Very happening indeed.

I think most of us agree APS-C camera is good enough for professional works,
but clients often prefer professional photographer to use FF camera.

Kindly C&C on works below.  smile.gif

Thanks, street photography is my favourite.  smile.gif
Thanks bro.  smile.gif
I rented a car during the trip, around 7500yen per day for Nissan Note with English GPS and winter tires (http://www2.tocoo.jp/en).
but you can reach there by bus as well (http://www.nouhibus.co.jp/english/index.html).

But please take note there is only 7 days of light-up event per year in Shirakawa-go,
need to check the official website for timetable (http://lightup.asia/schedule/),
I think they will announce the schedule for next year around September this year.

It is very popular among Taiwanese photography lover, many of them went to Japan just for the Shirakawa-go light-up event.
I would recommend to visit Matsumoto, Kamikochi, Takayama.

ok, i will put them down to my travel list. thanks yea~

I think whole of japan is highlight for taiwan/honkong couple. the last time i went to kyoto, full of couple from hongkong and taiwan getting their wedding photo taken...

Actually, client doesn't really care what camera you use. So as long you deliver to what they need.

Come, make a wild guess which camera was used to take this pic. To start it off, it's not handphone.

need ur advice on afghan girl. why?
*
on personal level, a good portrait also means that you liked how the image is made (composition, color, subject, etc)

as for the afghan girl, why that particular photo? there are millions of girls in afghan, and thousand of photographers there. why that photo? is it because it was the Last Kodakchrome Roll? or because its Steve McCurry work? (all steve portrait looks the same style, sharp piecing eye into the camera)... or because he picked the photo for Geo Nat and Geo Nat uses it as cover and it gotten international attention because its not everyday you get to see photo like this(during 1985?)...... or its just as simple as (my take on the pic when i first saw it. its a good stunning photo,) the girl is pretty in contrast of the dirty broken clothes, the green eye is special, blended well with the BG, and subject is framed with the red clothes. the minimalist of 2 tone, green and red and they paired pretty well. depend on you see it. smile.gif i myself liked it, partly is also that is steve signature style too that i liked sweat.gif

it's a new question. My question is why is steve mccurry's afghan girl the most celebrated portrait on earth?
*
is it? didnt realized that... sweat.gif

btw, now u said like this, it makes me wonder how to put the word "portrait"... do you think portrait as we ask some girls out and snap snap Taiwanese cute girl style, or snap snap Emma Jones sexy bra and panties photo, or... joe mcnally commercial portraits, or steve's jornalism portraits?

portrait can be in many form and style. sweat.gif

there is two new unit adapter in my local sony center. one was opened and used by me for 2 hours and put back. its did not meet my min requirement. if money not an issue, go straight for 10-18, its really a lot sharper and can fully use nex6 phase detect feature.

sorry. rephrase. one of the most celebrated but definitely the most recognizable one (photo).

to me, a human portrait is simply when a person is the subject. So yes, pertaining to your questions, taiwan girls, emma stones?, McNally's and McCurry's are portraits.

A better question is what makes them great?

p.s i've started photography not long ago so i'm quite new but very passionate to understand more about photography.

edited (THE MOST recognizable portrait)

wahhhh this very hard to answer la... its something you learn along the way...

for those famous famous photo, its really hard to point out WHY they are good...

basically there is several ways how a photo can be famous....

Some are taken by someone famous, he, has wider exposure to larger circle of people, and spreading starts...

Some are backed by big marketing company that can give better exposure to your work.

Some, are because the photo itself are so good, that it speaks for itself and later make the photographer famous.

and many other ways. so, im sorry i cant really help you out coz i dont know the answer directly to the question.

but if you wan to learn how to improve your own portraits, yea there are many advise online, forum discussion, magazines, books, online albums(flickr, deviant art, etc)... instead of all about portrait, i would suggest "in the eye of the photographer" (or something) by micheal freeman (i think).... i like the way how he explain the composition... the way he see the 'feng sui' or the 'flow' and show in the book easily understand.

then why argue with him? let it go
Thanks for the recommendation. i'm digesting a couple of books about light and post processing (photoshop, lightroom and etc.)

then another question to pique your brain. how important is post processing in creating a beautiful image?
*
faints~

it does helps to improve the impact of a photo....

is it important? depend on your original photo need fixing or not, need boosting or not. most new DLSR today has feature to boost contrast and saturation, some with build in HDR mode etc... some straight out jpeg can be stunning nice too~

most professional photo, geo nat, fashion, sport(commercially), artist all went through strict post processing. one of my friend in my town does PP for Fashion/Portrait Photographers... each edited photo are charged at USD40-50. (which is cheap in the market) he got a lot customer from australia and europe... sorry i went a little off topic.

i must admit, it does help, and it considered creating lies....

there are two type of postprocessing.
i) Darkroom processing (for negative) and Lightroom processong (For positive) are the same thing just diff sources. they allows your to adjust behavior within the film(negative) digital raw(positive) limit.

so Adobe Lightroom or Raw editor programs are consider acceptable post-processing for those strict no editing contest entries. stuff like, exposure, contrast, saturation, vignetting, lens barrel/pincushion correction, CA correction, curve, black and white, hue, clarity(this function is still in debate)

ii) manipulating Post processing, aka Photoshopped. is where you remove stuff from photo, or add stuff to photo. eg, adding flocks of birds into the river... is totally illegal in contest entries (unless it states accepts photoshop or no editing limit).....

so, which category of post processing you refering? tongue.gif myself also dizzy liao since u ask such deep question...
