Actually can understand the frustration for NA/EU players.
The downtime so bad there and JP server downtime so minimal.

It's like saying JP server they put more effort and the rest they just let it run on it own course.

What's the point to hype up the game to such extreme and bring utter dissapoinment for players when the game is already consider on official launch stage.

Most SE fans have been persuaded to come back again in this 2.0. But they couldnt maintain the most staple condition of the game which is the server downtime. This is not f2p game somemore. Many players are paying for LE and 3mths monthly in advance too.

So there's no reason for them to slack on such matters. This is not a china or taiwan game server too. This is under japan. Many have high expectation for the game.

I do understand the frustration for them too.. but for some of them to do something like 'Raiding' JP servers, demanding unreasonable stuffs.. to do something unethically.. is beyond comprehension..

first of all.. 1.0 is all JP server...
in ARR they established servers outside Japan, which is not available in 1.0.. its the first time for them to do that in FFXIV.. and ofcourse there will be hiccup..
I think the tech is there are working on to fix the issue on NA/EU side.. the maintenance and downtime is given.. if not how to fix it? wait for the server to crash and data might go corrupt and end up with rollback?

Theres nothing wrong with stating out the problem and stuffs.. but with the right channel..

Yea problems cant be magically solve with fingers but money my friend. FF14 has been hosted on a very low allocated bandwidth server. If not how to explain their low capacity for the massive players. When they handled out those copies, they should know the consequences of how many players will be joining.
They did this back in 1.0 ff14 too. And this was also during official launch. Untill the players population started to shrunk.

I'm sure you should be aware that getting stuff done in any corporate company requires you to go through the right channels too. Can suddenly sign off additional server racks 1 ah? Right. And how do you know they're hosted on low-bandwidth hardware if you even know how the server architecture is done at all?

I'm sorry but whatever problems people are having (and I've experienced all of them before) does not justify their atrocious behavior all over the internet right now. I have the right to be upset sure, but I do not have the right to make life miserable for others, players and staff alike. Shit, its not as if I haven't been permabanned by ArenaNet for TWO weeks following the 21karma fiasco when they were supposed to unban me within 48 hours.

Ya .. i do agree that what they did was very wrong. Westerners and Asians are both educate on a different direction. Westerners demanded answers immediately if a problem arise. Asian always have time to negotiate when problem arise and always ask others to put their feelings in other people's shoe.

Though this same story goes for everyone, one day u pay over 99USD for the game.U were back from work/study, u log in and get a bunch of rojak errors. These numbers of course makes no sense to you and neither do you want to troubleshoot these over google. Feeling frustrated over 2hrs u cant login. U decide to wait then. When u finally get to login, u were greeted by noticeable lag throughout your gameplay. It's already 9pm and it's bedtime for you soon. Well no choice u have to logout at 10pm soon. U replied calmly, SE will do something about this.
Unforunately 3rd day onwards, same shyt happen. SE finds that too many complaints on their doorstep. No more Online chat support.
Of course they'll tell u that problem will be solve "soon". How do you feel?
I believe if this goes dangling for a month, people would have transform themselves into a Hulk already.

Its the first three days. Launch week will always be problematic. It has been this way since forever and FFXIV is no exception.

Perfect MMO launch!

..said no MMO dev ever.

nope, sim city and FFXIV different game and different traffic load into the server sweat.gif

Sim City was a city simulation game that did not need an online connection

FFXIV is a MMORPG and have a huge traffic load

what SE did now is not expanding their server to withstand the load

@kimp
sad, can't load ytube at my workplace whistling.gif

already mentioned it - this was painfully obvious to SE during their beta phases

and I mentioned in V9 that SE tends to overlook problems like this and this tarnishes their image

Adding more server racks has its own set of problems including but not limited to player demographic spread. They have probably accounted for expected player concurrency a few months down the road before adding servers just like that.

actually they already have player count statistic hence they should just add enough server racks to account for extra 10 - 20k players

This will not be the case a few months down the road. Adding servers is easy. Removing..less so. There are..complications associated with that, contractual and elsewhere. Most MMOs will see a steady decline in player concurrency following launch week till it normalizes so adding more servers CAN be a bad thing because you're spreading the playerbase. There's also PR bullshit associated with merges that will eventually happen for low pop servers.

That was what I meant. Can add now, but have to account for what to do in the future. hmm.gif
