Hello, I found a position as customer support specialist in IBM. As i know this position is more with administration? I really have no clue what this position about. Anyone who works in IBM at the moment or before? Can you give me some hints about this post and the working environment there? I will appreciate it. Thank you. :)

Outsource means you are hired by third party head hunter, and your payroll comes from the head hunter as well. wink.gif

the position would basically revolve mainly order fulfillment. preparing order, do, etc. i am not in the position to reveal too much because i am not the one working thr n even if i am, i wouldnt want to jepordize my career.

i heard tht its quite a relaxed job but when month end, a lot of work n might need to do OT but cant claim laugh.gif

Ok, my 2 cents of worth regarding this position. Its under a department called Customer Support Operations (CSO) and headed by a nice malay lady. It shouldn't be based in KLCC as KLCC is more like an accounting hub. Its in TTDI.

Contractor? Yes, normally they would hire contractor to do the job. Meaning thru 3rd parties like Manpower, Adecco and etc. Job scope? Customer order fulfillment. Meaning once the sales ppl close the detail, you're supposed to key in the order, ensure it is complete, liase with your China counterpart on the supply and delivery and ensure it is on time.

Career progress? There are many contractors converted to permanent and moved on to do other things in ibm, from sales to finance, admin to accounting and etc. There are also many who felt disappointed and leave.

It depends what u wanna do actually...

There are 3 main roles of customer support specialist, which are contract admin order admin and backlog admin.some is base in klcc, some in TTDI.Differ roles hv differ tasks, depand on ur luck to fall in which categories. Normally u will hv to stay back late or work at weekend during month end.
you will work under agency such as man power, adecco, or kelly Services. Dun worry, the paid is reasonable.

Usually if you work in IBM (depending on which dept), you gotta stay on till very late and this is esp true during month end, quarter closing and year end.

If you're interested in helpdesk job, I dont think u need to go thru any IQ test, and the placement is thru 3rd party companies, not IBM directly. Then these companies will conduct the interview process. I heard that the benefits are not that bad and it should includes EPF.

If u join as a fresh grad, yeah, u'll need to pass the IQ test but its not that hard as u thought and pass 2 interviews. The interviews would be conducted by a manager and then a senior manager.

If you join as experience hire, then depending on which band you're joining, the interview process will differ. It is a norm to have 2-3 interviews b4 getting hired.

most of the job nowdays by these so called big companies are through agency or headhunter or thorugh a headhunter which refer you to another agency

if you are gonna work directly ibm, its gonna need a 2nd upper degree in anything ...

thats the requirement to get into ibm's blue team, starting period could be hell, but once u are permanent with IBM, its great ...

thats what i heard, i'm attached with an IBM project with a major banking company in KL

maybe its fun and all for call centre. Working in HQ different matter though. Corporate culture can be very stifling ... the old guard can be quite condescending towards freshies and yes be prepared to work long hours... and I mean long hours.

be warned smile.gif

Hi there, currently i'm working mesiniaga(if gonna work in ibm,ure gonna know what company is that).i'm doing kinda of the same job ure applying, altho the post sounds different.i'm in the CSD(customer service division) doing parts ordering, taking engineer's call, and things the other forumers said earlier. My paper works is only in a small amount.what i can say is,if ibm's gonna take u for it,i think u better go.The HR department won't entertain u,i've friends working as head hunters and recruitment agency.Big companies will just look for recruitment companies to short list canditates for them.My interview was kind of hard.taking tests, then u have to go tru the manager.trust me,manager's are very good in putting the harshest meaning in the nicest way.they can talk wonders,be very very prepared for the interview.they'll ask u superhero questions.Unless u have good qualification or interests in other fields, then this is definitely a palce for u to paint ur resume nicely before goin to hunt for another job.just my 2 cents... smile.gif

ps:my pay is good enuf for my qualification
i got health benefits as well.i'm just a contract worker,my 3rd month...

Hi,
Wish to get some info.
1)Is it mesiniaga only hiring contract based? How about permanent?
2)Is the test question hard?
3)How is the working environment there?(if for networking?)
4)Salary?Bonus?Benefit? - how much?
Thanks
