I am willing to upgrade any time soon, I am using 4Mbps Streamyx as of now.
Edit: And what's funny is every time speed goes very slow in this area which happens a lot of times in year, they will say it's upgrading. Then after some time after the "upgrading", UniFi is still not here.
I did complain but they always tell the usual thing, upgrading, maintenance, call 100, clear browser cache, DNS cache, restart modem. I mean come on?

Upgrading here means upgrading the Streamyx network, NOT setting up infrastructure for UniFi.

Demand: I must say , I was checking for UNIFI 3-4 Years ago , they told me to wait and it will be available by 2011 . Right now this is year 2013 , the street ( lorong 2/92b , lorong 1/92b) opposite to my house already got Unifi support for more than a year .
We don't have 4mbps supports here, no 8mbps either. We can't use Maxis Fiber as well . So basically we got nothing and we can only wait for UNIFI . But this is taking too long . After years and years of waiting , no response , no news even if there are quite some demands. I have made numerous called to UNIFI center, talking how about how there are demands , yet all we were told is to wait . How many more 3 years we should be expected to wait ? We are not even in Kampung area , we are in the middle of a City ! How ridiculous this is .
At least 2 other families I know in the same place are telling me how frustrating and they want to pay for better speed internet, just to end up getting shunned and ignore by Tm net .
We are seriously looking for better , we are willing to pay . But we don't have anywhere else to voice our thoughts . The TM points Staff don't even care about us . Please someone help us .

Wired Infrastructure takes longer times to cover areas compare to Wireless Infrastructure. Everything need approval & safety issue before digging here & there. They cannot simply dig & put fiber cable anyway they like.

AFAIK, if low-cost apartment unifi will skip the area first until main area are covered. For High-Rise Building, they mostly go for condominium as their priority.

Someone pointed out that under Phase One the rollout is supply driven while later phases will be demand driven. So, if TM thinks there is no demand (or insufficient demand) in your neck of the woods, they won't pull fibre to your neighbourhood.
My dad captured this on his dashcam, possible fiber? or just normal telephone line being installed? There's a sign written "Kerja-kerja Telekom di hadapan" but no HSBB signs lying around though.

There was some digging, pulling of cables by maxis just in front of my house a few months back by maxis but I've been checking for coverage from both unifi & maxis fibre site till now still unavailable. I thought both companies uses the same infrastructure?

Condo are different from landed houses. The equipments & cost to install in condo is very very much expensive and if the condo building are those very very old types, the copper line may be very poor & nobody will want to pay for the cost to install all new fiber line or all new copper line as the fiber communication need to sent thru to copper line using the VDSL2 technology and not FTTH.

Exactly. The surrounding blocks A, B, C, D, E and F have 180 lines available, and they're less than 30 meters from Block C1. Block C2 is now starting to have occupants and TM still won't start coverage.
I hope TM does the right thing and provide Unifi as soon as possible. Otherwise, I have no choice but to move to another condo. I wish I didn't have to move (so much work), but, I have not had decent internet in a year, no thanks to TM.

TM should extend the coverage soon to 4/76D as currently 4/76C already covered. Anyway you can apply streamyx first then when UniFi is available, just do Upgrade. There is no extra charges for upgrading.

u can downgrade to streamyx if the area not in unifi coverage( maybe be charge rm200)
after u r in streamyx ,then u can upgrade unifi for free if available
I'm in Taman Tamby Chik Karim, Batu Berendam Melaka. Across the road, Taman Merdeka also no Unifi. But at one end of the road, Taman Angkasa Nuri got Unifi. At another end of the road, also got Unifi AND Maxis Fiber? So my Taman got no Unifi, just the fiber cabling going through the main road going from one side to the other. It's been over a year already still no sign of Unifi going in here. WTF la TMNET. I gave up and now waiting for my 4MB Streamyx. One week still no news haih.

depends on ur usage. if u a downloader/torrent for sure its give big impact.if just normal use,just not worth it

When i download large file via utorrent example 5GB -10GB and if i launch you tube 1080p same time will Unifi 10mb be buffering?
If the torrent download is utilizing full speed of your internet, of course your YouTube will be buffering. But this will not affecting HyppTV since both are different bandwidth allocation.

request unifi for lengkok semilang, 13700 seberang jaya. my house is one of the houses the # is not listed so not eligible for unifi. there is a row of houses TM not willing to extend their unifi coverage after i have submitted request last year
request for Neo Damansara Residensi, Jalan PJU 8/1 Block C2 is also now open, more tenant will be move in. the area was already had unifi in commercial area in same building, but why not the residential?
we had over 30-50 request from all over the building, everyone now is only available to use maxis wireless broadband and it's unstable.

Ya loh correct. Even the area under Tasek exchange where UniFi is enabled cannot cover its whole area 100%.
Tambun area UniFi mostly only cover Sunway township and development only. Bercham there almost up to Tanjung Rambutan and Taman Putera all low cost housing also they cover why prime areas they don't want.
Meanwhile Ipoh city area including Greentown, Old Town, UTC Perak surrounding central, Jln. Pasir Putih and Airport Road no UniFi fibre signs at all. These are Ipoh's most busy areas for business.
Ipoh Parade, Station 18, Jln. Gopeng(Jln. Raja Nazrin Shah), Jln. Pasir Putih, Jln. Yang Kalsom, Greentown are all potential business opportunity. No competition at all.
Ipoh here we have little reported case of stolen copper especially city area. But copper infrastructure very old and believed to exist since colonial times.
Housing area in Pasir Putih (31650) here mostly on copper direct to exchange but very long length so 4mbps also too unstable to subscribe. I got apply 4mbps but TM staff say he won't recommend because too low SNR and high attenuation. Opening up 5120kbps is out of question because line will disconnect often.
I hope the TM people hear and note my petition here. It's not I dun want to support their service. There is no choice at all. It's the cheapest and have the best connectivity.

Blue pipes are for water works dept.
TNB ducts are orange in colour.
TM fibre cables are black in colour, thinner than regular ones with yellow lining.

You sure boh, ur management spoken to TM! Last time I go ask for friend staying in flat, they only need 20 confirmed Unifi10 subscribers.

Demand: I was looking to upgrade to Unifi for a while. The worst part is, just down the road, there is Unifi coverage, but then when it turns onto my street, its unavailable. There's a cutoff point, and some houses can receive Unifi coverage, but the rest aren't eligible.
Since Unifi is unavailable, so is Maxis Fiber or Astro either. Basically, stuck at using 3G/4G Modems with insane quotas such as a measly 10gb a month for 160rm, with 5gb addon being 50rm extra. All they need to do, is basically increase the ports or increase the length of the fiber slightly. It would be so insanely easy to extend the coverage to the rest of the street...

The aim for HSBB2 for general population in urban areas is just 10mbps as mentioned in The Star.

I'm from Kajang, Jalan Asa Jaya 3,Taman Asa Jaya and the taman I live in has unifi coverage however during installation of fibre backbone, they have skipped Jalan Asa Jaya 3,4,5 whereby my Jalan is Jalan Asa Jaya 3. It has been 3 years!! I've done many complaints and even recently I had made complaints to MCMC.
The reason always given is "no demand" by TM.. But many are wondering why no unifi.. Few days ago someone called me from TM and explained that due to low demand in these Jalan they have no plans to install. I'm bored of using streamyx for the pass 15 years...
I need some help guys.. I've even suggested TM to come and perform a door-to-door survey.. coz people are just too busy and their not gonna be bothered to go to TM and create a demand list.

This worked for me too! Although there's no Unifi in my area, I managed to get my internet connection upgraded to 2 mbps after complaining for 2 years to TMNet with no results.

Actually, the upgrade to fibre will prevent thieves from stealing the cables. News article from 2013:

I live in a state capital city and the copper infra at my place had never experience any downtime due to theft works from day 1 till today. Been waiting for HSBB to service my house for over 5 years since 2008.
Not a single case was reported or heard about cable theft. But the government kept bringing up about cable theft issues rampant in the state which I am not convinced enough about their sincerity.
Where are the "exact areas which they keep mentioning that cable theft is serious? Why do they keep insisting that those areas is affecting the expansion of other safe areas within the city? Are they really SINCERE about their words or it's just an excuse for their incompetence?
These are just very recent news brought up the last few days ago and tomorrow is the Budget announcement day.
Before I go on (touchwood*), and after this start too see cable theft cases appear in my area, we can never rule out that these sort of crimes can sometimes be organized crime by some parties for a coverup excuse. You can never deny these games that "Corporations" can devise to put the blame on the public for it. An example is Verizon in USA. For finding an excuse to force their consumers for higher profiting expensive quota based wireless 4G LTE, they shut down their legacy landlines that provide fixed line internet access in stages but "NEVER" replace them with fibre. Leaving consumers optionless for fixed broadband but forcing them to subscribe to their quota based 4G LTE which charges a bomb for 10Gb or 20Gb monthly access.
If some specific areas are prone to cable thefts, identify them accordingly and stop feeding those thieves by setting them up with traps. As for the safe zones, why should we be suffering from expensive and slow speeds just because some unrelated places are dragging us into this despair situation?
If they get expensive expensive quota wireless service, should we eat the same fate as them by punishing the entire state for it? By such move, we can always expect a "culprit" to play sabotage and organize cable theft works to TERRORIZE the entire state so everyone gets the expensive deal. What a stupid excuse is that?

- Apparently only my block no unifi coverage. Even the block next to me has it and not my block which is weird. They say less demand so no install port there. Now only use streamyx 1mb speed nia so damn slow when share with other family members. Realy really hope to have unifi here or faster speed streamyx also ok. 1mb is too low.
Vip20 here....managed to paksa tm to pasang... The port is full at first...go up n down tm...a few rm went to fon call to tm...almost wanna mogok bogel depan tm then they finally granted me with the only port left at the back of my lorong... Installer came and almost cannot pasang coz tm gave the port which far away...they measured about 300m thru outside perimeter.... Have to ask the jiran to cross the cable above their roof..thanks God the jiran was ok with it, otherwise cannot install coz installer said they cannot pasang of more than 200m...

Address: Lorong 11B/1, Jalan Gambir, 96000, Sibu. Almost all the surrounding areas are under Unfi coverage but not for my street. Even at my home I can received the wifi signal from the house at the next street.

The coverage in here totally like jungle. Using Celcom, DG, Maxis, Redone and Umobile totally very low signal, (sometime experience of auto roaming Singapore, Starhub or Singtel ).
Living in here, no hope at all.
So is it fault for TM or this company property?

We already submitted a request to TM hq in Shah Alam, but they said no record. 3 times. We connected streamyx and they promise they will connect unifi next in few months. Now it's 2 years already. Weirdly enough, my road is the only one "enclaved" not getting unifi lines, the neighbouring roads gets unifi for a year now.

got got. but only on the right side after the PLUS toll. left side (bunga raya) has nothing AFAIK. even the cellular lines are very slow there.
Dem, just got a new job in B. B., thinking of looking for a place to live here as currently commuting from Shah Alam, so dem far. I'm used to UniFi 10Mb/s but for the sake of saving fossil fuel, commuting time & lowering risk of accident,s I'm okay with lowering my expectation to even Streamyx 4Mb/s.
But now that you've said those, have to look properly on which house to rent, as long as I can get at least 4Mb/s, then it's okay. Any suggestion on which Taman to look for so I can get 4Mbps / 8Mbps?
