Hmmm, recently shushu ears has a lot of ear wax. He has been shaking his head a lot. I brought him to the vet to clean his ear twice already this week. The vet said there is still a lot inside the L shape, cannot reach until the wax come out to the outer ear part.... If he is still persistently shaking his ears, then has to apply medicine and ear drop already. The vet did took a sample of the wax to check - luckily no infection or fungus so far. His ears is not smelly also - just dunno why so much ear wax.....

Anyone has this problem with their retrievers?

Chelsea don't have much ear wax but her ears smelly lu. Use medication to clean her ears regularly. If problem persist, will bring her to vet to check again.

Abby don't have problem tho. I can just open her ears and take a deep breath. A bit masam masam smell only but still nice to smell.

Shushu ears now smell of his ear lotion all the time....
The vet gave some whitish lotion (smell like baby lotion) which i put on some cotton ball to wipe his ears, usually one week once. Because this week, I brought him to the vet twice to clean ears - now the ears has the same smell already.....

Waaa, make me want to smell his ears leh!

Hi to all fellow GR owners, I in need of some advise here.

Sorry for being a lil lazy to go tru all the pages as i know the answer to my question should be in it.
I'll be getting a GR pup real soon, in a week time at most but i have not bought any of the stuff.

I would like some recommendations of the list below and where to get it if possible
All input is greatly appreciated

Hello Shadow, congrats on the new puppy .
Here's my take but I am not from KL but you can get these items in any petshop I guess .
Get the hollisitc dry dog food , they have various brand but I have tried Eagle Pack , it's good but my dog poop alot while on that .

2. Give your puppy a soft toy , he/she will like it , or get those ropes selling at commercial petshop .
3. Grooming kit , no idea ..
4. Play pen
5. -
6. sausages , carrot , apple .. do some research , doggie can not take certain food like grapes . NO CHOCOLATE .

First of all, congrats on your new pup! Have you fix a name for him/her yet?

Here is my suggestions:

1) Food
Depends on your budget. Try not to buy those supermarket brand like pedigree or alpo as the ingredients is not so good. Get the super premium/holistic one. You can also ask your breeder what he is feeding your puppy now so that there will not be too sudden change in its food. If you want to change its food - change it gradually by mixing them and then gradually reduce the old one. 2) Toy
Simchi suggestion is good.
Soft toys are great for pups! It simulate another companion to keep them from being too lonely. Shushu first toy is a turtle soft toy which he carries all over the place with him Just make sure the soft toys don't have any plastic part , such as eyes or nose which the puppy may bite off and accidentally swallow. Remove them before giving it to the puppy.
Ropes are good too for teething puppy.

3) Grooming kit
Start with a comb first. When it get bigger - get a bristle brush or a slicker. Frequent brushing helps to reduce fur from flying around.

4) Den
You can use a crate or a playpen. Crate is more secure while play pen is flexible and can be put away when not in use.

5) Shampoo and stuff
Get a mild puppy shampoo will do. Don't bath too frequently as it will cause the fur to be dry and brittle.

6) Treats

7) Others
How about leash, collar, water/food bowl?

Congrats on your new pup! Male or female leh? Remember to take pics of your furkid and post it for us to see le As for food, maybe you ask the breeder/owner what they have been feeding the pups. Then you gradually switch to whatever that you think is suitable.

Suddenly change diet will cause the pup to lau-sai. Last time Chelsea lau-sai so bad.

BTW, Prince pappy, Simchi and Hamster9 -- want to have another swimming trip or not? This saturday 29th. If enough kaki, we go again Ask Ann if she want to join or not

Yesterday shushu had a big feast - he tore open the 15kg bag of dog food and help himself with it.
I think he was very happy he could "hunt" his own food - when we come home, the first thing he did was to lead us to the torn bag and play with the shredded packaging right in front of us
I have to put him on a diet now.......

I want to go but I dont think I can .

LOL , Won .. your Shushu is a champion . He finishes all the 15kg of dog food ?

whuah... remember to weight him and tell us how much he gained!! dats pretty aggressive =P ive been told that the owner of my potential dog is busy on saturday so i cant get it from her.. now gotta get it on sunday.. zzzzzzz.. i hate waiting =(
