yeah, although there's gonna be a refined version of the octa for the note 3, still feel like going for the S800, but if it has the PowerVR 6 might consider it tongue.gif

The Emotion UI actually looks kinda nice. Casual users would actually love things like that, over the top, fancy UI. Got a number of friends who have gone crazy over the LG G Pro UI lol.

The sad thing is, they probably will think that they are "experts" on their own device and don't know that you can slap on a different launcher and change everything......

New Toy

Control Your Device without Touch with Hovering Controls
www.xda-developers.com/android/control-your-device-without-touching-it-with-hovering-controls

.....Developed by XDA Senior Member forgin, Hovering Controls uses the proximity sensor of your device to register simple motions performed in front of your device. Predetermined apps can be launched by either hovering over the sensor, swiping once, or swiping twice. And silencing an alarm or ringtone is as simple as a hand wave. You can also control your media playback this way, allowing you to change to the next or previous song or video without ever turning on the phone screen and physically touching it.

LG Optimus G UI is very superb, stutter free too, only obtainable with stock kernel on Note 2.

But battery life really teruk  sweat.gif
*
Do you mean that the LG UI is as smooth as stock TW of Note 2? Or do you mean that the LG UI can be grafted onto the Note 2 that is using a stock kernel?

The smoothness of the LG's UI is only obtainable when the Note 2 is bloatware free and nothing is running at the background with 4 cores up at all times running at 1.6GHz.

TW is really, really laggy  sweat.gif  however I remember reading an article that lag might not always be the death sentence of mobile devices. Some lag is good, lag reduce the amount of resource needed to process a single task hence leading to a better battery life.

On 3G, my Note 2 is using 15%/hr on 50% brightness, on WiFi just 7%/hr on minimum brightness.

As for my LG Optimus G (which I had just sold it), about 25%/hr on 3G, 30% brightness (the screen is really bright even under sunny conditions, thumbs up from me  thumbup.gif ) and 15% on WiFi on minimum brightness. Battery life is slightly worse than S3 on Perseus + Wanam 4.1.2.
*
Oh haha I see, yes I did post that lag death sentence article link before, you could have read that here. I don't know, perhaps uncle benny can clarify, since he has said he's got a couple of hundred apps on his device yet it's still smooth and he gets 6+ hrs SOT. Best I've ever gotten is about 5hr+ with everything on. Full day of 3G gets me approx 4.5hrs only.

I never use TW, it only lasts about 5-10 mins whenever I perform a reset or flash something else.

Wow LG drains very fast. Smaller battery too I guess.

Care and feeding of LiPo batteries

Most of what he says is general info about batteries for RC planes, but it gets interesting when he explains the charge controller, and also what he says at 9:06 about never letting the battery go empty otherwise it gets pregnant....

So I suppose we can all have about 10-15% as a min level before recharging.

Can you enlighten us by sharing a few common flashing methods? I know there are commercial flashers where you plug in the chip and it writes to it from some file.

it all depends on the hardware..lets say the most basic raspberry pi board where the os is juz flashed onto a sd card then run it from there..

or u can use a lan wire connect the board and flash the bios..

other devices all depend on hardware and os used
*
I see...ok thanks for the explanation. No wonder you are a bit confused by phone flashing laugh.gif

hi all,

i've always wanted to ask...if anyone of you use ios before...we can tap the home button and then it will bring us to a search page...we can type and search for anything in the phone... apps or contacts etc...

in note 2...is there anything similar to this search function?

thanks.
*
I believe you want Google Now, which offers the search and Siri-like functions. By default you can invoke it from the home button as well, or something like that.

I don't use it, others may be able to help you.

Press and hold menu button, it will show you something like spotlight search. I just tried it and its able to find apps and contacts.

I don't use it because i'm an organized person and I know where I place my things hence I don't see a need for myself on relying on a search function.

Some news, especially for those with kids/nieces/nephews.......

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Apple-refun...le-iPad_id45531

And a new toy

Quad Core Manager for Increased Battery Savings
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/quad...attery-savings/

Because of the power demands of modern SoCs, XDA Senior Member seaskyways created Quad Core Manager. It aims to give users better control of their devices’ multi-core processors, and in turn, achieve greater device longevity. So how does the app work? Simple. You can use the app with any multi-core device to disable specific cores other than the first core.

Turn your Note 2 into a single core device??? tongue.gif

I have a bizarre plan to make my Note 2s lighter.

I think I might try to use S3 battery + some thumbtack
*
Err.... umm... you could pair it with the app I just posted above for lighter weight and lighter processing then? 20g too heavy for you?
