then why argue with him? let it go
Thanks for the recommendation. i'm digesting a couple of books about light and post processing (photoshop, lightroom and etc.)
then another question to pique your brain. how important is post processing in creating a beautiful image?
faints~
it does helps to improve the impact of a photo....
is it important? depend on your original photo need fixing or not, need boosting or not. most new DLSR today has feature to boost contrast and saturation, some with build in HDR mode etc... some straight out jpeg can be stunning nice too~
most professional photo, geo nat, fashion, sport(commercially), artist all went through strict post processing. one of my friend in my town does PP for Fashion/Portrait Photographers... each edited photo are charged at USD40-50. (which is cheap in the market) he got a lot customer from australia and europe... sorry i went a little off topic.
i must admit, it does help, and it considered creating lies....
there are two type of postprocessing.
i) Darkroom processing (for negative) and Lightroom processong (For positive) are the same thing just diff sources. they allows your to adjust behavior within the film(negative) digital raw(positive) limit.
so Adobe Lightroom or Raw editor programs are consider acceptable post-processing for those strict no editing contest entries. stuff like, exposure, contrast, saturation, vignetting, lens barrel/pincushion correction, CA correction, curve, black and white, hue, clarity(this function is still in debate)
ii) manipulating Post processing, aka Photoshopped. is where you remove stuff from photo, or add stuff to photo. eg, adding flocks of birds into the river... is totally illegal in contest entries (unless it states accepts photoshop or no editing limit).....
so, which category of post processing you refering?

myself also dizzy liao since u ask such deep question...
