Its using the SoC hardware decoder then. The 2.2GHz cores are idling. Only the Snapdragon 800 has the Adreno 330 that supports up to 4K (2160p). The other phones on the market now with Adreno 320 supports hardware decode up to 1080p only, and thus with this video, depends on the ARM cores to do software decode.

If you change MX player to SW decode mode, you'll see that playback probably won't be as smooth.

edited: It plays back just as well and smooth on my SGS3 i9300, also in H/W+ mode. But on HTC One the hardware mode refuses to run and has to be played back via software.

That one is confirm, video playback always need GPU hardware acceleration not the CPU itself only. That why I said Adreno 330 is powerful there also not only the S800 itself.

Neither videos can be run using hardware decode on HTC One. What a bummer!

After owning Z Ultra, I feel Tablet Z not as fast as Z Ultra, it actually not, but for current availability in market, Tablet Z still one of the solid tablet.

The only complain? Still the loud speaker, it is not as good as others.

I think he said those videos can't be run in htc one, and he said htc one a bummer.. I guess u misunderstood what he is trying to say

Everyone around me is using either Note/S4 or iPhone. I think it's scary, like a swarm of zombie..

I just try use S/W mode playback that both 4K video, if H/W+ playback 30fps, S/W playback around 15fps.

Wow! S800 is really fast and faster than my old old laptop.

Ya, really a lot Samsung, surrounding me like 70% using Samsung, 20% using Apple (Apple owner is decrease a lot this year) and probably left out only 10% using others brand.

Your old laptop probably no GPU decoding. Not a very fair comparison...

Yep, its hard baked into the hardware decode engine. Qualcomm is smart in segmenting the chips. Adreno 320 only goes up to 1080p, Adreno 330 goes up to 2160p. I don't think it would have cost much more to include 2160p decoding on the 320...

My year old plus SGS3 can pplay the 1440p via hardware decode, but unfortunately cannot hardware decode 2160p. Which makes it better than my 2 month old HTC One, that only does up to 1080p. And does not hardware playback divx.

Really thinking about getting this XZU now.

Yup, S600 still using same old Adreno 320 which also in S4 Pro.

Beside this Sony Xperia Z Ultra, got few models also base on S800 coming soon, include LG G2 and Sony Xperia Z1 (Honami).
