Thank you for the info, will check my local hardware store for adjustable pressure compressor, now the only problem is to figure out how to connect air brush to the compressor.  tongue.gif
*
hmm that might be a bit tricky.maybe u can go to Venus Art in Petaling Street and ask what is needed to connect the airbrush to the compressor. They might be able to help.

btw, here's some info i got from rctech forum:

Airbrush hoses are 1/4" inch fittings.
Most Air equipment is 1/4" inch as well.
Some are more heavy duty which are 3/8 inch fittings.
This is easy to fix as they sell couplers to go from 1/4" to 3/8".
These literally only cost like $1.00US ($1.40AUD) at any Hardware Store.

btw,u can search n read a lot of info on airbrush here

if the compressor ia s piston type, it is quite noisy. I ve a compressor using rotary type (use in freeze). Very quiet. Can work in late night also. Brought it 16yrs ago. still run perfectly.

but from comments i read,i'm pretty sure its pretty silent.

Now since my Gundam madness is back, would like to get a compressor...full spec wan. Any idea where to get the best price ? Moisture trap, silencer, storage tank...

Iwata airbrush is damn pricey ler...how bad is the maintenance like ? A lot of parts to clean or not ? smile.gif
*
most of the newer compressors today is maintenance free.if silent is what u want,i suggest silentaire compressor.u can order these from www.bearair.com

I think he indicated it located in UE3 = KL, Cheras
shocking.gif Whole car?  It's technically possible, but will take forever to complete if you use the hobby version.  Best that you look for the industrial type.
*
yup, better use the spray gun.if not, imagine that u'll be painting 0.5 mm lines a time.it'll take ages to complete.just get a spray gun, they're those that have HUGE paint cups and looks like a gun with a bottle attached on top

not really airbrush question..but its related

about model paint..can we use mr.hobby thinner to thin tamiya acrylic paint?
i know tamiiya acrylic is water base..but can we actually thin it with water?
i still need to spend RM40 for tamiya acrylic thinner
*
btw, acrylic is water based meh???i thought two totally different things blink.gif if ur paint is water based, like createx,u can use water, but i read windex is better(dunno got this here or not).Other types of paint i think should use paint thinner.

Btw,i reccomend Createx line of paints, haven't find it locally, but u can get the paint sets from bearair.com.It is really good stuff, and generally water based paints(createx is water based) are safe to spray inside ur house, while lacquer, enamel, acrylic(not sure with acrylic) is pretty toxic to spray inside.Btw,in case u asked, createx is the same as Parma's line of Faskolor paints, just that Createx comes in bigger sizes and is cheaper.Createx is good for anything, fabric, metal, lexan, plastic. So u guys might wanna give it a try thumbup.gif

think the cheaper alternative in getting iwata is either a bulk buy or getting it from ebay. sad.gif

anybody doing a bulk  buy?
*
the chances of that happening is as thin as a paper IMO.Not many people like to airbrush, and not many willing to fork out that ammount of money for an Iwata.I know i would though laugh.gif

so which of the iwata series is gd for spray gundam?
*
As a rule of thumb, any Iwata is a good Iwata.I think the Iwata HP-CS should fit the bill nicely. But have to order from overseas and it'll burn ur wallet. If ur not experienced in airbrush,i reccomend getting like Sparmax Airbrush and learn to use it first.Once ur good with it,then go ahead n buy an iwata. My 2 sen oni.Like if ur gonna do just gundams, then an Iwata is a bit overkill. So get a Sparmax first then go on from there.

Thanks ntc3freak. Really expensive this iwata. The aztek look more value for money. One AB can tackle all size. And the price reasonable.
*
BIG BIG NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I hope u have not ordered or anything yet,but i've heard nothing but bad stuff for the Aztek. At first,i also drooled at the quick change nozzles, bla bla bla, then i read people complain can't spray well, the nozzles too flimsy, not worth it.I donnoe, should look for other airbrush.Just my airbrush

QUOTE(Ratatosk @ Oct 27 2006, 10:26 PM)
I'm a n00b with airbrushing... so don't really know what's the standard to compare with.

But the rm600 compressor with airtank from VA is good enough for me. Quiet enough to use at night.

With the airtank and the auto-off... the compressor only turns on once every few minutes when you're using. It seems to handle pressure up to 60+ psi pretty well.

Don't notice any pulsing.

Other than this... I can't really give much opinion abt it. I think most of the problems I'm experiencing is cos of the paint... Not enough experience to know how to mix paint properly and know what pressure setting to use.

Still lots of trial and error. smile.gif
*
I'm glad ur happy with it.As a matter of fact,VA has just increased(i think) the price for the AB and compressors. My friend called the other day and the uncle said the price has changed, and worst of all,he said come to shop first then i'll tell.About the mixing thing and pressure setting, don't worry, you're not the only one.Everyone have this problem, even the pros. It's just trial and error, like you said.I'm also glad the compressor is silent.

P/S: i wonder why this thread so quiet laugh.gif

Thanks ntc3freak. Lucky you have the information about this Aztek. Any AB that is reasonable price?
*
Hmm at the moment,i think should get Sparmax. But there's a good chance i'll get it this weekend. If i do,i'll comment on it.Or u can get Olympos, which is the same with Sparmax(Olympos just rebrand Sparmax airbrush). This two should last you long enough until you want to upgrade to Iwata or anything. That doesn't mean it's not going to last though. As with all things,if u take care of it,it shouldn't fail. And furthermore,VA in Petaling Street sells spare parts for these two ABs.So there shouldn't be a problem.

And BTW,if you guys are planning to do occasional ABing, don't bother getting the more expensive ones like Iwata. It's simply not worth it.If you're doing small businesses like me,then you might wanna get Iwata. It was always my dream to own an Iwata. But i have to wait for a little longer. My 2 cents

seriously..sparmax is already good enough if you just wanna paint model or other not so serious airbrushing..

i been using it for some times already now..and dont have a problem with it..but of cause..u really need to take care of it la..clean it every single time after you done using it..

and also its better to get a full compressor instead of the mini one..im using the mini one..and sometimes..it can spray out water when you wanna do fine lining..
*
yup sparmax is good enough for casual ABing. As with any other AB,u need to take care of it.What about the mini one???the one without tanks????
