may I know what sort of setting you all use for the contrast, saturation and sharpness on Nex6, I would like to tweak further the image quality. Or should i set both hdr and dro to off?

my ignorance but isn't it best to take pix as is and leave all the tweaking to post processing? That way less chance of mess up if effect is not up to mark.. HDR/DRO perhaps only when lighting is difficult.

i seldom do post processing except for brightening, would like to take some good pics without the need to post process every time. so was wondering whether playing around with the nex setting to give better output on jpeg.

Chin,
Not everybody has the time to perform PP. I used to, until my baby came along, and i now shoot in JPEG from RAW. Only those that I think will trip the NEX will I do RAW...

khtan,
For my Nex, U use Bright (I think) as i find it's the closest in terms of colour reproduction to the real thing..

Tks for a differed opinion and choice well noted.

I have work with computers and machines long enough not to 100% dependent on it. Murphy's Law.

I use mostly uncoated lens and that makes post processing almost a definite requirement because its profile is not it the processing table... lens is also extremely temperamental and full of surprise.. but the results are always rewarding.

i also practise myself to shoot jpeg only as i don't want to do pp in any near time.
But sometime the NEX LCD screen is too good to show nice color, but it looks different on the computer monitor. Maybe need to calibrate the monitor too.

Yes the lcd show seems very good colour but come out on pc/ipad so-so only. Im shooting jpeg as well as raw needs pp with time especially if got few hundred pictures. So thinking will it help if i tweak those contrast, saturation and sharpness setting on camera

Khtan,
On my F3, I use portrait setting (+1,-1,+3) located under Brightness / color on the main menu...

My pictures are on my photoblog @ kwan77.blogspot.com which is the result of direct JPEG using the above settings...

I saw RM1700, but not sure it is for the 5ND or other model. can't remember clearly on the clearance list.
u better go there to check out.

The 5N is fantastic camera, i'm using it right now. The sensor quality is quite good. Depends on your skill and lens, it can produce pro level photo, where u can see a lot of NEXers here are!!! thumbup.gif
The 18-55m lens is good enough for everyday use. But for the close up insect shots, u need a MACRO lens. But NEX have the SEL30F35 which is offered at RM590 now at Studio Zaloon!! last time i bought from them around RM900!! ><

Buy a Rocket blower, remove lens, turn the camera upside down and blow the dust away.

in the green mode, press 'down' on the dial to bring up the exposure compensation. then turn the dial clockwise to brighten up the pic.

Hi folks, recently I've grabbed an old lens from my dad's cache, it is Hoya HMC 35-105mm zoom/macro 3.5. I've digged around but couldnt find more info and the related adapter for this lens, any one have insights please advice.

I am new to photography that recently bought Nex-6, trying to find some interesting stuffs to snapp.

Random stuff:

HMC was a third party lens has different camera mounts.. if you know which camera it came from, that will be a starting point for your mystery. Else take it to a good camera shop and see if they can help you.

A photo of it may ring bells to some owners here.
