haha now I know why sometimes even the lobby server crashes cause people keep spamming it with login attempt
I did that few days ago and after doing that the problem became worst I can't even load the character list I freaked out thinking that spamming the login might have made SE ban my account or IP or sumthin |

QUOTE(descendant @ Sep 2 2013, 10:23 PM) btw I'm curious about why the original FF XIV game was a failure yes the v1.0 was really bad.. lolI have never played it because my previous laptop was not in a condition to play game and I don't like playing online game on my console so what's the difference between this new FFXIV and the original one? the first FFXIV must be very bad that SE didn't expect this new one would have such a tremendous support |

QUOTE(descendant @ Sep 2 2013, 10:23 PM) btw I'm curious about why the original FF XIV game was a failure The failure was due to (well, i'm not entirely correct on details, but it's not far from wrong):I have never played it because my previous laptop was not in a condition to play game and I don't like playing online game on my console so what's the difference between this new FFXIV and the original one? the first FFXIV must be very bad that SE didn't expect this new one would have such a tremendous support - the server design was very poor - everything was server based: NPC merchant, inventory, skill list etc. e.g talking to a npc to buy/sell stuff (delay 5s), getting to the menu then choosing options (delay 5s), then choosing your items to sell (delay). it's the same for viewing your own equipments or skill menu - The graphics were really really pretty, even prettier than ARR now, but the world is very ... empty and bland, same tree, same rock, same roads, same outpost, same this, same that. - the whole game is very taxing on your pc performance. - there's not very much story, no end game, no purpose - confusing mechanics as in 1 class can mix match many skills/spells - basically exp through doing leves, there's an allowance on how many you can do, then wait 12hrs for refresh, adding to that, a fatique system where u reach the max exp you can get for the day, need time to reset to gain exp again something like that. - the whole UI of the game sucks. - the real problem is, you create ur character, you watch the intro movie, then you're dump into a world, with no guide, no quest guide, and literally you're like stranded in an island and need to learn ur survival ability. The maps were HUGE, you don't really know what to do lol - almost forgot about the markets. you would expect 2010 mmo to have an auction house so you can search/buy/sell item with ease. but the dev team at that time decided to go the old fashion way of hiring npc(retainers) who you can place your items in them and sell. it's not a problem but when everyone does that in a cramp dedicated market area, it's chaos searching items u want to buy or sell. don't forget the high delay when interacting with npcs. After the failure launch and negative response, the team leader was removed, replaced by naoki yoshida. then the whole game was being fixed slowly. During that time, dev team felt that they need to trash the game and re-design the whole server structure, in which they decided to make 1.0 have a story that the world was "destroyed", then ARR is reborn. The only thing i miss is the graphics, I do feel that 1.0 had really pretty and smooth graphics, where ARR have abit of jagged polygon, maybe it'll be perfect when they introduce the pc version with directx 11 This post has been edited by poipoy: Sep 2 2013, 11:23 PM |

QUOTE(ZeratoS @ Sep 2 2013, 07:30 PM) AF+1 is the best of the best. Only Allagan is on par with it and you get that in Bahamut Coil. So far only 1 guild in the world has entered Bahamut's Coil. Nice guideYour gear progression should be: AF -> Amdapor for Grand Company Level 50 weapon unlock + Amdapor gear max melded -> Ifrit HM + Darklight gear (buy with philosohpy tomes after you get enough for your Relic weapon) -> Garuda HM -> Titan HM -> Finish Relic Weapon -> Allagan gear (bahamut) + Relic+1 (3 weeks of Amdapor) -> save mythology tomes for each of your af+1 parts. If Amdapor is too hard for you, do Wanderer's Palace to get ilvl55 gear. Amdapor is ilvl60. Darklight is ilvl70. Allagan and AF+1 is ilvl90. If you minmax your amdapor gear, it should last you through to Garuda and possibly Titan HM. You should be getting your darklight gear by Titan so keep running amdapor each week till you cap mythology tomes (300, 40/run) and then do praetorium if you have enough ppl. |

The way the thread almost becoming to a rage/rant thread is so amusing I'd suggest to shoji to change the thread name haha anyways, due to my 2 weeks course, I'm spared from the wrath of 1017-sama huhu Do hope the servers will be much better when I come back. Man, such a waste of free trial period

Yes, they had a 7 year old mmorpg FFXI. XI director was the same as XIV. You wouldn't expect that it's a problem during that time since XI was successful in its own way. Many dream and felt that XIV would be the successor of XI with better graphics, animation, story. Many wish all the best element of XI will be brought forward. sad to say the director think differently and want XIV to be a totally new game and just design something that had nothing in common with XI.

That's final fantasy. A sequel to XI would be XI-2, instead of XIV. New digits means it got nothing to do with any other game with same name but different numbers. |
