played with Sony XZU today, and here are my impressions:

let's get the uglies out first:
the most obvious one is the terribly weak vibration, I downloaded Multiling Keyboard to compare the typing experience to what I'm using now, I set it up exactly the same as my i9000, but I'm surprised to find no vibration feedback! On my i9000 it's set to 3/5, but on XZU I had to set it to 5/5 to feel the vibration, even then it's weaker than my i9000

speaking of keyboard, I installed multiling on both XZU and HTC1 (I tried both), and HTC1 seems to be more accurate in recoginizing my inputs

another thing to take note is the sound from the speaker
it is bad. period.
and soft.

camera ok ok

no flashlight sad.gif
no android browser sad.gif

now, the parts I love:

LARGE SCREEN FTW!!!
oh my god the screen is so big and bright and beautiful arghhhhh!!!!
I. LOVE. IT!!!

IT'S SO THIN & LIGHT!!
really like the feel of it in my hands, so thin, so light, so thin... just like holding a card... it really feels like in the sci-fi movies where the hand held computers are just thin slabs in their hands... I've used ipads before, but they never gave me the same feeling, I think this is evoked by the design language of Sony, it feels really futuristic

IT'S FAST
tried to do as much as I can in the duration I played with it, never seemed to hiccup or slow down

other stuffs that I really dig on this phone...
I really really really like the panaroma mode, it can sweep with the phone holding horizontal and vertical, the HTC1 can only do panaroma in horizontal mode...

also, the bottom softkeys, I can see that in the future devs will provide options to remove them and use replacements like Pie Launcher and LMT Launcher, so the full screen estate will be available

and XZU has built in chinese and japanese keyboard which works quite well, HTC1 only has built in chinese... yes I know there are tons of keyboard replacements, but I prefer to use stock if it's good, and the XZU's jap keyboard is even better than Multiling Keyboard, the best I've used so far on my i9000

I downloaded alice in the wonderland pdf and tried to read it on XZU, the large screen makes it really enjoyable

after I played with the XZU I tried out the HTC1 too, that's why you see a lot of comparison between them
HTC One impressions here https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=62334571

so, I came home torn between the XZU and HTC1...

on 1 hand, I would love to get the XZU for the points I mentioned above, the negatives are tolerable, but as I think more of it, it seems that there are less Devs for Sony...
one thing that I will need is the ability to overclock the GPU and underclock the CPU... from what I can see on the developement of XZ now is that the DoomKernel allows this, but not as easy as on HTC1 (I'm lazy, and more steps means more chances to F up)...

also I really like the stock android browser, why didn't Sony include that? sad.gif
