Hotspot (previously, The Nexus Shop) in LowYat. Opened. Many local sets available. Same owner as MacStudio, Sony and Samsung shop in lowyat. Currently, only 1-year local warranty. But the Boss said he is negotatiating 1+1 for his customers and will notify when available. Price is RM999 for 16GB. When I was there at 2PM, still got a lot of stock. Another batch of 500 units coming in soon. According to the Boss.
They have many demo sets of Nexus 7 hooked up with headphones. Can play. Even the Nexus Q is available on display.
Unit G17, Ground Floor. Just a few doors down from Samsung / HP.

Bloody hell, man... for the "price complainers"... please share with us which RM1k and below Android tablet out here in Malaysia has a quad-core 4+1 CPU, a 12‐core GeForce GPU, a 1280x800 resolution HD IPS display, Corning glass, running Jellybean, first to get updates, 8 hours of HD video playback, 10 hours of web browsing, and 10 hours of e-reading, about a total of 9.5 hours battery life, 10.5 mm thin and 340gm in weight, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth v.3, WiFi b/g/n, NFC, 2 mics, 2 speakers, GPS, and a very portable 7" screen?
Show me one tablet that beats ALL that at RM1k or less currently available in Malaysia now, and I'll buy one for myself and another one for the first guy/gal who shares. Oh, you want US prices? Move there. A lot of other things also cheaper there what.
If none of the complainers here can share anything as above, then stop b****ing, think about how unrealistic your complaint is and forever hold your peace.

(Only) In US can you buy the n7 at 8GB USD199 (~RM610) & 16GB USD (~RM760) because only in US can you get full google play store content like movies, music, books, magazines, etc where google sells the content for profit.
In UK where google play is limited, the price of the N7 is higher.
8gb = GBP159 ~ RM791
16gb = GBP199 ~ RM990
So, 16gb selling here in malaysia for RM999 is as good as price as it gets ever.

Do you ever read those posts before replying wall of text ?
1)All of us think the leaser the price the better , but its reasonable to have Rm999 .
2) Those ppl do have the option to buy imported set at less than RM900 .
3) They are whining unreasonably when there is such option .
4) They didnt even considering the 1+1 warranty
(about ipad being cheaper than US)
5) Apple use their iphone sales to balance it back . If you don know , malaysian ipad price is the cheapest around and its iphone price is on the high side .
p/s : try to make ur post short and clear as this isnt english article writing competition . Just like mine .
too long never read .

I think people have misunderstood the situation here. It's not that we don't want the product at a cheaper price, EVERYONE wants cheaper products.
The fact of the matter is that US got Nexus 7 at a cheaper price because 1) Google wants to dominate the 7" market there 2) Google is aiming to make profits from app sales.
Most of the world will receive the Nexus 7 at around RM900+ because ASUS, unlike Google, is a manufacturer which need to make profit on the products they sell. In fact, if you compare the profit margins of the Nexus 7 with other ASUS tablets, the margin is a lot less for this.
The fact that the US get products at a cheaper price is nothing new, the Brits have been complaining for years that due to the high value of the pound sterling they're always paying more for gadgets (eg. PS3 at release).
Conclusion is this: We don't like the price either but we accept that profits need to be made and instead see RM999 as a fair reflection of the value of the product (compared to other tablets).
Edit: grammar.

just wana add a point here, nvidia and asus originally announced the memo 370t at the beginning of the year with the price tag of $249, google is the one that came in and lower the price to $199. IMO, I think google subsidize asus to lower the price of the tablet so they can increase their share in the tablet market. Google planned to make up for their loss by earning from the sales of apps, music, games, movies, ebooks and advertising. And we can't compare it with apple products cause the seller cannot overprice an overpriced product. In the end is up to ur opinion to decide which to buy. If you gt lots of money and want premium products, go for prime or apple. u like external storage tab 2 7.0. u like quad core, butter and google support, nexus 7. Low budget, china brand such as ainol.
what you should do if not satisfied.

ranting here about the price, or threatening to buy ipad, wait for ipad mini, kindle fire or samsung tab is pointless.
