I am new to TV shopping, I have a rough idea of what the different is, but I see most of the tv are LED instead of plasma.

Maybe I should be more specific by saying I am looking to spend maybe anywhere around 1-2k for the tv. (Not sure what is the appropriate amount to spend for tv this size. Will adjust the budget if required.)

Dumb tv is enough. No need any smart function or 3D. As long as can connect to my media player via HDMI, I'm all set.
*
Panasonic is popular with its Plasma tv. If you are looking at LED tv, maybe can consider other brands.

If your budget is around RM2k, you can't even buy the cheapest Panasonic Plasma tv (50X60K).
LED tv are more expensive than Plasma.

i try to search that model in the trade zone and the price is about 2.3k+ correct?

like i say, if needed I can adjust my budget laugh.gif

any other plasma model i should be looking at? maybe an LED variant?

Edit :

I just realize the 50X60K is only HD, not Full HD sad.gif

If you are looking at LED tv, then consider other brands.
If you are into Plasma tv, the next affordable model is 60ST60K.

TH-P50XT50K (50'' PLASMA TV) RM2,3xx.00
TH-P60S60K (60'' PLASMA TV) RM4,xxx.00
TH-P65ST60K (65'' PLASMA TV) RM8,xxx.00

i think u mean P50XT50K ?
*
P50XT50K is last year's model. Not sure if it is still available. But XT is still HD Ready but with 3D.
Sorry, the next affordable Plasma model is 60S60K not 60ST60K.
S60K is without 3D and using a different panel.
ST60K is with 3D using Neo Plasma panel.

unfortunately the S60K is out of my budget.

is the P50XT50K bad? If it is not bad, I can try to ask around see if any shops still have stock...
*
I did not say the P50XT50K is bad. I said this is last year model. HD Ready with 3D.
Are you ok with HD Ready tv or you want a Full HD tv?

If you are ok with HD Ready Plasma tv, might as well go for 50X60K (no 3D).
From earlier posts, you don't seem to be in favour of HD Ready tv.

looks like P50XT50K is also 720p also..

I guess i will search for LED then. Any idea what LED tv (either this brand or another) i should look at?
*
Generally, for the same size tv, LED tv is more expensive than a Plasma tv.
Why don't you bring your 1080p movies to the shop and test them out on the Panasonic 50X60K and other LED tv?
You will know which one you like to watch your movies on.

how bout TH-L42E6K?
*
Sorry, I am not familiar with LED tv.
You have to wait for LED tv experts to advise you.
This TH-L42E6K is 46" tv. I thought you are looking for 50" tv?

Tried that yesterday night and it doesn't work. The yellow button does nothing.  The two buttons to the left of yeloow seems to be like skip to the next file, and the button to the right of yellow does nothing as well.  Anyone can chip in comment on this?  Need to know how to view subtitle file on MKV video files.
*
lchee, you tried all the buttons but you missed the one I mentioned.

To select the subtitle, you need to press the button below the YELLOW button (on the remote).

Your remote is slightly different from mine, for my case, the OPTION button will do. There can select audio, video, subtitle and etc settings
*
We have ST50 tv, not ST60. That is why the remote is different.
Yes, we can also use the OPTION button to select the subtitle.

anyone of you experience USB overcurrent on your LED TV after plug in 2.5 portable hardisk and how to solve this ?
*
I think the usb port does not have enough juice to drive 2.5" hard disks. Should be no problem with 3.5" hard disks and thumbdrives.

at the moment face this with my portable hardisk. No issue with my thumb drive. Heard from other forum, it is advise to use USB to boost up the power to avoid this error sign. Not able to try as no USB hub with me.
*
That's correct. The tv usb port got not enough juice to drive the 2.5" hard disks. Should be no problem with thumb drives and 3.5" hard disks. 3.5" hard disks got their own power to drive the hard disks.

TV -7850
bracket 150
3 years extended warranty - 1075

I see. I thought the RM7900 you mentioned earlier was for tv, bracket, 3D spectacles and pen.
You bought the extended warranty from the shop or from Panasonic direct?

Oh sorry...for confusion.
That's the final price.

Warranty from shop but its by Panasonic.
*
That means you can call Panasonic Service from now till 2018?
Some shops sell extended warranty to the buyer but after 2 years the tv spoilt, buyer has to call the shop. The shop will get the repairman to attend to the spoilt tv. Not sure they will call Panasonic Service or Ah Chong repairman.

hahaha...this deal also talk until neck long dee....
that smart pen is not inclusive in the package of the tv.
it is sold separately, so I guess camera is really out of the question.

I think for now....its da best deal.
I went to at least six shops...this is the DEAL !!

as for warranty....its based on your tv set and the bar code.
yes duration is now till 2018. Anything just call Panasonic service center
no need call hoe huat. Hoe huat just help to register the set online with Panasonic.

my old set 50v20 , have burnt board issue, just call them , they will come change it in less then 10 minutes.
beres. all they ask is the tv serial number.

so..time to enjoy !!! kekeke
*
Seems like you really go all the way to secure the best deal. rclxms.gif notworthy.gif
As for the warranty, you better go to Panasonic online to confirm the warranty for your new tv is until 2018.

Your 50v20 got problem already? How old is it?

Yeah...sure, the moment I get the warranty card I can do the checking right away.
as for 50v20 its almost 2 years already.

It happened last year.
only on standby mode , tv cannot on. so red light blinking.
call them they ask how many blink they already can diagnose whats actually wrong.
impressive!!

so when you getting yours?

You can check using the serial number of your tv.

I just got my 50ST50 a few months ago. No more upgrade for the next few years.

hi guys, planning to get this panny plasma tv (THP60S60K). is it any good? i dont need 3d. pls comment and advice thkss.. is 4699 a good deal?

If you have the budget, go for the 60ST60K. This model uses the Neo plasma panel while the 60S60K is not.
Google more on the Neo Plasma panel.
