I think the distributor is attached to the cam shaft with wormgears to translate the rotation 90 degrees. Also I believe this design is leftover from those days of rear-wheel-drive cars, where there is space constraint force the designers to locate the distributor at the side. If the distributor is at the end of the camshaft like ours, the distributor will be located inside the dashboard, see picture below from the days of the Galant Sigma, Datsun 120Y, Corolla KE30....

I'd like to add something of my own. Credits go to gemini sharti because I have stolen his pictures. It's about the odometer that stops working. Yes, do the usual cleaning and light lubrication once you open the panel. But on careful observation, I noticed that the reason my odometer stopped was because the circled gears were not in alignment.

So at the other end (circled) I put a small spacer to make sure it was pushing the gears towards one side and making sure the alignment was correct. I did that with a bit of the insulation part of an electrical wire. The PVC cover is easy to cut to the correct length for the spacer, and then I just clipped it over the metal shaft.

This was done when the odo was about 60k, and 100k km later, my odo still works! That was a long time ago so I don't have pictures, but I'll try to explain if anyone needs me to.

done the door panel plastic clips. apparently my area here cost RM2 per clip. a bit rip off but then if go survey other place the $ used for petrol is the same like paying that shop. lol.

if you open the door panel, on the inside there's white clips surrounding it for the panel to stick to the metal door frame. it's plastic and white in color. something like this:

So went to the auto wiring specialist today and guess what?... The boss did some checking and found out the relay was faulty... The same relay that was changed when I changed my horn last month...he fixed it in less than 10 minutes and total cost only rm40... RM30 for relay and 10 for labour.

I'm surprised the accessory shop that quoted me rm230 for new signal switch change didn't even check the relays, really so useless... Never going back there already.

So guys, anything wrong with electrical items in car better go to auto wiring specialist.

You have an auto choke. Most likely its sticking. A repair kit can be used but I find most mechs are just to lazy to do it. Does it revert to a lower RPM when you next start the car? Eg, you drive to work in the morning, it tends to idle at 1300-1500. Then you stop when you reach office and start again around lunch. Des it still idle at higher RPM?

Incidentally, on the Saga/Iswara, the rear bearing seem to deteriorate faster than the fronts.  I have changed 4 over 20 years (either wheel) but have yet to replace the fronts. If its not worn off too badly, it will not rock, but you may just be able to discern some roughness when you turn the wheel by hand.

For the front ones, you don't need a press to put them back in tho.

Open your bonnet, from the left side of your car look for the screw circled in the photo below. It is at a funny up-side-down angle...

See if the screw end is in contact with the bracket thingy of the carburettor. If yes, can still be adjusted.

Unscrew/loosen to reduce engine speed...

hmm...have to consider items that will be replaced as well like timing belt, a/c belt, alternator belt, water pump in addition to standard replacement items like seals and gasket in and around the engine.

If I were you I'd prepare at least RM2K for full overhaul....but, mush more important than price is the quality of work, therefore, better (must actually) have a reliable place to do the overhaul for you

if leaked there should be a lot of grinding, best to get it checked/replaced anyways since a year is a decently long time for most gear oil to last especially the cheaper ones.

The leak is likely due to the bad condition of the gasket of valve rocker cover and/or distributor O-ring. Not costly items to change.
