i dont wanna stress up myself towards tis interview session. just wanna do the documentation thing earlier coz im afraid im not be able to spend more time on it later. ive got lots of work to be handle and i dunno if i have a chance to go for the interview (even to study) since i only received the letter yesterday and have not apply for my leave yet...

and i dont wanna put so much hope on tis either. ive saw my frens who's been trying so hard for tis post and end up frustrated eventually..

Just call me Tenno...

I think in the interview letter, they did state there what cert U have to bring along rite ? So arrange Ur certs according to that order la.

For the straight A thingy, maybe if U apply thru JPA only U have to worry about that la. Thru SPA, shud be no problem. I got a third-class degree okay.... Believe in Urself, it's how U potray Urself in the interview, show them reason why they shud hire U...

Hi Tenno

Is it true by becoming a PTD u cannot choose any ministries or agencies that you would like to work with? Based on your experience is it possible for a PTD to join a part time Master program?
*
True. They will select U based on Ur qualifications & previous working experience. However, they do allow U to list 3 choices of preferred ministry. Dun count of getting 'em though. I'm working in a ministry I didn't list. Every civil servant will have the opportunity to further Ur study, especially PTD. Not just masters, PhD as well. & it's full-time paid leave (half month la).

If U like what Ur doing now, why leave ? That will be the first question they ask in the interview. Why take the risk of working with ppl U dun like in the first place ?

MCS ? .... hmm... British ? Ur talking about Malaysia or UK ? Did U mean Malayan Civil Service ? Becoz it's 2009 already & we've gained independence from the British for 52 years this year.... & we've stopped calling PTDs MCS for quite sometime already...

I dun like politics as well, but recently I found out that it's a necessary evil. I've only recently registered as a voter & the last PRU was my first time voting.

Sure, no prob.

Well, for contract officers, U won't be eligible for govt loans. That's it actually. U'll still get the medical, bonuses, claims, etc. In some cases (I dunno about this one), U won't get 25 days leave, maybe U'll get like 15-20 days. Those T&C will be spelled out in Ur contract later la.

Tenno,

If you dont mind, can you share anything that you dislike about becoming a ptd? If you can...

(This is not a trap question. Who knows it might help us to make the final decision and understand the truth about ptd) Please.

i did my internship in government, they won't hire u permanently one, will go for contract based first(some have to wait for 4 years). most of them don't leave coz cannot speak english,so of course can work in gov only...and one of my senior got ptd,she told me that there are many phases-physical,mental etc. and yes it's true that u will be rotated around, sometimes become police, sometimes become executive, sometimes become bomba i guess..
*
The one U mentioned, sometimes become bomba, polis etc is during the DPA or Diploma Pengurusan Awam, not during work. Rotation during work means U'll get to go to other govt depts or ministries, & do other things. PTD won't be doing the same thing throughout their career. However some ministries, like MOF, we find it a little difficult to let go of our officers, becoz of the nature of our work. I'm not gonna stay in HR forever, I'd like to do other things as well.

During DPA there will be modules that require U to undergo military, fire dept & police training. This year they've added another one : officers will undergo 2 weeks of hospital training. What do they do there ? I dunno. My friend working in Kota Bharu hospital said they didn't even make preparations for the training. Dunno whether it'll become a permanent fixture.

Well, I believe I've answered this kinda questions in previous posts. The SOP or the norm is to conduct in Malay, with some English in between. Even when I was interviewed by an Indian officer, he talked to me in BM. & during the course of Ur work also, it would be in BM. So, when U choose or decide to try Ur luck in the public sector, maybe it's time to improve on Ur BM, spoken & written. Other than that I couldn't comment much.
