Well, depends on the developers. Actually, there are many things that current graphic hardware cant render in real time. ray tracing is one good example.

So if developers decide to throw in a video as good as the Final Fantasy movie, then they will need a hell huge of a HD video file

But of course it isnt as mandatory as during the times of PS1

With or without the HD-DVD it's irrelevant. Games developer are unlikely to need so much storage other than storing FMV. With next gen consoles, there should be more real-time and less FMV. If needed, developers can always put their games on 2 or 3 DVD-9, which is probably enough for years to come.

I dun see BD-ROM or HD-DVD holds any advantage at all for next gen consoles.(other than for playing movies)

Please, some of u guys only talking and whining like a bunch of fanboys. For me, it's the games that matter, not the console. Eventhough PS2 graphics like crap compared to X-Box, but the games are much more fun and so many more..

Anyway, Sony PS3 is too expensive compared to its competitors and I think that will make them fail in the next-gen war. I am not a graphics-whore.. I think Nintendo Wii will do very well eventhough I hate Nintendo a lot (for coming out with Nintendo DS Lite, killing off GameCube, different colour for consoles, gimmick and worthless stuff like e-card reader etc.)

The best is to be neutral and own all consoles

again,its only for movies-so that drive has very little use...

my mistake then. but as Matrix said, I too don't quite see the need to have games on HDDVD/BD. Worse come to worst, a little disc swapping can't hurt no?

I actually hate Sony for screwing up the F1 videogame market, screwing up the CD spine design of the Revenge of the Sith OST, screwing up the expanded OST release of The Phantom Menace, not giving us expanded releases of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith because their screwed up Phantom Menace expanded release sold like shit, screwing up Nikon with their dslr CCDs (which honestly arent THAT bad but still quite a bit behind Canon's), having stupid 8mb memory cards on the PS2 (RM60 for EIGHT MB? Gosh..) and finally screwing up the PS3 controller with no vibration.

I guess the only hope xbox360 has is its price...and if the hard headed MS guys realize they have to do everything to get Japanese rpgs on their console...then i think it will do 40-60% better in sales.

if they were coming out with hd-dvd add-on, i'm sure the usb can handle the data streams. i still believe better to get the add-on than buying a stand-alone player. cost less, and if the laser head got spoilt, thats the add-on only, not xb360.

the reason why japs don't buy an xbox 360 is not because it's lacking games. it's just that japanese hate d machine! It wouldn't even cross their minds about getting one. the ps3 market share in japan is virtually assured. Though they were also a bit shock about the price, 5 mins later they're thinking about breaking the piggy banks to buy one. MGS4 is one major factor i must say. and that's not even rpg.

If Square-Enix, CAPCOM and Konami all go XBOX360 exclusive (including all those girl-friend dating simulators makers), you still think the 360 will lose to PS3 in Japan??

It's all about games, not the hardware, but unfortunately for MS, that won't happen.
