Thinking of moving over from Maxis Postpaid to U Mobile 28 prepaid. Can I just MNP directly?

Also, how's the coverage and speed of U mobile 3G/HSPA+ in KL, PJ and SJ?

I only hv latest bill..
Here:
Sms other Local operators-20 umobile-80 -->foc
Call:Rm20
Data:1192mb
Hahaha... icon_question.gif
Thanks!

If you are willing to compromise for your data plan quota, then UMI28 is thumbup.gif

RM20 of calls = 20 / 0.20 = 100 minutes(not exactly correct but you'll get the rough idea)

If you plan to:
1. Keep existing plan(if you want to keep your number)
Apply for the Postpaid Voice Plus Talk Plus Addon pack for RM8 for a 80 minutes call to other operators per month
http://www.u.com.my/postpaid-packages/postpaid-add-on-pack

then, for the remaining 20 minutes not covered by the addon pack:
20 * 0.2 = RM4

Total Call Usage: RM 8 + RM 4 = 12

Comparison: 12 vs 20 = ? laugh.gif

2. Change the plan
Apply for UMI28. It has 30 free sms to all operators, 100 free minutes of calls to all operators and 500mb of data quota.

so,

Based on your usage, your usage is 100 minute - 100 minute of the free calls = 0(not exactly 0, but even if so, the prepaid's call rate is cheaper than postpaid so it is still cheaper thumbup.gif )

Comparison: Call usage reduced by a lot, but data plan only 500mb

An idea of thought:
Since a direct conversion of plan from postpaid to prepaid is not possible, then what if you mnp it to another telco then mnp it back to umobile? laugh.gif

anyway, Summoning digilife thumbup.gif

As a student, I believe that you would want to save as much as money that you can though, so that you can use it elsewhere brows.gif

Can I go for Umobile postpaid 28 and add on RM8/month for extra 80 minutes call? thumbup.gif

Which means with only RM36/month, I can get 1GB Data, 80 minutes call, 200sms to all operators?
*
Sure. Why not? laugh.gif Yes, what you've said is true brows.gif brows.gif

Yeah thumbup.gif

Just some simple calculations and you can see how to save RM12/month liao.

Existing Postpaid 28
Pay RM28/month for 1GB Data, 200sms to all operators

Call rate PAYU that is RM0.20/minute, let's say you use 100 minutes, you have to pay RM20.

But if you subscribe to the Talk Plus add-on pack, you only pay RM8/month for 80 minutes!!

What is this man sweat.gif  laugh.gif

Btw bro, can advise on the coverage and 3G speed in KL,PJ and SJ? smile.gif
*
yeah, I've just explained that in the above post as well icon_rolleyes.gif

In my experience at KL and SJ(not sure bout PJ, I only pass by there when I go to KL), but the signal is usually 3 or 4 bar and the speed is usually around 1 - 2mbps(sometimes 3mbps, depending on location, and it is based on speedtests done on speedtest.net)...... pretty suitable for normal surfing, whatsapp, fb without much hiccup laugh.gif

This is based on in door test btw, outdoor should be better

However, u can use 3G traffic app monitor to track...

well, okay. It seems that it is still the same, I guess that I'll drop him an email then.

Thanks btw icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Jul 30 2013, 08:12 AM)
Just to clarify ya, the RM8 calls to other operators is only calls to other networks (Maxis/Celcom/Digi). Calls to land lines NOT INCLUDED. So if you call back your kampung landline you pay RM0.20 per minute.

Also, obviously, calls to U-mobile not included.

What is the data rate for prepaid users???

I refer it being quite cheap like 10c per 1MB or something.

I lost RM5 just like that.... Was browsing a few pages, YouTube for a few seconds to check loading speed and did one speed test. RM5 gone like that???

Actually when I just pit in my sim card I got a configuration message bla bla, then I checked my balance and I only saw RM3.10 but I didn't use data at all.... After that I did the above paragraph.....

What's going on? doh.gif
*
probably that the configuration is to download the U Mobile's network settings so you've downloaded it? sweat.gif

anyway, go and drop by to your nearest U Mobile Store and ask for an explanation. icon_rolleyes.gif

UMI quota checking is available for all (UMI18 , UMI28 , UM38 , UMI48)
However , to check data usage is chargeable. Only check call & sms usage are free
[attachmentid=3562959]
*
That is if you use the app. For UMI48, you can use *118*2*3# to check the balance but it is only for UMI48 *only*(that's what the Android dev told me, I'm using UMI48 now so I can't check otherwise)

yeah, i cant check data usage on USSD,
using umi 28 here..

basically i just use the data for whatsapp outside wifi area,
if got wifi i will turn off data,
my wifi always on..
*
well, USSD was not implemented for WP7, and WP8 is still quite new, so I don't think that there'll be much USSD related apps at the Store laugh.gif

how do i check that my data quote has additional 250mb from autobiling?
i used *118*2*3# and it still shows 1gb (for u28plan).
*
3 ways:
1. SMS: Key in "DATA"(without quotes) and send to 28118
2. UMB: Dial *118#, Select & Select
3. Connection Manager: Click Data Usage Button

Hi,  i am using umi28, let say i finish the free sms and call, what is the call and sms rates? Can pin the info at first post?

also, what does this means?

RM0.Free calls&SMS  activated until 03/09/13.7pm-11:59pm 3sen/30sec.Panggilan&SMS percuma diaktifkan,sah 03/09/13.7pm-11:59pm 3sen/30saat

does it means free calls is only from 12am to 7pm daily? I thought can use anytime as long as got 100 minutes?
*
The charges after you've used up the freebies for your UMI plan is based on the prepaid plan

user posted image

The free calls and sms that you mentioned is this(free call and sms to *U Mobile* numbers only, the number of days depends on your amount of top up):

so how about
"7pm-11:59pm 3sen/30saat"

what does it means? normal call rates is 9cent/30second
*
Let's put a scenario for an easier understanding laugh.gif

Let's say that you've top up RM10, so it entitles you for 10 days of free calls to other U Mobile numbers from 12am to 6.59 p.m.

Within this 10 days, if you called U Mobile number in between 12am and 6.59 p.m and the duration of call per day is less than or equal to 60 minutes, then the call charge is foc.

However, if you called a U Mobile number in between 12am and 6.59 p.m but the duration of call is > 60 minutes then you will be charged(with normal 9 cent/30 sec, I think).

Meanwhile, if you called a U Mobile number that is outside of the free call time(which is 7PM to 11.59PM), you will be entitled of a cheaper call rate which is 3 cent/30 sec.

  {
   call_rate = 0; // foc until 60 minutes has been used up for each day
  }
  else // reached 60 minutes of daily free talk time, so normal rates will apply
  {
   call_rate = 0.09; // 9 cent per 30 seconds
  }
 }
 else // 7p.m to 11.59a.m
