Ah so you want a bass effect?
My 1st pedal was a Boss MetalZone MT2. Frankly, the dist was too kao for versatile use. |

Have you checked out the Zoom B2.1u???
http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/b21u/index.php It's resonably priced (should be about 500 ringgit range), it performs quite well, has most of the effects that you will need to play around AND has a USB interface to record to your computer. Or if you don't like Zoom, you can try out Digitech's BP80 or BP200 products. Doesn't have a USB plug, but according to some, performs much better compared to the Zoom.... SHOULD be around the same price range. But if you REALLY have cash to splurge on, Check out the Digitech BNX3.... http://www.digitech.com/products/bnx3.htm |

If you're talking about GUITAR effects...... I think my first pedal was the Zoom 505, 2000 limited edition silver one..... Then added on a GCB-95 Dunlop wah (Got it for my 21st Birthday).
I then got the GFX-5, and added in the ZW-44 and now, the ZW-45. I think you can get the B2.1u at Chambers in Sungai Wang or Bentley. Also.... since on the subject of Pedals..... Dunlop FINALLY came up with a Slash Wah!!!! http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=pr.../p_and_e_detail Looks REALLY killer and would be a good alternative to the Crybaby from Hell or the Wylde Wah..... |

List price was RM190??? i think my 1st pedal would be digitech bad monkey...... but still hestitate which pedal should i get btw the digitech bad monkay and boss ds-1......gimme some advice pls....Thanks.. Both the DS1 and BM are different pedals. The DS-1 is a distortion pedal that provides you heavy tone that reminds one of the grunge era, eg nirvana's smells like teen spirit. The BM is an OD pedal and at full gain, it should sound like ermm... perhaps classic rock bands like Cream & AC/DC? |

QUOTE(crazychris @ May 17 2006, 10:39 AM) Yup...the list price for the B2 was actually 425 most music shops usually give 8-10% off the price. But I do suggest you go and try it out yourself. Look for a guy called Faizal...very friendly and helpful. The only drawback that I have the with the B2 is enabling the bypass function....I ended up getting a footswitch to help me. I ended up paying 510 for the B2, the footswitch, power adaptor and a cable. |

A Wah from from GFX-5 (Almost never use), my GCB-95 Dunlop Wah (my work horse for 3 years and counting), and my brand spanking new Wylde Wah (EXCELLENT Metal/Funk wah)...... Get the G2.1u with the expression pedal..... not only can it act as a wah, but you can use it to control the volume, tremolo effects and all kinds of crazy stuff..... |

My first effects pedal was the Digitech RP3. Decided to get it fixed lately and tried playing with it and realised why the company's name is called Digitech. The effects really sounded very digital. Not natural enough, well to me. Even when using a tube amp.

But from an electronic point of view, the signal coming from the bass can be processed via the electronic effects pedal though |

Yes it can be used, but the frequency isn't as low as a wah that is made for the Bass, so you can't really hear the wah effect as much......
Why not get the Dunlop 105Q Bass wah? http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=pr.../p_and_e_detail Also, since on the subject of Dunlop pedals, they just released The Blowtorch, A 3 band EQ Overdrive/Distortion pedal........ looks and sounds killer...... http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=263 And the Digitech Distortion factory........ not as fantastic to me. I prefer The Weapon instead..... |

I'm still happy with it till now, the only gripe about it is that some of the distortion models lack the punch and tonal clarity (hence i wanna build a TS808 soon), and the fact that you can't have the freedom of arranging the effects in any chain you want (but thats expected from effects of this range anyway). Both
Honestly....... my perfect setup would be a 2 FX-loop system...... switchable using a Tonebone Loopbone......(http://www.tonebone.com/tb-loopbone.htm) One loop will lead to either a Pod XT Live, Boss GT-8 or a Vox Tonelab SE, with a seperate Crybaby from hell/Slash Wah (Something that's customizable) and then the other will consist of the Zakk setup......which is the ZW-45 Wah, Rotovibe, ZW-44 Overdrive, EVH Phase 90, EVH Flanger, Octave and a Chorus pedal........ And then the signal will output to a JCM800 2203x (or ZW model) with the FX loop in the rear....... either that or a Marshall Mode4..... |

No. It's quite simple really...... a Multi-FX unit with a Wah goes through one channel on the ToneBone pedal..... and my Zakk Attack effects loops goes through another channel.....
The ToneBone basically allows you to have 2 effects chains to switch from, and outputs them to one amp..... So I will have all the units right where I would normally have my pedals.... only they will be slightly angled........ will draw a diagram when I have the time. |

QUOTE(crazychris @ May 19 2006, 12:28 AM) like blacktrix, i'd like both but since I can only afford one, i'd take a good multi effects. buying a whole array of effects is very costly, but of course, nothing beats analoque in terms of tone. however, multi-fx have one advantage live, which is the ability to change a whole array of effects and presets with one tap of the footswitch (or more, to change banks, channels). if u had individual pedals each, imagine changing settings and tapping several pedals, there's a limit to what a loop switch can do. |

HI guys my very first effects pedal was a BOSS BE-5M very Old school multi effects...
![]() http://www.bossarea.com/other/be5m.asp inherited from my unc from the 90's has all the basic effects : chorus, digital delay,OD/Distortion/Compressor using it till today until one day the chorus suddenly failed...ALL THE OTHER EFFECTS STILL WORK FINE I like using this coz it has dedicated knobs and switches for each effect (no menu surfing) to lazy to go and get the chorus fixed (might be a connection prob) so might wanna sell it off cheap cheap. waiting for my next BOSS ME-50 to arrive This post has been edited by fariq_azad: Nov 29 2006, 03:22 PM |

The Boss ME-50 IS a great unit..... perfect for people who want just multi-FX without Amp modelling.....
Hope your new ME-50 comes in soon man! In the mean time, why not post pics of your current setup on the flash us thread! |

My first 2 pedals were purchased simultaneously and they were the Jim Dunlop Volume Wah & the Boss DS-1.
Am saving up to buy a modified DS-1 called the DS-Ultra after hearing rave reviews about it. Either that or a Boss Digital Delay. |

Was using a Digitech RP3 (first multi-effects pedal) until recently when I bought a Boss GT8. Looking at the way I play, I think I don't deserve to use the Boss. LOL, need to spend more time on it figuring out how it works.

First things first..... the Boss ME-50 only produces effects...... not amp modelling..... So if you are looking to plug in your guitar and make it sound like going through a JCM800..... you're outta luck.
The GFX-3 does support some form of amp modelling, but the quality of effects can't compare to the ME-50. BOth of them are different units for different purposes. |

my 1st multifx pedal is the zoom 505 2...and my 1st stompbox is a digitech hot head...
the zoom is still working nicely and the hot head is giving me the distortion that i've been looking for....will try to get the zoom G9.2tt by the end of this month...been eyeing on that multifx unit for quite some time already... |

Before you do, please give the Vox Tonelab SE a try man....... I was a loyal Zoom follower, but after turning to the Vox......... man.... it opened up my eyes.
But yes...... the Zoom 9.2tt DOES have some impressive features on it's own also....... The final decision boils down to you, but give the VOx a run first. |

QUOTE(crazychris @ May 18 2006, 04:46 PM) QUOTE(blacktrix @ May 18 2006, 06:55 PM) Yes it can be used, but the frequency isn't as low as a wah that is made for the Bass, so you can't really hear the wah effect as much...... Exactly like what blacktrix explained. Why not get the Dunlop 105Q Bass wah? http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=pr.../p_and_e_detail I plugged in my basses into JD JH-1 wah, it sounded very light. The wah-wah sound is there but kinda faint. For the people with shallow pocket, Behringer have a wah which cost less than RM 200. The only bad thing about that wah is that the body are made from plastic. Serial pedal abuser have to stay clear from this thing. QUOTE(Everdying @ May 19 2006, 06:45 AM) i've played a bass thru a MT-2 before thru whatever bass amp they had that time in king's studio. You go, dawg! was messing around on cliff burton's anesthesia Back to the topic, my first pedals were Boss ODB-3, Ibanez SB7 and Ibanez BC5. I bought 3 of them in one package from a friend Earlier before that, I got myself Behringer Bass V-Amp. It never meant to be multi-effects to be honest, it work better mainly as amp simulator. My next target is the Behringer Wah. The ultimate would be Boss GT-6B or Line 6 Bass PODxt LiveLong way to go. Those two babies would eliminate my need to buy another gadget for a very2 long time. If you play metal and have a little cash left over, highly suggest the Crybaby From Hell wah...... great customization and looks freakin' bad ass as well.

What's the difference between the CFH Wah and the Crybaby? Actually trying to go for the Cliff Burton tone here, was originally buying a Big Muff instead of the Fab Tone but the seller sold it to someone else |

Cliff Burton?? Ooooooooooh. Bassist.
In that case, you'll have to go for Dunlop's Bass Wah, the 105Q. http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=pr.../p_and_e_detail I would always recommend a dedicated Bass Wah for bassists. Like I said before, the Wah frequency for a guitar Wah isn't low enough to be picked up by the Bass. And if you're on a spending spree... would suggest the Blowtorch also. http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=263 I heard some good reviews about it....... but might not be to everyone's taste. |

It's interesting to read 'em, although many of the info pretty incomplete. QUOTE(blacktrix @ Dec 3 2006, 07:24 PM) WOW..... you really WERE left out...... that post was waaaaaaaaaaaay back in May.... Kinda like a hot-rod wah.The Blowtorch are pretty versatile as well since they have so many knobs for different frequencies. Judging solely by the sound clip at their website, the tone was pretty good but somehow, I found it a little bit clean. If Burton is your target, try to stay clear from digital/clean-like tone. Burton tone are gritty. You can't go wrong with a Big Muff. Meanwhile, Burton uses Morley Power Wah. You might want to check it out This post has been edited by chapree: Dec 4 2006, 11:09 PM |

QUOTE(kernel @ Dec 5 2006, 01:29 AM) Not that I had hand-on experience on it but a lot of fellow bassist that I knew liked it. It gave them more warmth to the tone.Sansamp have a programmable version of BDDI. I like this one better because can switch setting faster. BDDI have always been compared with MXR M80+. MXR were the cheaper one but have distortion capability. To each of his own, I guess. |
