it astonishing to know that my intake air temperature is significantly higher than the ambient. as per OBD reading this morning, after half an hour city drive, mostly idling at traffic light or behind others, the end intake temperature before I park was at 48 C. Ambient I believe shall not more than 28, due to rain this morning.

It's normal. Especially during traffic jam. If smooth cruising the ambient and intake temperature is more similiar.

That's cold. Intake temperature can usually hover around 60+.

If got turbo, it can reach >90.

good to know that it is normal. by the way, any mod to cool the intake temp, something like insulation on the intake or something.

by the way, i can halfly confirm that fuel flow rate cc/min in the OBD reading reflects fuel used/sprayed in the all 4 combustion chambers. The reading is tally with the fuel used reading from OBD. After half an hour driving, petrol used is 1.40952381 liter and by taking the average of fuel flow rate times with the time, the liter consumed is 1.3987011.

Currently looking at the fuel flow while stopping at traffic light. it seems that the flow is less when switch to N instead of staying at D. I know, I've brought this up last time. Last time not very effortful, this time will do the data collecting as the price of petrol is now 20 sen more expensive flex.gif

if u notice the vaccum, u will notice that if u lower the value (means higher number) the cc/min will reduce so if wan below 60cc/min u neeed to maintain 15 or higher for normal flat road...

for N mostly cc/min will ard 21-25, a/c kick in will go into 30+/-
for D it will stay ard 31-35 cc/min, a/c kick in will go into 37-38+/-

IINM ph34r.gif

for ur info OBD trip metre is slight faster thn our dash meter.

preliminary results:

assumed idling 30 minutes daily, you can save 1.954612994 liter of petrol, which translate to RM 4.10.

any wear and tear as side effects? clutch maybe?

compared between idling at N and idling at D, you can save RM4.10 MONTHLY if you idle at N.
