QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Jul 29 2013, 10:10 AM)
I dont think the DLCs are handled as badly as before as a lot of the DLCs has been focusing on mainly adding lots of content, such as DLCs from games like Borderlands 2, Skyrim, Dishonored, Crusader King 2 and even Battlefield 3 to the point, some DLCs are essential to enjoy the game. These DLCs add a tonne of content to the price to pay and I dont see whats wrong of paying up for it if you are enjoying the game.

For Borderlands 2, agreed though I am rather disappointed that they are not going to release any more season pass for the newer DLCs. Buying each individually gonna be painful and waiting for GOTY gonna be a drag.

QUOTE(Boldnut @ Jul 29 2013, 10:23 AM)
So i guess it is a no-go to idle farm free cards/items from there?
*
For Dota 2, no – you must play it for item drops. For card drops, pay 9.99 for each card drop (which is really silly IMO). I think you can get the cards far cheaper on the market if you are looking for some.

QUOTE(kof91 @ Jul 29 2013, 11:02 AM)
so far none of the project I funded is released yet..  sweat.gif

I got project Eternity + Star Citizen, and man, they really spam my inbox with updates. I guess in some sense, at least there are some updates and not the bad news like what happened with a board game project from Kickstarter. The big guy just say “I quit” one day and there goes the project - $120k+ gone down the drain.

As for DLC...yeah it seems that almost all developer do not appreciate the early buyer. mad.gif Early buyer get stuff down the throat with expensive DLCs when the goty edition is much cheaper. I still dont get it why cant they just give special discount to existing owner of base game.

Borderlands 2, I think i dont give a crap about it anymore, as UVHM is just unfun to play solo as it felt like Gearbox trying to force people to play coop considering they have been giving more and more raid bosses in their DLCs, which I also dont want. Still, i enjoyed my time there, so its time to move on.

Eternity and Star Citizen are quite good at keeping people up to date, but most of my other projects arent so good. There is always a chance of failure though, regardless of size of the project.

Keep them as you have tonnes of games anyway and price will go down sooner or later. Unless you want it now.

I got $30+ in my Steam wallet and im keeping them for Winter sales.

IMO, buying a game or DLC early is just like paying more for early access. Nothing wrong with that if you really want to play it now and they arent forcing you to buy early, if not just wait for years till the GOTY version is $2.50.

Generally the only reason for me to buy a game early it's if I want to play multi player with others. Otherwise, I am fine with waiting a year or two for the price to drop.

Considering that i gave up on any sort of multiplayer game, except its asynchronous multiplayer that some of the upcoming TBS has, I pretty much only play for SP so i only buy on release on the basis that i think the game has potential.

no I didnt mean for the early DLC buyers, I mean if u own a base game, the Goty edition is out they are still charging u expensive DLCs so much to a point that buying all the DLC is almost the price of the GOTY itself, sometimes for some games, DLCs alone individually is more expensive than the GOTY itself. I am paying for for DLCs while I can get better deal with GOTY. It just doesnt make any sense at all.

due to this I actually wont mind waiting till GOTY out(while clearing my backlog).

Or just create a dupe acc, buy the GOTY and add it on dupe acc, hey at least there is a reason now since by owning 2 copies of base game u can craft a badge right away. *login/out just 2 Accounts, isnt really troublesome on steam.

Agreed. If a GOTY version is out, the old DLCs should drop price respectively too or have an upgrade options like certain games like Civ 5.

yeah I like the way 2K game/ civ5 developer do. At least they are acknowledge previous Civ 5 owner & give them a decent upgrade option.

Any opinion on these 2 kickstarter?

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/196697...rs-and-battles/
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/116887...e-you-build-th/

I feel that organic panic not bad.
While wars and battles although is turn base, but they put the pledge reward is like 1 battle per level of pledge and then another add more for another platform to play it.
If you only play with PC then it is ok, but if you want to go in pc and smartphone, you have to pledge more.

It's nice when devs give you the option to upgrade your existing copy cheaply or give you an additional but i dont think every developers entitled to do that which is why i still kept buying all the Civ V expansions despite i didnt even play them because Firaxis are a bunch of nice guys who genuinely cares about making fun games. Personally, I am alright with it as the entire DLC practise isnt as ridiculous as the whole IAP business model in mobile games. I only buy DLCs on sales anyway, as it is cheap enough to justify the cost.

I rather have one Steam account and lose multiple copies of the same game as at the end, you only need one copy of the same game. And its quite annoying to see people owning multiple accounts when you want to talk to them, you have to go through multiple dup accounts to find the same person. I know a guy who separates his Steam account based on genre and its damn annoying to find him in the friends list.

Dont think i'll pledge any of them, doesnt look very interesting to me and I dont know who are the devs. Im actually a bit scared of developers that never shipped a project before, unless they have amazing talent like the LT guy or a project that is quite far in the development.

I had used up my money for Warmachine too.

so many interesting projects.. so little money.. cannot jus go pledge every single one of them
also some the risk is very high.. small studio, inexperience, asking for too little money, too large scope.. u name it.. so many factors..
be very careful when pledging
