Sorry for necro your previous comment but may I know why MSI service is worse than Dell or Illegear?

I think looking for a 17 inch hopefully with 870M to replace my old G73JH. I'll be bringing it for oversea travel so Illegear is kinda out of the question, sadly.
*
The reason is no warranty extension package, somemore if anything happen to main hardware parts, it needs to be sent back to Taiwan manufacturer. So, shipping already cost you at least 2 weeks and up to months.

if you travel oversea, are you going to stay months or years? Or just few days? Bcs if you stay longer, I suggest you better buy oversea or choose the one with global warranty support.

FYI, MSI laptops come with 1st year global warranty service but not cover labor cost. I know that through a forumer in China went to Singapore to repair/replace hardware. Hardware parts is foc but installation (labor cost) need to be paid. Not sure DELL and Illgear how to handle this situation.

I might be traveling for months, having a decent warranty support from the start is good.

Still how is MSI laptop's reliability? Are there any major issues, like malfunctioning firmware? Is it easy to maintain the laptop like the heatsinks easily accessible for cleaning?
*
So far so good for my GT70, just need to be careful with USB 3.0 issue.

BIOS and Firmware are working well.

You can easily open backcover for maintainance purpose, but it will void warranty.

Still, if you play high demand 3D games like Watchdog, Titanfall, Crysis 3 etc. I suggest you choose dual fans gaming laptop, if you dont want to hear 58dB of cooler boost function of GT70.

Your customer in Sydney is quite lucky, maybe subjected to Australia local policy also.

Just bought a GS60 Ghost Pro at JB PC fair. how is the performance wise compare to my current Asus G75VW that I bought 2 years ago? Main reason i bought this is because of the weight and size as my G75VW is just too huge sad.gif
*
I just back from Persada PC Fair, quite surprise to see that MSI finally has a booth in Johor.

For performance, GS60 definitely has better performance than G75VW due to GPU upgrade and gap, but not the cooling. But you are moving down from 17" to 15.6", can you adapt to it?

yup. the laptop originally comes with a back pack and a gaming mouse.
Their free gift is either gaming mouse, gaming keyboard, gaming headset or 500gb hdd.
I opt for cash instead since I prefer to use speaker instead of headset.
*
I see, some lowyat sellers will instead bundle with some games like Diablo 3 ROS, Titanfall etc which I think is quite okay for some buyers. But I prefer price discount to freegifts. By the way, why not you choose GS70 or Razer Blade series or Gigabyte series?

i want more portability. been tired of carrying the G75 around for sometime. and the specs on this machine quite nice. light and easy to carry as well.
tried playing dota 2 earlier. smooth. but I notice my game is lagging (connection side). last time on G75 connection is perfect on my Yes 4G. hopefully is just today's network cacat.
but Yes network is stable all the while though. just don't know why this machine lag. mayb some original software running some DL at back end?
*
Using YES wifi? Try to update intel Wlan driver. Oh ya, please remember to register warranty and detail at MSI website, just follow the instruction.

New GE60-2pe report in!
Got it from Ipoh redcom @ SRP rm4199 free office home student 2013 and a mouse.
Is it good deal?

Wanted to know where are the sub woofer locate at?
The bass is weak compare to my xps 1640.
Kind of disappointed
*
For me, even Office Pro Plus 2010/2013 you can get genuine free via internet, overall it is not a bad deal. Not sure what mouse it is free to you, I think it is MSI mouse. If possible, free genuine games is better.

For the bass, you need to tune it through Sound Blaster Cinema

Hi shin thanks for the feedback, I'd tune the bass to Max but still the bass is not noticeable. Is there any problem with the speakers? The sound is loud but just the bass weak.

Btw, mind to share where can get office pro genuine for free? Thanks in advance.
*
Not sure the size of subwoofer, should be either 2.5W or less. But I dont think GE60 has subwoofer even some websites state that it has.

Just google you can find a lot office genuine key, someone always be so generous to share the volume key.

Hi All,

Just to share some info for MSI GT70 2PC & Razer Tiamat 7.1 Headphone, I got headache yesterday to get this work with this razer 7.1 headphone. The Bass was dead whenever i enabled the 7.1 speaker. I googled around to enable the Bass Management but where the heck is this function, its missing at realtek control panel. Finally I removed the sound blaster cinema and installed the realtek ALC892 driver (not from MSI) only then I saw that sound effects tab and bass management.

From my point of view, its better not to use soundblaster cinema software, the bass is disabled in 7.1 speaker. Even in stereo mode including built-in subwoofer, the bass is really weak.
Now, surprisingly, without sound blaster cinema, I can hear the built-in sub woofer which was not noticeable before, very strange...  hmm.gif
*
There is software for Razer headset called "Razer surround" something like that. Have you tried before?

Can I uninstall my Sound Blaster Cinema 2 and then install dolby v4 into my msi gs60? Cause Im not satisfied of its fine-tuned for my earphone.
*
Yes, you can. Dolby v4, unless you able to find the crack one + modded realtek driver.

Hey guys! A MSI GT70 2PC Dominator user reporting in!

Just want to ask, anyone experiencing lousy internet connection and frequent connection drop while using the wifi?

I have on board a killer e2200 wireless adapter, and thus far i've tried everything from downloading the new drivers from atheros and msi website.

It seems to me that it has something to do with the killer network manager and/or the network driver. I can't seem to figure out which is the root cause. What i've done so far is uninstall all the killer network manager software and services. I only installed a bare driver which is currently running the "killer wireless-n 1202 network adapter".

Any ideas/clues? Its been a few weeks now and i cant seem to find a solution. Thanks!
*
I faced that internet connection dropping issue quite frequently, especially when disconnect and reconnect, sometimes I need to restart laptop/modem. You can see the connection but cannot connect. I think the problem may come from modem itself and your antivirus. Try disabling/turning off antivirus whenever you facing connection issue.

And can try to disable the killer network manager, not much use I can tell, the Win 8 version is better than the Win8.1 version.

Thanks for the reply bro!

Ya, i've tried everything and anything that smells like a solution ive found on the net. It could be the modem because i called Unifi a few weeks back to ask regarding the internet connection but they said it's fine on their side. I'll probably look into changing the modems, but when i use other laptops in my house there is no drop or slow internet speed. Just the msi laptop that im using.

I did had Norton 360 on, which ive since uninstalled, the problem still persisted. I've also disabled as well as deleted the killer network manager to no avail as the problem is still there. I have to add that since ive deleted the KNM a few days back and ONLY using the bare drivers, there are slight improvements, but the connection still drops but less frequently.

Just thought id share some suggestions just incase other users are experiencing this problem.

It's such a shame, the GT70 2PC is a beast of a laptop but riddled with alot of bugs and shits. Win 8.1 sucks.
*
Try to boot in safe mode with networking to see problem persisted or not, if nothing happen during safe mode that means it may be program issue. And Win 8.1 and Killer have issue with internet connection. Also, look into device manager of N1202, if not mistaken, there is option saying that "enable turn off to save power" something like that.

hi guys, would love to hear your opinion and advice here.

got myself a gt70 few months back..only last 3 weeks i connect the laptop to my avr onkyo 608 receiver to get better sounding through hdmi when playing games and watching movies.

the problem that i got is the fan will go to overdrive mode whenever hdmi is connected. the fan will revert back to normal once the graphic is switched to the onboard intel graphic. as i checked, the are no part on the laptop was overheating..it is just the fan kicking to overdrive mode...any of u guys got this issue? anyway to remedy?

i tried reinstalling both onboard and nvidia drivers, still the issue remain..hope anybody can advice..thanks icon_question.gif
*
do you use MSI dragon gaming center to check fan speed first?

Not sure ur overdrive mode = cooler boost? Fan speed under cooler boost is at least 4700 rpm, normal mode is only 2000 rpm.

I dont have any FHD TV or gadgets to test, cant help you there.

From your description, it sounds like Cooler Boost automatically kicks in whenever you use HDMI connection, have you tried with other devices?

hello all sifus,

may I ask which screen is better?matte?glossy? (full hd)

will matte screen cause colour vibrant down or blur screen?
*
Chimei screen of MSI is usually anti-glare type with not-so-obvious particles distributed around the screen. And the colour is slightly to yellow if you look at white background. But mostly 17 inch MSI laptops are of Chimei. Unless you do calibration.

15.6 inch has quite a lot of choices such as LG TN, Samsung TN/PLS and Panasonic IPS. But price is around RM5k and above for IPS screen.

Go to Intel/Qualcomn to download the latest driver. I am not sure which Wlan card GS70 uses, but it is either intel or qualcomn.
