Phone prices will keep on dropping. That's a well known fact.
Just get what you can afford at the moment. Normally, the waiting game is played when one person's affordability is limited to an extent.

That apply to me at the moment, i will wait, my wallet tell me that many awesome model will come on Q3&Q4 of this year.. hehe

Yes, to be frank. October period is the best time to buy as many phones would be releasing in end-September or October period, like Note III & One Max - which will be fierce competition for XZU, potentially driving down XZU price further. However, the XZU's massive 6.44" screen may still give it an edge over the more common-place sizes of below 6 inches.

Expected lah! Pricing always cheaper from 3rd party vs Sony Centers
Seems theirs are through Thorus distributor n not directly from Sony Malaysia
*
Thorus? This is interesting. I would reckon Sony Malaysia's warranty support to be better than any other distributor, but I did hear good things long ago about Thorus.

Thorus set warranty can be processed at Sony Centers ? I have no experience dealing in warranty for Sony stuffs yet.  If so no difference getting it n at cheaper price
*
Not sure about this. I believe what's important for authorized set warranty is more on the claim time, rather than whether there are problems on making claims.

Outdoor photo taken using Superior Auto Mode.

Bright Outdoor photo is awesome! Like it! biggrin.gif

* This time I don't see any over post processing issue. I find it actually taken better photo than Z, picture more in details, sharp and vivid.

For the tablet xperia z, I use the SP that comes with the Incipio case
Never like to use SP but these scratchable anti shatter film is dissapointing
*
Uncle Benny, r u using any SP for your XZU now? Just don't know where to get one now.

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Jul 31 2013, 09:50 AM)
Since Tablet Z - Sony logo not printed at Shatter Sheet, I decide not stick any screen protector anymore. Once too scratch, I will pill off that Shatter Sheet.

As I damn hate SP.
*
If you peel off the shatter sheet, will it look horrible? I mean will there be marks on the phone? But then again, under the shatter sheet is not Gorilla Glass, so probably the layer underneath is also quite fragile? hmm.gif

Normally if a friend ask me to do that, I will ask them to buy their own XZU and I will help them 'submerge test' instead. rclxms.gif

The Sony 3500mAh bank is very pricey ( mark retail price is RM 199) : seriously anybody want to buy it at such a price ? One is only paying for the brand. For about same amount of money one can get a Yoobao 11200 mAh - and this is a very good powerbank . Has been using it past 2+ years
*
It's supposed to be a premium material product - aluminium slim build, with hybrid-gel-cell technology, and 1000x charge cycle at 90% capacity (most other banks work probably 100x before becoming poor in performance). There's always a market I guess if one considers all this. Of course, due to the high price, most people would go for Yoobao, and cheaper brands. Cheers~

If you have time, try to do a thickness comparison.

This XZU is even thinner than iPhone 5. thumbup.gif

Why your pocket can't fit?

I'm slim build, and wear slim-fit work pants also can fit in perfectly. No issues.

But jeans with short pockets will be a problem, though. I'm not a jeans-fan, maybe getting old d. tongue.gif

for me why i still favor my xperia tablet z over z ultra in term of size, 10.1 suited me better for reading. i read a lot of mangas, also with tablet z, i can even view 2 pages in landscape mode easily n it is still sharp. using perfect viewer. so for me tablet is still best at 10.1/or 8-9'' (previous sony tablet s and xperia tablet s is 9.4'' , ipad is 9.7'' ipad mini 8''). more than 5'' - less 7'' is phablet size.

for example

For comic viewing, the bigger the better due to the small fonts used.

But my XZU is just nice for e-book reading. Almost perfect size. The Note II I used before I found it to be a tad too small.

I've claimed my shirt, case and memory card from Sony Mobile Hotspot at Pyramid. But beware, they really check everything to make sure you buy from 1st August onwards.

QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 2 2013, 09:14 AM)
Those worried about using the power button too often n wearing it off do consider the app gravity screen on.
Just by merely moving the phone slightly it wakes up display plus many other features too. The free version works very well. Donate to developer if you appreciate it n it cost less than us$2.
Check.it out
*
But if one keeps the XZU in pocket all the time, it will be a disaster and the phone will keep turning on non-stop, right? I'm using Proximity Actions now but the app seems to be not 100% stable.

To those waiting for the LTE version, some rather disturbing news:

https://twitter.com/Soya_Cincau/statuses/362884727809642498
*
I don't really believe that. If by September/October Sony doesn't bring the LTE version in, everybody will flock to One Max and Note III (provided that these phones have LTE), instead of XZU.

QUOTE(chkhoo76 @ Aug 2 2013, 10:11 AM)
expected to cost Rm600-700?
*
Definitely not unless Sony is out of their minds. It's just a typical SBH bluetooth headset that has an additional earpiece on the controller.

Quite a nice shot there. Good composition. biggrin.gif

Actually, why don't Sony use back the same sensor that they manufacture for the iPhone (unless iPhone already using other manufacturer now). Those are really superior. I took photos of certain places with my iPhone 5 and compare the same taken with XZU - worlds of difference.

QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 2 2013, 11:04 AM)
I don't think so. Why don't you try it to assess. Where you got this idea the phone will be waking up while in pocket. You can even set this in the settings

[attachmentid=3566300]

This is the app description :
Description

Using your phone often? Tired of the On-Off switching?
This app turns automatically your screen off when you put your phone into your pocket or onto a table and turn the screen on when you take it out or up. No need to touch any button and you are ready to go.
HOW IT WORKS:
It monitors the orientation of the device through the gravity sensor. When your phone is pointing downward by its top, in a certain angle, it's likely to be out of use. In this situation the proximity sensor is activated to determine if it is covered. If yes, the screen turns off because probably you placed the phone into your pocket or onto a table.
To keep the battery usage low the program turns on the proximity sensor only when it's really necessary. Moreover, when it turns your screen off and the proximity sensor is covered it puts your phone into deep sleep state to save as much energy as possible.
MAIN FEATURES:
- Pocket Sensor: Recognizes if your phone is in your pocket. By turning your phone below the angle you set, it'll prepare to turn the screen off.
- Table Sensor: Detects your phone is lying on a table and turns the screen off.

- Turn Screen On by Motion: If the screen is off and it's facing up the device can be woken up by any movements, for example lift up by hand.
- Keep Screen On by Motion: It's a Screebl like feature but it's relying on the small movements you are doing by your hand while holding the phone. If small motions are detected while the screen is facing up the feature keeps the screen on because it can be suspected that the phone is held and probably you are reading something long. If the phone is steady the normal screen timeout will apply in any position you leave your device.
- Tasker, Llama, Locale supported by plug-in.
*
Will try this later. Using Proximity Actions and due to the sensor always active, the phone keeps turning on in my pocket - draining battery. This app you mentioned uses accelerometer I understand, but I'll check and see if there is constant waking since I keep my XZU in my pants pocket. biggrin.gif

Agreed. My iPhone 5 in such lighting would turn the photo into a pretty good one actually.

Not really. Since promotion for the gifts supposed to be for 1st August 2013 onwards, they have the right not to give. But of course, technically Sony Centres cannot sell before 1st August, so cannot blame the customer. brows.gif

The Gravity Screen Apps drain battery quite heavily. Been using the hp like normal for few hours after installation and it turned out to be in Rank 2 consuming 12% of the battery .... higher than Voice Call 11 % , Android OS 9%, Android System 5%....... Screen 48%
*
The developer of the app has answered this query in the FAQ or in one of the user reviews in Play Store. Developer said normally should be 6% only unless you keep waking the phone, and they said the battery drain stats should be checked upon a period of 1 day rather than short period.
