindsight as well I really needed a ride fast hence if time permitted I would probably do checks like you did. Only qc flaw I found out was the missing glove compartment air con valve which upon contacting my salesman, he nicked one for me from his display unit. Vicious cycle if that display was sold to someone else. Other than that no issue with the car and wrote to Peugeot to bring in Peugeot Apps and GPS for the 208 to which they called me and told me to stay tuned for updates and that if any available, they will contact all owners.

not really..which dealer u went to?
*
Nasim Old Klang Road. When I went to see mine, it looked like the roof had stains from d rain. Salesman said that.due to transport from assembly plant up North. I asked him if he giving me showroom or demo unit he said no. But I felt that there were hairline scratches around the roof if you see carefully. Might be me being anal.though. he said 30km mileage cos of test drive engine at the plant.

Btw did my first inspection today. Apparently I have a part recalled which would need to be replaced, at no cost. Ball bearing for suspension or something like that.

Hi 208 owners. Here's one thing I need you guys to confirm on.

Whenever I leave my car overnight and turn on the engine the next day, I feel my engine is noisier than usual and upon pressing the accelerator, I hear like additional noise that I would expect out of a diesel car. Do you guys experience this?

I have enquired with the Peugeot SC but I'm not too happy with their explanation. They tell me that due to the car being idle for a long time, the engine oil level had decreased and due to the oil not fully covereing the engine parts, the noise is more.

Hope you 208 owners can advise... smile.gif as I initially wanted to lodge a complaint.

some cars (engine) react badly to cold starts.

My only concern is that when you start in the early morning and you press the accelerator, even if lightly, you will hear like something is loose in the exhaust. Then after you drive for 1 minute the sound goes away. doh.gif

Apparently this is said to be normal...sigh.. wonder if other contis or Peugeot family experience this.. ?
*
Peugeot technician spoke to me as I questioned why a car company would.build a engine that would be like this? He says it affects other Peugeot models like 408,2008 etc. Sigh... Even though its there only for a short while you kinda question the engine a bit. No other explanation provided save just explaning that apparently engine.oil levels drop thus producing the noise after being.off overnight

I was driving yesterday then suddenly I got the "Temperature Gauge Error ". I looked at the gauge and it went to the MAX redline. Immediately stopped at side of the road and turn off engine. Engine went off but fan still ran a good 2 mins then I turned back on again. Back to normal.

Anyone experienced this?
