QUOTE(davidke20 @ Aug 29 2013, 07:22 AM) How to read that wor it is specific fuel consumption. for a given torque, you can get specific fuel consumption. just want to compare with other engine on paper. I wonder how other engines got such thing. Need to do self testing?Unker David, will be back in Pasir Gudang on 3rd August. Can send directly to my address. sorry to bother you |

QUOTE(jaylim94 @ Sep 5 2013, 09:47 PM) Guess i'm right to introduce this car to my gals. EPS on City is better than EPS on CRV. the one in CRV keeps giving me some kind of unnatural feedback when doing small correction on straight road. or are both using same EPS? The EPS part for people who use to hydroPS, the feeling was like Talk about speed, you can actually find out City is more powerful than vios. 120kmh rpm is 2.5k. Cabin noise is good enough, driving around 110kmh you will get the feeling like 80kmh. After i drive City, why consider vios? |

it astonishing to know that my intake air temperature is significantly higher than the ambient. as per OBD reading this morning, after half an hour city drive, mostly idling at traffic light or behind others, the end intake temperature before I park was at 48 C. Ambient I believe shall not more than 28, due to rain this morning.

QUOTE(dares @ Sep 6 2013, 11:44 AM) It's normal. Especially during traffic jam. If smooth cruising the ambient and intake temperature is more similiar. QUOTE(r3apers @ Sep 6 2013, 11:46 AM) it probably with happend good to know that it is normal. by the way, any mod to cool the intake temp, something like insulation on the intake or something.its u, i remember wan... its normal.. higher temp with everything stock highest is around 60-65 only.. due to our engine bay is quite hot... with open pod lagi worst... by the way, i can halfly confirm that fuel flow rate cc/min in the OBD reading reflects fuel used/sprayed in the all 4 combustion chambers. The reading is tally with the fuel used reading from OBD. After half an hour driving, petrol used is 1.40952381 liter and by taking the average of fuel flow rate times with the time, the liter consumed is 1.3987011. Currently looking at the fuel flow while stopping at traffic light. it seems that the flow is less when switch to N instead of staying at D. I know, I've brought this up last time. Last time not very effortful, this time will do the data collecting as the price of petrol is now 20 sen more expensive |

preliminary results:
assumed idling 30 minutes daily, you can save 1.954612994 liter of petrol, which translate to RM 4.10. any wear and tear as side effects? clutch maybe? |

QUOTE(TitanRev @ Sep 6 2013, 01:28 PM) Actually I have something in my head for this too. I'm also thinking to lower the intake air....a few ways to do it... neat idea also. it will not consume more space on cramped engine bay. btw, where is the temperature probe located?1. Paint or coat all the intake parts. (air box, hose, inlet hose, intake pipe) with silver chrome paint or coat them in ceramic paint. Silver paint reflects heat Ceramic coating keeps the heat from soaking into the black plastic. 2. Can try also go Giant or Tesco buy those Aluminium foil and wrap all the intake with it. Warp about 3 layers. You can also do it on your wiring and AC hose also....keeps the heat out. 3. More advance. Take out the whole intake plenum then paint it with ceramic paint or silver reflective paint.... |

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Sep 6 2013, 02:39 PM) not necessary.... just stick until the part it connects to the throttle body can already. Places to emphasize on is the hose nearest to the engine extractor. you mean the hose before the airbox?thinking of this, it is better to put the heat wrap/shield at the heat source, in this case, extractor. |

QUOTE(TitanRev @ Sep 6 2013, 04:43 PM) Wrapping the extractor is 1 of the way but the problem with wrapping is that overtime the extractor will crack due to the wrapping when got water it get soak and the sudden change in temperature cause the crack. After you wrap up the extractor very hard to find exhaust leakage also because cannot see..... the one that guy is selling not using fibre, so no soaking required. if no soaking required, then risk of water soak has been eliminated right?Pros. safer working around extractor with wrap and the sound of the extractor gets toned down also....personal experience.... I think this wrap will causes unstoppable itchiness if wrap without wearing gloves..best is to wash the wrap 1st then leave it overnight and do wet wrapping also from my personal experience of using such wrap... Best is still to do ceramic coating....http://www.cerakotehightemp.com/finishes/C-138Q/ |

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Sep 6 2013, 05:05 PM) Eh, no itch and no crack will occur... Coz the product in talk is titanium exhaust wrap. Looks nicer, easier to handle than fiber wrap. Since its is also metal, it has more or less the same contraction/expansion rate wit the extractor so no baking and cracking. made from pumice. lava stone i belive. so not metal. |
