Astro is no longer having exclusive DTH license, which has ended on Feb 2017.
All this while, you don't see any other DTH provider (direct-to-home, also known as satellite TV provider) except Astro because Astro is having exclusive license on it since 1996. From now onwards, our country can have another satellite TV competitor, provided that if there is a company wants to do so.
But, this DTH exclusive license does not applies to exclusive content/channels.
20y of head start for ASTRO. No company is idiotic enough to compete on same platform. The only content provider that can compete with ASTRO is HyppTV. Media Prima decided long time ago they would stick to free terrestrial TV. You cant expect people to pay to watch political propaganda news.
