Alright. U can read from Malaysia Kita things like:

1. the structure of the govt,
2. the difference of Dewan Rakyat, Dewan Negara,
3. various policies implemented by the govt
4. All the RMKs
5. How Malaysia was established
6. the various (& different) resposibilities of State & Federal Govt.

There's more. But, dun read all 600+ pages la. Well, if U have the time then read, but dun worry too much if U can't read it all.

Good luck.

For all govt interviews for posts of grade 41 & higher, these posts are in the Pengurusan & Profesional group, means that Ur gonna be officers. In the govt, posts of grade 27 & above are considered officers, but between grades 27-40, these are lower ranked officers, still in the Kumpulan Sokongan. So for 41 posts, pls wear lounge suit or jackets. For interviews of Penolong Pegawai Tadbir N27, a necktie will suffice. During the last interview on the 4/2, I saw some male candidates who turned up with long hair, & some with less than presentable outfits. Pls, avoid all that. Even if U have long hair now that U've kept for the past 3-4 years, pls cut it. That shows Ur seriousness to be in the govt. I've been involved in a couple of interview for N27 posts, & I would straightaway tell the candidates (in a diplomatic way) if they dress not up to standards. Pls ask around, surely some of Ur friends have been to these interviews, any interview. If U were the boss, would U pick guys like that ? Exactly....

In the govt of Malaysia, BM is the official language, so most of the interview will be conducted in BM. But of course, the govt would like have its officers to have a fair command of English language, so expect some questions to be asked in English.

Normally there will be 3 interviewers, one will be the chairman, usually a senior officer of grade JUSA or higher (not necessarily, but usually are Datuks). The other two would be officers of grade 48 & above. They will look for candidates with a good personality, can answer all questions convincingly, know a little bit about the govt machineries & have that leadership aura. Pls do not answer "I dunno" for all questions about the govt, at least know the name of the current KSN.

One trick question: They will normally ask U what are Ur interests, like sports, IT. Chances are, they WILL ask U what do U know about those things in the govt. Example: becoz I was an IT graduate, they asked me whether I've heard about HRMIS. I didn't know nothing, but I guessed correctly from the acronym. When they asked me further questions about HRMIS, it was a gone case edi. So, be careful what U say, it might be used against U.

Good luck.

Calm down.

In the service, there's been a few opinions about this new intake process. Nowadays it seems, instead of only SPA, the JPA is also conducting recruitment process for PTD M41 contract. The JPA in appears, will select from their scholars, those with CGPA 3.0 & above & straightaway to the interview process. They will be offered 2 years contract if successful. This process has drawn flak from within the service, becoz SPA was supposed to do the recruitment, but now with JPA also recruiting, what's the point of having all the 3-stage recruitment process when U can straightaway walk into the service thru the JPA's channel ? But pls be advised, they will only be offered 2 years contract & there's absolutely NO WAY can they be absorbed into permanent service. They still have to go thru the SPA's channel. The contract PTD however, can get recommendation from their respective departments, which will make the entry into permanent easier (but not direct).

There's also another way to get into the public service. Every Ministry can recruit their own Pegawai Tadbir N41 kontrak. They'll interview candidates themselves, without having to go to JPA or SPA. The number off ppl they take depends on the vacancy (which is, for some Ministry, a lot). U can just submit Ur resume to the respective Ministry's HR dept & they will cal U for an interview when the time comes. Still, this offer no automatic absorbtion into permanent service.

As I said, for this kinda intake, it depends a lot on the Ministry itself. It depends on the budget, the requirements, location, whether the Ministry's premises still have places to accomodate new officers (in my dept, there's no more room to put even another officer). So the best way is just to send in Ur resume, they'll let U know if they're taking in ppl. AFAIK, only my ministry has exercised our rights to take contract officers, but even that was like ... 3 months ago.. I dun think we're taking anymore, we're just waiting for JPA & SPA's ppl.

If U've been working, & if U think the certs will have anything to do with the post Ur applying, then put it in la. I mean, let's say if U attended management courses, 5S, ISO, especially if special achievement involved (best student, best salesman, etc). If not, then tak payahla.

One more thing, there's a specific way U have to arrange Ur certs in Ur folder. Pls refer to Ur letter. U shud arrange Ur certs exactly that way. I forgot how edi.

am i correct?

i guess it's better go through JPA itself aite? since there is no assessment....

am i correct again?

Not everybody will have the chance to get in thru the JPA route. Why ? Becoz they have their own pool of candidates to choose from & these candidates, some of them aren't even from SPA's waiting list. Those SPA8 form U filled in, will go to SPA & not JPA.

On the chances & process of becoming permanent, I really can't comment coz I dun really know what's going on in SPA or JPA these days. Too many heads, if U know what I mean..... doh.gif

Just call me Tenno...

I think in the interview letter, they did state there what cert U have to bring along rite ? So arrange Ur certs according to that order la.

For the straight A thingy, maybe if U apply thru JPA only U have to worry about that la. Thru SPA, shud be no problem. I got a third-class degree okay.... Believe in Urself, it's how U potray Urself in the interview, show them reason why they shud hire U...

Hi Tenno

Is it true by becoming a PTD u cannot choose any ministries or agencies that you would like to work with? Based on your experience is it possible for a PTD to join a part time Master program?
