Now is end of year 2013, got viewing angle is pretty bad. No single manufacture will have such issue now.

Don't people get tired of talking about viewing angles of the screen?

Who will benefit from good viewing angles from the side?
Your buddies?
Will they enjoy watching the screen sideways at the wrong angles?

Ask yourself, do you actually view your phone screen sideways for 3 seconds or more and keep it that way?
Or view from the bottom?
Or view the top?

Even though viewing angle is not practically useful, but it is more like a design, it is subjective at times. when you see the white grayish just by turning it a little, a lot of people will get depressed.
you see, this Z1 is a flagship, everything is superior, camera, design, processor, durability even the speaker got improved, but instead the screen is still not as good as the previous Z ultra.
i mean sony should not make such mistake in a flagship device, the best of sony should get better, not worse.

ZL also perform like that too.. i saw rarely turn white on my ZL screen.. of course, iphone and ipad, and friend's s4 perform better in IPS and SuperAmoled. but ZL and Z1 in video also not so bad.. mostly i also view my phone without on straight but still see it clearly with auto brightness enabled..

I remember my belated Nikon D60 also got. Don't recall much haha

Z1 processing is heavier than the HX50V since both is same spec, just 1 is phone 1 is camera. I expect it perform close enough with HX50V

At least none of my friends and colleagues is accepting.

Two my friends decide to get, after knowing Sony is stepping backwards on screen quality, both decide skip and rethink of others phone now.

Base on my previous Z experience, you just need to turn the phone slightly already can seen the colors is shifting. I mean just slightly.

I can't accepting (quite a lot people also) a screen that keep shifting color when using.

does the Z1 come with stereo speakers? it would be awesome if it sounds like the HTC One boomsound speakers
