One my of friend working in panasonic bought the VT50 beginning of this year at around RM6.5k... staff purchase.

You might need better luck to get these units nowadays as the open the sales internally first before offering to general market.

The aspect ratio is 16:9 correct as it is 1920x1080 size where the common denominator is 120. Try to check the setting. I remember there is some hsize1 and hsize2 settings where you can slightly enlarge the screen vertically...

Hi guys,

I'm using panasonic L39EM6K tv. How and where to check for the latest firmware? I've been using this tv for 3-4 months. The media player is good, but i cant play certain movie (movie with large size >10gb, movie with long name) and i cant load subtitle correctly.
*
To check the latest update, just launch the Viera Aps such as youtube and it will automatically prompt once it detect new software version.
Do ensure the TV is connected onto internet.

As for subtitle loading, it is a known issue (it cannot load srt file automatically)... but I don't think there is anything one can do about it

As for movie with log name, that's interesting. Is it confirm that once you rename a long filename to a short one, it then can be played?

I think non smart TV cannot do firmware upgrade.
But you will need to call Panasonic to double check on this

MKV with .srt shouldn't be a problem on a new tv.
How big are your movie files?
What about using ext 3.5" hard disk?
*
From what I had try with my panna tv, mkv files with its corresponding srt files in the same folder, the subtitle will not play at all. In the option, when press on subtitle, it will show empty.

Currently what I did is use mkvtoonix to embed the srt file directly. Usually take about 5 minutes for a 5gb movie.

azilazwa's problem was "The timing of the subtitle not match. And sometimes, it skip some sentences. I compared when watching using PC, the subtitle load correctly."
Not sure it is the same problem.

I also embed all my subtitles into the movies. Not so messy in the folder.
*
Oh... timing not match... if this is the case, then defnitely is codec not supported or required too much processing power that the tv cannot output.
Another option is to try other large size bitstreams, see if the same problem happens
The third option is to change the mkv file format to avi by using the mkvtoonix but try maintain it at 10GB.

Ya anfieldude , I thought they just stop R&D but now they are saying stop production as well?
Or are they saying stop production in some plants?

Do you see any problem in getting a TH-P65ST60 next year? I think this model made in SG right?

4K OLED is of course desirable but wont be affordable in the next few years
*
No the set is not made in SG, it will be too expensive to do production there. I believe the production line in SG no more making TV....

If I am not wrong my ST60 unit stickers stated it is made in Thailand. I believe they put on the sticker when the product it finally ready to ship to consumers.
Meaning, the electronic board maybe manufacture somewhere, the plasma panel from Japan, the speakers from india and etc but the finally everything is assemble in Thailand.

He did mention the timer count was 5 mins and powered on once at his reply above.. smile.gif

So it is brand new lo... cause in order to enter the menu, he must at least power once and maybe before entering the menu he spent some time checking out other setting, so the plasma record 5 mins

The last part is a bit tricky, you need to select an empty box in order to see the counter and timer laugh.gif
